We had a great time!
This was a family weekend and we all really enjoyed the property - lots of outdoor space to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. Fully equipped kitchen was perfect as was the use of the grill. Fun fire pit area. Plenty of parking. Comfortable beds and Karen was a great host providing all the information you would need and very responsive. We walked down to the river and floated around and it was a lot of fun! Thank you!!

Ok place, needs work
The layout of this house was great although there were tripping hazards as the thresholds to the bedrooms were 4-5 inches higher than the regular floor. Karen was easy to get in touch with and responsive. Unfortunately this property was very dirty. We spent 2 hours cleaning before we brought our belongings in. There were crumbs and dirt all over the table, grease all over the stove and exhaust fan (no fan, just the hood) and dust throughout that was months of buildup. We purchased sheets at the local Walmart to cover the furniture before sitting on it. We used a lot of Lysol to try and freshen the place up. I believe if this house was professionally cleaned top to bottom, it would be an ok place to stay.

Bridal weekend during a heat wave
Cabin is cozy but little thing dead mouse near door, bullets out back trash situation Owners do have a nice setup and you can see the love and attention they’ve put in the cabin there’s room for improvement air conditioning or vent fans a hot tub would fit nice an awning on sidedeck not just front I’m not sure if swimming in the not so nearby river is really an option when asking locals along the river they knew of no place to swim in it, rafting or boats yes but the water wasnt looking clean and signs were posted no swimming, but do not fret, there’s a community rec pool 17 min drive from cabin it was able to be found on google, but a lovely local woman told us where it was. This as pool is amazing $6 per person. An activity map from the area would have been nice on the cork board. The trash situation was the hardest part, so many bullets were fired at the trash can, they are set back from the house but we are not from pa, and burning trash is not allowed in our home state, with the size of our party and the photo evidence on the walls of bear activity, we were not prepared for amount of trash we generated and having a carry out policy if you go over direction, luckily we didn’t go over, as we burnt as much as we could, but a bear proof locked dumpster should be on the property away from the cabin but a shortly ride away. Over all we made the best of it and are leaving with treasured memories. And would do it again knowing what we were getting. Owner was upfront about all.

Perfect Reunion Location
We rented for a church ladies retreat. The location of the property was beautiful. The driveway was a little tricky to navigate but the owner warned us ahead of time. Plenty of sleeping, gathering, and relaxing spaces. The water was a little difficult at times but to be expected for a mountain home. We really enjoyed the location and plan to return again with our children and families.

Rustic cabin getaway
Let's first start off by saying Karen is an amazing host. She was quick to respond and help with any questions and requests we had. Instructions of how to enter the property and what to do to turn on everything was very straight forward. The property is definitely a cabin on the side of a mountain. To us, that was just what we wanted. It is a mountain road to get in and while you can make it in a car it may be tricky for some. The outside was taken care of all with the exception of the grass being a bit tall. The condition of the cabin compared to the photos definitely show it is a 12 year old cabin but still in good shape. The inside is spacious enough for a large gathering without feeling like you are on top of each other. The layout was great and each bedroom felt very private. Everyone who stayed had a great time even with near record high temperatures for the time of year. A couple things I wish the cabin had would be a working range hood and some form of AC. The hood does not currently have a fan in it. Also if you plan on staying in the warmer months, plan on bringing a fan or 2 along. There are fans in each bedroom and 3 in the kitchen/living room. The bedroom fans worked fine but the one in the kitchen ( which probably would have helped a lot while cooking) functioned but was hitting the lights so we opted to not use it. Overall a great place for a rustic getaway and you won't find anywhere less exspensive for the number of people it can accommodate. We would definitely rent this place again.

Beautiful outdoor view and many beds
Karen was available to answer any questions. Cabin had many helpful kitchen tools and utensils. The cabin was very spacious! There are blankets there to use, but make sure you bring your own pillows (pillows for sure) and blankets if you are the kind of person who has to have very clean sheets. I brought my own. Some friends didn't mind the sheets provided. Cabin could use some deep cleaning (such as cleaning the stove, couches and some of the walls) but I wasn't too picky about it. So this cabin was a good mixture of rustic and beautiful. After all, you're in a get away into a more nature focused area. We truly enjoyed this place and are planning on reserving again in the future!

For the Outdoorsy Type
Overall, our group of adult family and friends had a wonderful time and enjoyed our weekend stay. I'll start with the outside since that is definitely this home's strongest feature. There is a lovely, large deck with lots of seating and a beautiful westward view of the hills and valleys. There are no visible neighbors so privacy is wonderful and no worry about making too much noise. The fire pit was fantastic and we used it both nights during our weekend stay. Nature is in abundance with all kinds of creatures....but our group loved it! We grilled a lot so having the new grill on the deck was perfect. As far as the inside of the home, I will say it was very spacious and open. There was plenty of sleeping space. The house is a bit antiquated when it comes to amenities. The furniture is aged and stained. The carpets are also aged and stained. The house overall could use a good cleaning, The bedding (pillows and blankets) is not in good shape and I think should just not be offered to guests at all. We were fine with all of our own bedding instead. Some of the flooring in the bathroom and living room seems like it will break through. But as I said, we spent our weekend outside enjoying the best features of this property. We also don't mind a few bugs and a little dirt within reason. The price was right so we were willing to accept some of the downfalls of the inside of the house. We had a great weekend and really enjoyed being together after this horrid pandemic! Oh, the driveway is a bit unnerving...steep, sharp turns, and some significant gullies. Be attentive! We would certainly return for another relaxing weekend.

