Gorgeous view
Really cool cabin with huge deck and fantastic views of Lake Carite. Good communication with property manager who immediately responded to any issues. All the bedrooms had fans and AC, and hurricane shutter can black out all light if you want to sleep in. Beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space for my family of six. Only thing to be aware of is that the walls in the bedrooms don't go all the way to the ceiling, which means you can easily hear from one room to the next, so not much privacy if that's a concern.
I'd definitely recommend an SUV if renting this house. The road down to the gate is not in great shape, and you'll want some clearance. A 4x4 would be ideal, especially if it rains a lot. We did lose power for about half a day, but that's to be expected in a remote area of PR like this. The owner said he was going to be installing solar panels and batteries to maintain power during outages in the future, so that would alleviate that problem. Either way, it wasn't a big deal, we were out and about anyway.
The house comes with some nice kayaks which I definitely recommend taking advantage of, kayaking Lake Carite was really enjoyable. The kayaks are big and heavy though, and you have get them down to the lake and back though, which is about 200 meters, so just be prepared for that.
Not far from the lovely town of Guayama where there's a great restaurant called Prime Market.
