New! Pet Friendly/Family Friendly Retreat with Epic Mountain Views - Horizon Ridge

Welcome to the Horizon Ridge Retreat!

From the moment you step onto the grounds of Horizon Ridge, the incredible views of the Mosquito Range will take your breath away! Located at an elevation of 11,362 ft, the surrounding pines give way to majestic mountain and valley views for as far as the eye can see.

Step through the door of your Park County retreat and relish in the peace and tranquility of this heavenly home with your furry family and your loved ones by your side. The classic mountain cabin offers an open-concept Kitchen and Great Room with floor to ceiling windows filled with beautiful mountain views. The well appointed Kitchen features stainless steel appliances, plentiful counter space and is stocked with all the cooking and baking gadgets and accouterments you might need to whip up a delicious meal. Start your day off with a fresh and tasty brew while you enjoy the beautiful views from the spacious, elevated deck or sink into one of the cozy couches of the Great Room. With vaulted ceilings, the bright and cheerful Great Room offers plush overstuffed seating, centered around a television and an easy-to-use gas fireplace. At the adjacent dining table, settle in for meal time or a fun board game, with comfortable seating for 6, while there is additional high-top seating for 2 at the nearby Kitchen bar. Down the Hallway, The Central Bathroom offers a standard vanity, toilet and a bathtub/shower combo where you can choose to start your day with a quick refreshing rinse, or sink in for a long soak after days filled with fun and adventure. The spacious Master Suite at the end of the hallway, offers woodland views through a large window, custom log furniture, a comfortable king size bed, access to a private deck and an En Suite Bathroom that features a double vanity, toilet and a large shower. Across the hallway, the Bear Bedroom features a large dresser and closet with a plush queen size bed fitted with our cozy cotton bed linens. Relish in the classic mountain cabin decor, with thoughtful accents, and unique personal touches throughout the house that will have you feeling right at home.

Down the stairs to the ground floor of the house, you'll find a spacious entertainment room with comfortable leather seating centered around a corner wood stove and television. There's something fun for everyone, whether you choose to snuggle in next to the wood stove with a great book, gather for a favorite movie, challenge a friend to a competitive game of darts or choose from the numerous board games and card games available. The sliding glass door grants access to the Side Deck, while directly across the Entertainment Room, you'll find a Ground Floor Bathroom and corner Bedroom. The Ground Floor Bathroom offers a standard vanity, toilet and a bathtub/shower combo. The Fisherman's Nook Bedroom features a large dresser, spacious closet and a queen size bed outfitted with rustic fisherman's decor. Wake well-rested and refreshed after a great night's sleep on our cozy cotton bed linens. The Ground floor of the home has a neat and orderly Laundry Room with a washer and dryer available for guest use, so no need to waste precious vacation time making trips to the laundromat in town. Guests also have access to one bay of the garage (a rare find for rentals in this area!) that makes loading and unloading all the necessary gear for your high alpine adventures a breeze.

With multiple deck spaces to choose from, there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out, relax and unwind. The primary elevated deck is easily accessed from the Great Room and offers a Propane BBQ grill, patio furniture for summertime lounging and a large gas fire pit backed by breathtaking mountain views. The other deck spaces are quiet and secluded areas, perfect for a quiet afternoon of rest and relaxation. Valley of the Sun is home to a variety of wildlife and this spectacular location affords opportunities to observe moose, elk, deer and foxes (just to name a few of the critters!) right on the property.

The driveway is plowed in the winter and the roadways are maintained by the county, but 4-WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES ARE REQUIRED from November through May due to the frequent snow storms in this area.

Park County is an activity center of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, it's a great "base camp!" If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. Activities include skiing, snowboarding, hiking, mountain climbing, snow-shoeing, horseback riding (winter too!), ice climbing, fishing, hunting, rafting, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling, mine exploration, canoeing, kayaking, and much much more.

Mountain getaway

We were looking for an out of the way place to spend a week and we found it. The size was more than we needed for the 2 of us but it is a fantastic layout for either multiple couples(3) of a large family. The house was very clean. The check in and out was a breeze with good communication. We are from Florida(sea level) so acclimatizing to 11,500’ took a day or so but the amenities of the house and the views made it a breeze to relax inside for the day. Highly recommend this house. the house.

