Short location stay

Description of the place was accurate including location details, surroundings and trains. River is about 20 yards from the house, serene ambiance, quiet relaxing sound. Train watching was enjoyable experience and, on positive side, the trains didn't run at night (or so I think). To make it clear, watching trains wasn't a distant watching, trains run about 10-15 yards from the house. However, it didn't bother us at all to our surprise. Other things we liked is meticulously fenced backyard, that would keep pet rats (if someone has them) inside the perimeter. The house is very clean, all linens were proper, all kitchen utensils where very adequate. All appliances were functional and in great shape. Minor points include lack of exhaust fan in the single bathroom and no ores were found for the advertised kayaks. Other than that - great place. We visited our daughter at VT and would rent this place in the future.

Comfy and Relaxing

Comfy and cozy home overlooking new river just a half hour from VA Tech. The place was clean and everything was labeled for easy use. While you can hear the trains on the track go by, I found it relaxing like white noise. We came here for a football game, but I would stay here again during warm weather to enjoy the river. The host was very responsive

Rivah stay

Lovely peaceful spot along the New River. Had two dogs with us so took advantage of gate on the porch and fenced backyard. Porch was a great spot for watching herons, deer, ospreys, and eagles. Convenient to hiking, Radford, and Va Tech (and for morning coffee). Owners were very responsive to any Qs we had.

A few days with some friends

The property was just as listed. It was a nice place on the river. We did a little fishing. Ww watched others navigate the river fishing. We enjoyed watching the wildlife. Deer, geese and heron which I wasnt expecting to see. We used the grill on the porch to make a fantastic meal and went into Christiansburg for another. It was great to get away. Beds were comfortable and the house had everything that we needed. The train didn't bother us at all, it was pretty cool to see every day. Loved spending time with friends. It was a great place to do it. We are always looking for different places to stay but will definitely consider staying here again.

I’ll be back!

We were very pleased with the view and the house. This part of the New River is beautiful. It was so relaxing to sit on the porch and watch and listen to the river flowing. We had the extra delight of watching six newborn goslings with their parents. The house itself was cozy, clean and comfortable. You could sense love and hospitality from the uplifting and sometimes humorous framed quotes to all the little extra things provided for guest’s enjoyment and convenience. The fenced in backyard makes it safe for children and dogs. We would not hesitate to recommend this house on the river.

Riverhouse

What a peaceful place to visit. Wonderful views of the river, which was mere steps from the house. Had everything we needed for a quiet getaway Thanksgiving. My husband, son and dog enjoyed exploring the river and nearby train tracks. An afternoon at VT was a short drive away. Will be back with our kayaks for warm summer fun. Thanks Frank!

Fun Times at River House

Quaint, clean, and has an exquisite view! Came down for VT Hoco and football and a visit to our daughter at VCOM! Beds were comfortable, owners were engaging and informative, and the trains gave it more character and were not disruptive. Sitting by the river with the fire was simply the best. We thoroughly enjoyed our short visit and would love to come back!

Wonderful River Cottage!

My husband and I came for VT's parent's weekend and we really enjoyed our stay. Frank was a welcoming host and the cottage is adorable and very comfortable. He communicated well and made sure we had everything we needed. The extra touches, like snacks, water and lovely decor made us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch to enjoy the view of New River each morning with our coffee and tea. It was a perfect, peaceful getaway and we are planning to come back soon!

Rained out football game

Great route to and from football stadium for weekend stay. Unfortunately the 5 and a half hours delay in the game and 5 inches of rain resulted in a very soaked departed from the stadium and only one night stay. The process to leave message for property owner may be easy on computer but by phone was not intuitive. Thanks enjoy that bottle of wine I forgot in the kitchen
