About this property
Sugar in the Raw w/Hot Tub
Come unwind and reconnect at our quiet mountain retreat, Sugar in the Raw. Soak in the good vibes our guests keep commenting on -- there's just something special about our cozy mountain home!
We are 7 miles from Big Bear Village, with myriad activities for all four seasons in every direction.
In the summer, we love to hike and bike all the local trails at the end of our lane (there's also great 4x4 trails nearby). Take the Snow Summit Sky Lift for the high altitude view. Ride the Big Bear Queen around the lake. And eat at Santana Mavericks by the lake. Everything is less than 15 minutes away.
In the winter, we snowboard at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. We have a lot more suggestions with plenty of information in our welcome guide.
After a day of adventure, we come back to Sugar in the Raw and hang in our jacuzzi under the towering pines and make use of the huge deck furnished with a dining area, plenty of seating, and a big grill, or just drink a beer around the fire pit under the stars. When it’s cold, we love to sit by the fireplace and drink a glass of wine, curl up on the couch and watch a movie. We have a game collection, and lots of fun movie paraphernalia upstairs because we both work in film and TV.
The kitchen is fully equipped, stocked to prepare a homemade meal, has a Keurig and French press, blender, a high end washer and dryer hidden under the marble island, and a beautiful woodblock dining table nook with red leather cushions that we may or may not have built out of leftovers from building costumes for The Rock's next movie. Feel free to practice your eyebrow arch at breakfast.
When you’re ready for sleep, we get so many comments about how comfy our beds and linens are.
We have a NEMA 1450 EV charger outside the front door for your convenience -- just a $25 flat rate for as much use as you want.
Yes, you have the whole property all to yourself!
- AC & heat
- Enclosed yard w/ elevated deck
- OLED TV’s with complimentary NETFLIX, DISNEY+, etc
- Lots of games to choose from
- Purified, reverse osmosis water in the fridge & kitchen sink
- Whole house filtered soft water system for the world’s best showers
IMPORTANT: We apologize, but one of us has severe allergies and we DON'T ALLOW ANY PETS. We understand you may have a service animal, or can't travel without your furry BFF, but please respect that we aren't a random hotel -- this is our home we're inviting you into, the allergies are real and severe. If we find out there's been an animal inside, there will be a $500 fine added to your bill for a deep cleaning of the cabin.
We’re looking forward to hosting you & hope you’ll enjoy our mountain sanctuary as much as we do!

What makes this property unique
Something we keep hearing in our reviews, and something we've both experienced ourselves, is that our cabin has really positive energy. One of us is a screenwriter, and had the biggest script sale of his life from writing there. One guest described experiencing such clarity of mind there that she came away with a plan for her life post-divorce. We're sure it's of course partly due to the fresh mountain air, the pines, the shade, the quiet. But there's just this energy when you enter. Restful, recharging vibes.
