About this property

AuSable River Rustic Cabin w/Central Air

Welcome to our cabin on the AuSable River. Our cabin is 50 feet from the river with a slightly elevated private setting that offers you everything you could possibly want to escape into the peaceful serenity Northern Michigan offers. Whether it is fishing, hiking, golfing, kayaking, canoeing or simply escaping to a peaceful relaxing environment, our cabin will suit your needs.

The cabin offers a riverside screened-in porch, 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed while the second bedroom has two sets of bunk beds. We offer a full kitchen, gas grill, washer/dryer and television with DVD. All linens and towels are provided.

The cabin is ideal for 2-4 adults or 2 adult and 2-4 children. We limit the number of adults to 4.

We're located on a prime stretch of the “Holy Waters”, a 'flies only', 'catch and release' section of the AuSable River. Nationally recognized by people all over the world.

Begin or end your kayak/canoeing trip from our dock. Or visit the nearby canoe and kayak liveries in Grayling or Roscommon for your float on the AuSable River.

Grayling is home to the Manistee and AuSable River, which are among the premier trout streams in the nation, offering over one hundred miles of cool, crystal clear streams to explore. Boat access is near by. This cabin is in a prime location. The North Branch AuSable, South Branch AuSable/Mason Tract, Forest Dunes Golf Course and downtown Grayling is literally 10 minutes away.

For those of you that enjoy winter sports, the cabin is located inside the snow-belt region of Michigan. The annual snowfall in this region is significant. Many snow-shoeing, down-hill skiing and cross-country skiing access areas are nearby. We limit our guests to quiet sportsman. No deer hunting, 2-4 wheel recreational vehicles or snowmobiles.

Cozy Cabin on the River

My family and I had a great experience at Wendy's cabin. Communication was great and the cabin was more than advertised. This is also a great spot for fly fisherman.

We had a wonderful stay at this sweet cabin surrounded by nature. There are so many outdoor spaces to enjoy and just unplug. The cabin itself is perfect and well supplied. Excellent on the Holy Waters

My wife and I had a great stay at the cabin, mixing a little fall fly fishing and relaxation. The property is excellent, as is the host. It is spotless, with everything you could need and then some. The cabin felt like a comfortable home and was appointed and supplied as such. Last, but not least is the location, on the river with easy access to town. Overall, 5 stars well earned.

Wonderful little cabin, outstanding hosts

2nd time staying at this hidden gem. Accommodations and communication with host are great, super clean, has everything you need besides a standard coffee maker. This is by design I do believe, to prevent people from putting coffee grounds down the sink. Keurig and oercolator are provides instead and work fine.

Not a “Rustic Cabin”

The author John Gierach says All Fishermen are Liars, this is in part is due to their reluctance to give up a good place the fish for fear others will ruin it. Well I’ll be the exception. Wendy’s River Place is the cleanest, most well equipped rental I’ve ever stayed at. We had four fishing cronies stay for four day and never once had to make a store run. Temperatures during our stay ranged from 35F at night to 83F in the afternoon (ah Michigan) and we were comfortable throughout. Even with a wheelchair we were able to successfully maneuver through the house. Our exceptions were a fishing cabin and we ended up we a place any of us would easily bring our wives and families to. As to Gierach’s concerns, we can only hope there will be availability next year for a return visit. To Wendy - well done, and thanks for sharing.

The cabin was great! Super clean, everything you would need in a cabin stay was provided. Caught a brown trout just north of the cabin. Easy river access. Less than 15min from restaurants and fly shops.

Perfect escape to Northern Michigan!

We stayed here for a long weekend to getaway and relax and got exactly that. The spot right on the river is beautiful and we can only imagine it in the warmer months! The cabin had everything we could have possibly needed to have a great stay and would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful spot. Our dog loved the spot too! Hopefully we will be back soon!

Fall break family fishing trip

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The cabin was so beautiful and very clean and organized. Wendy was such a great host and provided detailed information about the home and surrounding area. My husband fished while the kids and I explored the property. We sat around a campfire and made so many wonderful memories. We look forward to visiting again!

We came up to see the fall colors and do some grouse hunting. I was surprised by how nice of a location Wendy’s place was. Meticulously clean. Lots of nice fishing and wildlife decor to go with the holy waters au sable vibe. We will definitely be back

Cozy Fishing Weekend

We had an exceptional stay at Wendy’s cabin. The house was beautiful, clean, and had gorgeous river views. We spent many hours fly fishing and loved coming back to the cabin to start a fire and relax. Wendy was so easy to communicate with and really made this stay stress free. au sable get-a-way

This was a perfect location for anyone who loves the Au Sable and all the recreation it can provide. Wendy's cabin was so clean and welcoming and has beautiful access to the river The cabin was stocked with everything we needed and all of the check in instructions were well explained and timely in their arrival. Wendy was very communicative and did everything possible to make our stay a wonderful one...which it was! We will definitely plan to return!

We are fishing and paddling enthusiasts that have explored much of the United States. We have paddled and fished many rivers in Michigan and found the AuSable River our favorite. So in 2003 we settled in Grayling for our recreational home.

Why they chose this property

We chose the Grayling area mostly because of the access to the AuSable River and it's tributaries. We also liked this location because it is centrally located in Northern Michigan making the rivers, parks and other attractions easily accessible.

What makes this property unique

We love our cabin because it is warm, homey, we have privacy and yet views of the river. The screened porch allows watching the river flow by without being bothered by the hatches that are common on the river.