So disappointed...
I was really looking forward to a great football weekend getaway with my family and this cabin seemed like the perfect place for us all to stay. The views and the outdoor space were perfect. We loved the fire-pit and the ample porch space. BUT the cabin was uncomfortably filthy. The one shower is so tiny and moldy most of the women refused to use it. There are instructions for guests to clean and leave the refrigerator and freezer door open after turning off the power. Clearly nobody stops by to insure this happens. When we arrived both were closed. When opened the smell of mold and mildew was disgusting. We sprayed the refrigerator with bleach and vinegar but didn't feel comfortable putting our food in it so kept food and drinks in coolers on the porch. The commercial stove was grimy and gross. Dirty coffee cups were put away in the moldy cabinets. The furniture is torn and dirty. We brought our own sheets, blankets, pillows and towels and I'm glad we did. The comforters and pillows that were available look like they haven't been washed in years, if ever. Most mattresses thankfully had plastic covers, but not all. I should have known that the price for 7 bedrooms was too good to be true. The sad thing is that I would have gladly paid more to rent this cabin if it were clean and well-maintained.

Great place for a weekend away
It was a great weekend at a great location with great friends... The river was too high to enjoy but we compromised and just had a good time at the cabin having a fire enjoying the view and just hanging out... would definitely like to use this place and do it again in the future..

Beautiful location, great space for a family reunion
The location was amazing at this home with a spectacular view. The house was quite large and well stocked for our extended family. The kids enjoyed playing with the toys and building a blanket for in the bedroom. Good communication with the owner too. One thing to note for future renters, the road up to the house is quite steep. Our Subaru had no problems but my sister-in-law had some problems coming up in her compact car.

We had a fun few days with family.
Great location and very peaceful. The water filter kept clogging up, and had a problem with water pressure, but still had a great time. Freezer wasn't working either. The outside patio is amazing. The bedroom setup accommodates a lot of people comfortably. A lot of comfortable seating. Hope to visit again.

Great Location but....
I had a group of about 8 guys traveling from both sides of the state for a guys weekend and this was a great location for everyone to access with ease. Upon arrival the view and outdoor deck was impressive. Excited for the weekend we began to unpack. After one walkthrough of the house we were covered with fleas. I know its probably no fault of the owner and hopefully the situation was quickly rectified but no one could enter the house with out being swarmed by the bugs. We were forced to sleep outside or in our cars and left early Saturday morning for another location. I called the property owner on check in evening and they couldn't believe there was any problem. I didn't feel over the phone that the owner's really cared that our weekend plans were forced to change. I did receive a refund of our money (minus $50). Not sure why I wasn't totally refunded but it was a cheap enough price anyway so I wasn't going through the hassle of fighting it. The owner seemed to deny any problems with the cabin and didn't really offer any apology or suggest any possible solutions other than that they planned on visiting the cabin in a couple weeks and would check it out. Also when I received the refund check in the mail nearly three weeks later there was no accompanying apology letter or any correspondence of any kind other than the check. The reason for more than one star review is that the cabin is in a really good location with an amazing deck and view. The kitchen was top notch with a huge commercial grade stove/oven and refrigerator. Condition of the furniture was pretty bad with what seems to be animal tears in the chairs and couches. I can't comment much on the interior because we couldn't be inside to experience it. I suppose and hope we just hit some bad luck with the flea issue and hopefully it has been corrected since. It's a cool little place with a great outdoor experience.

A fine getaway spot with a GREAT view!
We rented this cabin just as spring was coming on strong, and just had a great time. All of us are musicians from Toronto, New York City down to Southern MD. Our goal was just to get together and pick on some acoustic music, and boy did we. (No nearby neighbors to complain if we hit a wrong note either...) The place has a huge deck overlooking the valley, and we enjoyed the sunset until an evening chill moved us back indoors. Although there were 7 of us, we were each able to have our own room, and cook our meals in the huge kitchen. A porch swing and picnic tables, Adirondack chairs and rockers, hot showers, an upstairs deck for altitude and privacy....couldn't ask for more. Great spot, and the owners are great folks. We had a blast.

Perfect for a guys weekend!
Rented this for a reunion with some guys I served in the Marine Corps with. It was awesome. There were ten of us that showed up and had a great time catching up. We hung on the huge deck and had great time. The ability to do some target practice outside was awesome. It was an amazing time and we really want to come back!

Great Time For The Bachelor Party
I took a group of 12 of us up there for the weekend and we had a great time!! The cabin was clean. There was more than enough room for everyone to sleep. It was very secluded so we could make as much noise as we wanted. The kitchen and grill were really nice, and the fire pit was great to sit around. The only downfalls of the cabin were the road getting up is very rocky. However I have a tiny car and did not bottom out on the way up so all was well. Second thing was there was alot of mud and water in the horse pit area. However there was a ton rain leading up to that weekend so that most likely was the reason. I definitely plan on renting this place again.

Great for family reunion
We spent a week here with family. Had a wonderful time. No air conditioning, but we made do by swimming at Raystown Lake and the Juniata River. Has a big deck perfect for outdoor meals and hanging out at night. Big eat in kitchen. Only one bathroom but it turned out fine .Reasonable rates for our very large group and the owners are helpful and great to deal with. The river is a short drive down the lane, park and walk across the railroad tracks and down a short path. Went biking at Lower Trail and spent a fun day at Penn's Cave. Very nice small rooms. A great week for our family who used to really rough it. Really private so we could be our noisy goofy selves! Looking forward to a return trip in a yr or two.
