The place was as described and very clean. It was a little confusing knowing which was our place and knowing exactly what we had access to such as lawn furniture and fire pit. Overall, it was a great place and a great stay!
We were so very pleased with the property. The house itself is beautiful, very clean, and well appointed. It was very spacious with a gorgeous view right down the lake with a spectacular view of the sunset each night. We had guests below us but would never have known if we had not met outside. We will be requesting this property again!!
I had booked this property in Jan 2025. We had unexpected sickness with family and couldn't travel and the Property Manager worked with us to reschedule. Then when it was time to go again we got 10 inches of snow and couldn't go, once again the Property Management worked with us!! Amazing and easy PM. The stay was very nice as well. Location is pretty. We enjoyed our stay.
The house was clean spacious and the lake view was quit wonderful to bad it was a little cold for enjoying the water but other than that was really nice
This place was great! My friends and I had an event in Marion over the weekend and this place was the perfect for our group. We had fun with the kayaks and paddleboards in the afternoons and sat on the pier in the evenings. The house was very comfortable and clean inside.
Great home with beautiful sunsets and a multitude of gathering spots off and on water. Having warm and friendly neighbors and hosts close by is a wonderful addition!
We rented this for a weekend getaway and had a great time. The location is nice with a good view of the lake. The house was clean and comfortable with the basics provided (kitchen items, bathroom towels, etc) The unit is the top floor with permanent residents in the basement unit. This wasn’t an issue for us, but something to consider.
We stayed her due to a funeral in the family. We wanted something clean and close to other family. This was perfect and we will probably come back for vacation. Lovely property.
Place was nice and clean. The cover on the attic fan kept falling and the ladder on dock was broken, but did not stop from having a good time. I did not know that the lower level of house was also rented out. The kids loved the kayaks and paddleboards.
Everything was amazing from communication with property managers to views. We did need to hang up a sheet in the master bedroom since there were a few of the blinds missing and the neighbors could just peer in. The grill has seen some better years. Other then those minor things the experience was great.
The house was exactly like the photos, it was clean and well kept. We had a wonderful time. The neighbors were super friendly and sweet. Everything went smoothly the owner was great at communicating with us. Highly recommend!
This place was so nice, clean, roomy and comfortable. Beds were comfortable. It was quiet and peaceful. Linens were provided. Kitchen stocked with basic things. Bring your own coffee supplies ie filters unless you do kcups.
Clean, nice, bright and specious place.
Easy check in/check out process.
In my opinion, mattersses should be updated and more kitchen equipment should be provided, but overall great experience and amazing stay.
Thank you.
Clean, cute, right on the lake, great dock. Perfect for what we needed. Only thing was they said there was kayaks that were included and we couldn’t find them. When I reached out to ask where they were, I never got a response back.
We were a party of 10 (4 adults and 6 children). The kids loved the view of the lake and enjoyed fishing! Having our morning coffee overlooking the lake and enjoying the sunset was amazing from the deck!! A memory we will never forget..
For the price we paid I feel it was a decent place to stay.
The only down fall is there is an old couple who live downstairs with a couple of dogs. (Apt B) When the kids would go outside the dogs wouldn’t stop barking. Also, the old couple would bang something on their ceiling and we would hear it on the floor. I feel he was felling as if we were waking around to much and heard walking.. I was very mindful telling the kids to please walk softly so the couple below us would stop acting the way they were.
If I would have known this rental was on the second floor I would not have rented it.
But over all I feel it was a nice place to be during the Christmas holiday.
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at this property. However, there were a few things that I think the management company needs to address. The access to RENTAL UNIT "B". Upon arrival my kids were able to access a unit that had been rented by a different party, the door off the kitchen was unlocked, therefore anyone could have accessed OUR rental, we could not lock it from our side. That is VERY disturbing in today's world. If there are two units that door needs an exterior door and lock. Secondly, we were repeatedly told that the kayaks/paddle boards were easy to find. They definitely WERE NOT. We were persistent because that was one of the reasons we rented this property. They were at the property next door, that we had NO IDEA was a second rental to this same company. Eventually, we figured it out because they had the numbers on the back, the management company needs to build a kayak and paddleboard rack down by the water and make it easily accessible for both rentals. In addition we purchased groceries and the oven did not ever get to temp, and there is no toaster. The sleeping arrangements and bathrooms were great and this unit had plenty of space both indoor and outdoor. We hope to return to Egypt Lake in the future.
We had a good time, but man was the listing for this location misleading. It says it sleeps 10 so you would expect there to be enough of everything for 10 people. There is 1 queen and 2 full beds with sheets, pillows, and comforters. There are also 3 pull out couches, but no sheets or sleeping pillows provided for the pull out couches. There were only 8 towels, 4 medium plates, 4 small plates, and 4 bowls. We had to go out and buy a set of sheets, a pillow, and paper plates just to make it serviceable.
Nowhere is it mentioned that you do not get the entire house, which is what I thought VRBO was all about. The basement was a separate unit that had people in it. We specifically wanted a place that was just to us because we have a toddler and a 5 year old and we didn't want to bother anyone. Well, the people below us kept banging on their ceiling because we were too loud. Most of it was incidental like moving chairs to sit at the table...which also wouldn't fit 10 people.
In their email to me it said "The house is fully furnished and stocked, all you need is food and toiletries." This is clearly not the case.
We also could not find the paddle boards or kayaks anywhere. Another thing to note, there is a boat dock with a single slip that looks like it supports up to 4 (maybe more) units. So if you're planning to use that for anything, just know you'll likely be sharing it as well as the fire pit.

Nice area, house was ok.
House is spacious, cute decor. You can tell it gets a basic cleaning but nothing more. Blinds in living room are outdated and heavy, be careful when lowering them. Blinds on patio doors in kitchen and master bed had slats falling off and missing. Kitchen was clean, some basic cooking items. Area for coffee and some k-cups in the drawer. Table and chairs on balcony had leftover food and a plastic fork left behind. Grill was dirty so we scrubbed before using. String lights on balcony did not work, neither did back door light. Main living room fan does not work. No bedding for either sofa bed. Found a dusty comforter in the garage so we decided to stay up and wash it. Washer was not hooked up! Hooked it up and then washed blanket. Very old washer/dryer. Next morning we realized fitted sheet underneath us on master bed was coming off. It was wrong size and had just been thrown on, did not fit bed. Shower in master bath had broken door handle dangling. Not enough bath towels. Smoke detector was fine, carbon monoxide alarm was missing battery flap so we could clearly see there were only two batteries and an empty space where third should have been. Had a great trip to Southern Illinois, but would not rent this home again. There should have been plenty of towels, bedding, and things should have been in working order.
