About this property
Cozy, Charming Riverfront Retreat #1
Welcome to the beautiful Huron River Retreat! We have a new gazebo with two picnic tables by the 100’ of frontage on the beautiful Huron River! We have a fire pit, 4 kayaks, a canoe & a dock! This renovated condo has 2 bdrms, 1 king-bed, 1 queen, & 1 inner-spring futon in LR & 1 bath. The location is PERFECT-convenience & a river! You’re right off the freeway & walking distance to many conveniences! Detroit is about 20 minutes away & Monroe is about 15 minutes away & a 1/2 hr. from Toledo & less than 5 miles from Beaumont Hospital! CLOSE TO METRO PARK, STATE LAND, HUNTING/FISHING!
This beautiful apartment/condo is on the first floor with only one small step to get into the building! You also have a wonderful view of the Huron River from the kitchen/breakfast nook area! We've also just added a 42" Roku television to the breakfast nook!
The inner-spring & memory foam futon is incredibly comfortable in the living room. It’s best for 2 children or 1 adult. We just added streaming cable!
This renovated two-bedroom apartment Is fully furnished with everything you should need in the kitchen. The living room has a 40" Roku TV with Netflix and streaming cable. We just installed brand new distressed hickory hardwood floors! Yes! That is a baby grand piano that you see. You’re welcome to play it, just please be respectful of the inner workings.
The first bedroom has a king-sized bed that is extremely comfortable! There’s both a small closet and armoire. Another closet is just outside the bedroom door. The iron is on the shelf in the closet.
The second bedroom is small, but it has a pillow-top queen bed and a mid-century modern dresser. Need more space? There's a large closet outside of the bedroom!
We just love how convenient the apartment is! It’s the best of both worlds! The backyard has a very “up North” feel. There is all kinds of wildlife including geese, ducks, groundhogs, and many deer that come into the yard! Right across the river is state land-it’s great to go across the river and explore the woods!
We have a large parking lot and it’s only 10 miles from Fermi!! It can accommodate most boats! You have one parking spot but there’s usually enough space for two vehicles.
You are right by Pointe Mouillee State Game Area and Lake Erie Metropark! Bring your bikes for some wonderful trails! GREAT FISHING!! However, you are two doors away from a Marathon convenience store, three doors away from The River Village restaurant-GREAT food at very good prices, especially their early bird breakfast, and about a half mile away from the local Huron River Inn, a charming little local bar with very reasonable food prices!
You are welcome to use our kayaks, however, you must take full responsibility for them and put them back the way that you found them. You need to let us know if you are borrowing them and take a picture upon return. Please do not use our kayaks or canoe unless you’re experienced. The paddle boat is not available. The current is usually too strong for it.
Please be aware that you are on a relatively busy street, and although the yard feels as though you’re up north, the road traffic can get noisy. If you’re a very light sleeper, we’ve added a white noise machine in the bedroom. It has multiple settings, rain, waves, nature or just the sound of a fan. Enjoy!
We’re told that the building is the original general store. It is a very large old building and it was renovated into four apartments. Consequently, it’s not a typical apartment building and there are no shared walls. There is a hallway separating all the units and a 4 foot crawlspace between floors. You still might hear the guests above you, but it's much quieter than most spaces and we’ve recently added even more sound-proofing!
Please let us know immediately if anything is amiss! FYI, We are still working on landscaping.
RATINGS:
We strive for 5 stars for our guests.
We humbly request that as a guest, you make your needs/wants known and allow us to make everything as comfortable and convenient as possible. Please be aware that short-term ratings are not the same as hotel ratings. 4's are considered unacceptable.
We have an extensive checklist of items, and it's possible that something might be left out, but please allow us the opportunity to rectify any issue.
Most importantly, please enjoy the beautiful river and our guest spaces as much as we do!!!
Other things to note:
The bedding for the futon is in the footstool in the large bedroom.
Note that while completely updated, the bathroom is relatively small. We apologize, but this is an old building.
Please bring bug spray! We do have monthly service, however, they are not allowed by law to get within 20 feet of the river itself. Additionally, there are many insects along with the wonderful wildlife! Please be aware that this is a waterfront property and woods are directly across the river from us. Bugs might get inside; just let us know if there is any issue.
Stays over two weeks: In order to maintain the property and for your convenience, we provide, bi-monthly cleaning services.

About the host
Hosted by Elayne Petrucci

My husband Paul and I love hosting our guests and meeting people from all over! He's a hydraulic pipe-fitter and I'm a high school English, Theatre and Speech teacher. We have five children and four lively granddaughters! We spent seven years renovating and obtaining the certificate of occupancy. Not going to lie, we often just came out with friends and family and kayaked, floated, swam, fished and had bonfires.
We want you to enjoy this property as much as we do! Please reach out with any requests or questions!

Why they chose this property
We love how incredibly safe and convenient this neighborhood is! It's right by stores, restaurants, an exceptional amount of wildlife and it's only about 20 minutes to Detroit and Monroe!
What makes this property unique
This property is so unique because of its incredibly accessible location the fact that the backyard feels as though you're up North! We have 100' of Huron River frontage and woods across from our property. You could see deer, groundhogs, egrets, mink and you might even see an eagle or two!
