Stunning Beach Home

Perfect location to access the gulf beaches, big bend trails and wildlife area aswell as gas, groceries and restaurants. Stunning home, spotless, everything we needed was there. Relaxed in the comfort of the screened in porch with morning sunshine, listening to the birds. 5 stars all the way.

Cozy Get-a-Way

Beautifully decorated, cozy get-a-way to The Forgotton Coast for our family reunion. It truly is just steps from both the beach and pool. Well-stocked kitchen for cooking what you catch and a great dining table indoors as well as on the screened porch. Comfortable beds and linens. Ample parking. Overall, a wonderful stay!

A Hidden Gem at Summer Camp Beach – Absolute Perfection!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at this VRBO rental in Summer Camp Beach! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the beauty, tranquility, and sheer comfort of this home. The house itself is immaculate—thoughtfully designed, beautifully decorated, and stocked with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was a dream for cooking meals, with high-end appliances and all the essentials. The living spaces were cozy yet spacious. We utilized both the front porch and the screened back porch. The bedrooms were spacious and decorated perfectly. The master bathroom was a spa-like experience, and the main bathroom was very accommodating as well. The real highlight was the location; this home felt like a private oasis. The beach was private and during low tide you could walk way out or experience marine life in the shallow water. The pool was refreshing and offered breathtaking views of the gulf. When not on site, we spent our days exploring the area: Beach days at St. George Island State Park and Bald Point S.P., hiking the Otter Lake Loop and Tate's Hell S.F., Kayaking the Wakulla River (TnT Hideaway Rentals), exploring Carabelle: History Museum, Camp Gordan Johnston WWII museum, and Marine Street Mercantile. We also delightied in oysters at "Hole in the Wall" in Apalachicola. The host went above and beyond to ensure we had a perfect stay, offering excellent communication. Our stay was perfect and EVERY aspect of our experience was positive.

Wonderful hosts with a beautiful home and location. A gorgeous short walk to the natural beach along the St. James shoreline. The house is well laid out with plenty of space. We enjoyed outdoor dining on the screened in back porch. Would highly recommend renting from this owner. Check in and check out were a breeze as well!

Didn't want to leave!

We had such a wonderful stay at this house. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. The house itself is absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed to make our 10 day stay just perfect. The location was also fantastic, offering all sorts of things to do...kayaking, pool days, hiking, fishing, and just hanging out at Harry's Bar were some of the highlights. We can hardly wait to visit again. Roger was the perfect host as well. We could tell that he wanted us to enjoy every minute of our stay.

A Slice of Paradise

My husband and I spent a long weekend at this amazing property. Everything about our stay from renting to check-in and check out was superb. The host accommodated our travel related needs and was so kind to do so. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find a lovely welcome gift. The home was clean and well appointed. We loaded up the wagon they had with their provided beach chairs and headed down to the beach each day. It’s an easy 4 minute walk. After a relaxing morning at the beach we’d walk back for lunch and a rest time. The home was kept cool and dark for our mid day nap with the interior shutters (along with a/c). We’ll be back!!

Firefly Paradise

This is the first time we have ever stayed at a VRBO. We are contractors and are building 2 houses in Eastpoint so we had to come up there for work. We are VERY impressed with the house and how comfortable and spacious it is. It made us feel at home. I love the nice little gifts that we got when we arrived :) Thank you! We would definitely stay there again. I have told our customers about the house and if they ever have guests they will recommend the home.

Thanksgiving Family Time

We spent Thanksgiving weekend at this wonderful house. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare our thanksgiving feast including a roasting pan and plenty of casserole dishes. This house is just so nice and beautiful. Owners welcomed us with wine and a gift and also a bottle of wine. This is our second time here and we will definitely be back. Walk to the beach is only a few minutes away. Area is secluded and quiet. Owner is quick to answer questions. Thank you Roger and Angela!!

Perfect for relaxing

We enjoyed our stay at A Step Away so much. My husband and I both agreed it was one of the nicest places we’ve stayed at. Everything is brand new. Owners had a gift waiting for us when we arrived. House was nicely decorated, clean, and had everything we needed. Check in and check out we’re a breeze. Owner was available and kept us informed at all times. The area itself is peaceful and quiet. Beach is small and no crowds at all. It is about a five minute walk to the beach and owner provided a beach cart to carry everything you need. Pool is huge with plenty of chase lounges and nice bathroom facilities. We will definitely be back.

Fantastic Beach House!

We have been fortunate to stay at many wonderful places all over the world. Roger and Angela's house "A Step Away" ranks at the top of the list. First off, the house is fantastic in all respects, beautiful furnishings, comfortable, well appointed, and functional. The screened-in back porch is perfect for everything from early morning coffee to late evening relaxation. The location is beyond outstanding as it centrally located to everything you would want to visit. Within in an hour is St. George Island, Apalachicola, Cape San Blas, St. Joe, Tallahassee, and everything in between. The locals are hospitable, the restaurants are family owned, and there is no shortage of outdoor activities. I highly recommend a visit to the Hole in Wall Raw Bar in Appalach, or visiting with Tom at Appalach Outfitters, or Lynn's Quality Oysters, or the Thursday night open mic night at Fathoms. Lastly, Roger and Angela are amazing hosts. Kind. Responsive. Thoughtful. If only ever host was as kind as they are. You will love "A Step Away" on the Forgotten Coast!

Summer Vacation 2024

The house was beautiful and stocked with everything one would need for cooking, comfort and even fun at the beach. Roger Baker was the most gracious, helpful and very accommodating host. We celebrated my grandson's third birthday at this house and it will be a birthday and vacation to remember. The house was clean, rooms were spacious and the decor was beautiful. A short walk to the wonderful pool and clubhouse with a short boardwalk to a lovely and peaceful beach. My youngest daughter loves to cook. She was cooking dinner and set the fire alarm off. Roger's call was immediate and his concern for our welfare was uppermost. It was no simple task in resetting the alarm (you can't just wave a towel), but Roger was very gracious and understanding and worked with us and the alarm company to reset. The location is perfect. Quiet neighborhood and only thirty minutes to St. George's Island. A short drive will put you in Crawfordville for a Walmart and a Publix. We will be booking our next vacation at this same place next year. I almost want this place kept secret so I can go any time. LOL! I love Florida and having this place to stay just makes the opportunity to visit so much more easier. I hope it remains this way for a long, long time to come. Don't waste another second looking for anywhere else. Rent this place and enjoy a quiet, serene time away. And a rainy day on a screened in porch. It was beautiful. A home away from home, but on vacation! Wonderful!

About the host

Host profile image
My family and I live out of state and have been visiting the Florida Pan Handle for over 20 years. I started looking for a place that was less congested and simpler and found this area. I like coming down to the Forgotten Coast and spending time in this area due to friendliness of the people, availability of fresh sea food and the absence of traffic and long lines. I wanted a place where I could fish or kayak within walking distance. What I like the most about St Teresa, is its laid back atmosphere.

Why they chose this property

I chose this neighborhood due to the direct access to the ocean, community pool and the unspoiled natural environment. I particularly enjoy the pine trees, native grasses and bushes. It's close to a boat ramp for access to the bay or blue water.

What makes this property unique

It is a newly constructed home in walking distance to both the ocean and community pool. If you are a nature lover and enjoy a quiet environment, A Step Away is the place for you and your family.
