About this property

Cozy, Wooded, Waterfront, Mountain View Cabin on Silver Lake

(Available Rentals are SUNDAY - SUNDAY)

Calendar opens up February 1, 2024

Nature lovers delight! Secluded cabin, on a peninsula, on Silver Lake, at the foot of Mt. Monadnock. We get both morning or afternoon sun on each dock. One dock overlooks the entire lake and has a clear view Mt. Monadnock, and our other dock is in a quiet, private cove with wildlife all around. The peninsula is called Blueberry Point. It is covered with blueberry bushes, and in late July and early August the bushes drip with native blueberries. Bordering our property are well marked Audubon trails and quiet dirt roads. The cabin was built in 1948 and has a beautiful fieldstone fireplace, 2 screened-in porches, and all the basic amenities. Come share our little bit of paradise, listen to the loons and water lapping, as you relax with a good book in the hammock, or take a day in nearby Peterborough or Keene where you will enjoy great restaurants and shopping... with lots of antiquing! Visit the historical town of Harrisville only 5 min. away with a traditional general store with great coffee, baked goods, soups, sandwiches and the New York Times! Take the kids to The Friendly Farm and let them nurse a newborn sheep and feed the goats, then off to mini golf and ice cream. For an active day, climb majestic Mt. Monadnock. Our renters always come back for the peacefulness that seems to balance their lives and give them perspective after a much needed vacation.

We loved the privacy, views, water equipment, & the loons!
Wish Mother Nature was a bit kinder to us. We loved the coziness of the cabin but being out in nature at the same time. The lake & quiet was wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin, amenities, & would highly recommend! Plan on returning!

Marvelous experience
We were there during cool mid-September days after the warmth of the summer and before the warmth of late September. The fireplace was magnificent. The cabin, built in the 1940s, has all the character of that era even though some very helpful upgrades have been made since then. Like indoor plumbing, electricity, comfortable chairs before the fire, clean new cushions on the rocking chairs overlooking the lake porch, gas grill. What an absolutely tranquil respite from the Covid world of the city. We even saw and heard some loons!

Silver Lake
Elegant and rustic. Classy, tasteful, fun. A perfect blend of remote and rustic with just the amenities to make it non-burdensome. Location is unparalleled; the quiet rejuvenating. Terrific experience.

Gorgeous and Peaceful Setting in New Hampshire
For those who want to get away from it all, commune with eagles, breathe super clean air, and enjoy a camp-like atmosphere, this is the place for you. This peninsula in Silver Lake has docks on both sides that facilitate swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and snorkeling with equipment kept in excellent shape. The vista of Mount Monadnock in the distance is mesmerizing and everchanging through the day. The owner is attentive and completely candid about what you are getting with this property. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because although this older cottage is well appointed, clean and charming, it's quirky layout is not for everyone. The sole bathroom is in the back with access through a very tiny kitchen without dishwasher or laundry. One of the two bedrooms is a bunk room that is also small. However, we were rarely inside the house, because the weather was great and we were constantly in or on the lake.

Classic New England Lakeside Experience.
Pristine lake with mountain backdrop. Pine and white cedar rustic, well appointed cottage. Abundent wildlife (we saw black bear, bald eagle, loons and more loons. Enjoy all this with the kayaks, paddle board and canoe provided in the boat house. You could spend all your time just enjoying this. This cottage is also near several nice towns with great shopping and restaurant such as Keene, Peterborough and Brattleboro. All in all a wonderful getaway!

Unique spot on a beautiful NH lake
Very much enjoyed our week spent on Silver Lake. The weather was ideal starting with record high heat and ending with early September-like temperatures. We stayed mostly on the point with lots of time in or on the water. Other highlights: a great concert at Apple Hill, watching fireworks over the lake, a fun evening at Peterborough’s “First Friday”, and a walking tour of Harrisville.

So great for so many reasons!
Nicest lot on the lake! This cabin sits out on a point with water on 3 sides. No neighbors in sight, very private. I felt like I was camping on the waterfront with the comfort of a cabin.... it felt very "Thoreau" like. We went in September when the blueberries were done, but there was plenty to do with the fully stocked boathouse and 2 docks. The lake is very quiet in September, so it was nice to do nothing at all and just watch the wildlife, the water and the woods. The outdoor shower was THE BEST!! Cabin is small, just how we wanted it, rustic, and very well stocked in the kitchen, tons of firewood, and lots of good books and games. We enjoyed the coziness and authenticity of the cabin. A nice little photo book explains the history and making of the cabin in 1947. I loved the "Blueberry Tunnel" to the front door! Owners were great to work with and very easy to reach. We will definitely be back year after year.

Quiet, peaceful and restful!
My husband and I enjoyed our week on Silver Lake. The peace and quiet and beauty of the area were so refreshing. Hearing the loons, playing cribbage, sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch looking at the water, discovering the history of this lovely family cabin...all made for a wonderful time away! Thank you for sharing this beautiful place!

Quiet and peaceful summer lakeside cabin surrounded by blueberry bushes and conserved forest.
This lovely rustic cabin, built in 1947, is a slice of old NH summer life on the lake, and a wonderful place to recharge the spirit. If you love nature, this is the place to be. Secluded on a private peninsula on the less developed end of Silver Lake, surrounded by blueberry bushes, smelling of pine forest, with the ever present sounds of forest birds and the loons calling from the lake.

Nice place to get away from it all!
This was our first time at the cabin. It was lovely! The cabin was exactly as it was described and was perfect for us. We enjoyed the solitude and being away from it all. It was very quiet, relaxing and enjoyable--the way a vacation should be!

In Love With Blueberry Point
This was our third rental of the cabin at Blueberry Point. As was true of the last two times, we loved it. We love the feeling of isolation and total quiet, although I admit that the addition of wi-fi is a big plus. Our routine, as usual, is to spend the vast majority of our time at the cabin, enjoying the lake, especially the kayaking. We generally make several trips to Harrisville (6 miles) for coffee and the New York Times, and one trip to Peterborough for lunch at the diner and shopping at the Toadstool Bookshop. We never go out for an evening meal, largely because it seems too far to go when we could be eating in front of the log fire.

Splendid in every way!
I can say without any reservations that our vacation on Silver Lake was perfect in every way. The cabin was well appointed, games, fireplace, gas grill, warm blankets, utensils, books, views, screen porches and privacy. For us privacy and access to the water is very important and the boathouse cove was ideal for afternoon sun and soak while the lakeside dock was perfect for an early morning swim and coffee or afternoon nap in the hamock. Very few bugs, lots of birds and chipmunk activity...for entertainment. We had one small glitch, called the owner and he responded with good humor and immediate results. Hiked Mt Monadnock one day and took a few trips to Harrisville for ice cream and email. All and all this vacation location is a delightful place if you are interested in quit and relaxation. For myself growing up in NH and spending summers on a lake when "camps" often had no phones, no TV and were all about slowing down and being surrounded by the natural world this was liking coming home. Many thanks to the owners for keeping this slice of old NH alive and well.

Nestled in Nelson
We have been renting this cabin for years, it has become a special family destination and has provided us with so many great memories! It is a cozy rustic cabin, very clean and well cared for. The lake and it's surroundings are like paradise, we are bird lovers and there are so many to see and hear. The lake is the best lake I have ever swam in...crystal clear and warm. We hardly ever leave the canbin and lake but if you need to there is much to do and see, we have a yearly Mt. Monadnock climb.