Amazing

This house was perfect in so many ways. To start the layout for a family or a small group of friends is absolutely perfect. The house was stocked with everything we needed to cook and the beds were comfortable. The view cannot be beat. The location is a perfect proximity to getting a ski vacation, but also getting away from all the hustle and bustle that Breckenridge brings. I cannot wait to go back!

Beautiful & Comfortable Cabin

We had a wonderful time at Horizon Ridge! Beautiful views and the cabin felt like home. Super comfortable beds and my husband now wants a reclining sofa! I loved that the kitchen had everything you could need and my boys had a blast working on the puzzles!

Thanksgiving Holiday

We had a very enjoyable time at Horizon Ridge over the 2024 Thanksgiving holiday (Wed-Sun). We had 5 adults and a pet (dog). House was very comfortable and as advertised - kitchen well stocked for us to cook Thanksgiving dinner. Very good communication with Property Manager (only issue was downstairs gas fireplace not working). Views are outstanding as is the neighborhood (Valley of the Sun). We would definitely return and would highly recommend this property.

Horizon Ridge stay was great

We rented Horizon Ridge northwest of Fairplay for 9 nights in late September 2024. Our experience was great. The house was as described. They provided all the information needed on a timely basis. They checked in with us during our stay to see if we needed anything. I can't think of anything else they could have done to make our stay more pleasant. The views were exceptional. The house was way more than we needed of course but it was great having so much room. I'm not sure how the location, property and experience could have been better.

Great weekend getaway for our family

This house was amazing for our weekend getaway as a family. We absolutely loved the location and our experience. It was equipped with everything we needed. They were very easy to work with when we requested an extra night due to the weather. I would highly recommend this place. The reason for the 4 stars goes to cleanliness. I understand this is a dog friendly place, however, it is in need of a deep clean. There was dog fur on the carpets, furniture and bedding. So much so that we had to go into town to purchase allergy medication for my husband and children. We brought our dog, and we never allow her on the furniture or beds. It's clear that people don't follow the rules and allow their dogs wherever they want. Given the expense of the cleaning fee, I would have expected a better cleaning service with less fur. That would be my only complaint. Otherwise, we loved it.

View from the top!

This house is very spacious and beautiful! The views are priceless. We felt very at home and cozy on the top of a mountain. I could not recommend this rental more. Go and see for yourself, you won't regret it!

Be prepared during snow season.

Beautiful. Take serious the descriptions. We were warned about MUST HAVE 4WD and we thought we'd be fine as amateurs form south. We weren't. Thanks to local taxi and towing, we did thoroughly enjoy our stay.

Amazing Stay!

THANK YOU for an amazing stay at the Horizon Ridge Retreat! The cabin has such a cozy atmosphere with very comfortable beds, cozy decor, games, and lots of space, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the mountains! The large and fully-stocked kitchen was also a highlight, as we were able to cook many meals and enjoy the dining space. The location of the cabin is absolutely stunning! The view was SO beautiful, especially during our snowy stay - we didn't want to leave! The host had great and quick communication when we had some questions, including a binder with additional information, phone numbers, etc. We would definitely recommend Horizon Ridge Retreat to anyone looking for a cozy, comfortable, and fun getaway! We had an amazing time and hope to return again soon!

Perfect getaway!!

Me and my wife decided the weekend before Labor day weekend to try and find a place in Colorado for us and our 2 dogs to go close to where we could hike and take our Jeep on some trails. Sooo glad we found this place! The only negative thing was we couldn't use the master bedroom ceiling fan/light or the breaker would flip. There is a lamp in there though which was perfectly fine since we were only there to sleep. The view from the top deck is absolutely beautiful!! We would definitely stay here again!

Fantastic!

We've stayed at several cabins in the Fairplay area, and this one ranks WAY up there--like 11,460 ft up there. Rarefied air. In all seriousness, this is a great property. It's quiet and private, but with a few cabins nearby so you don't feel completely isolated. Very safe vibe. We liked being able to pull our vehicle into the garage to avoid bear issues. Furniture and decor is all super comfortable and the kitchen is nicely equipped. We spent a lot of time out on the deck, and small details like a gate at the top to keep the pup from wandering off just made things easier and more relaxing. I wish we could have stayed a week instead of three nights. We'll be back! One thing I did not see mentioned in the description is that this cabin is located about a half mile down the road from the start of the Pennsylvania Mountain trailhead and the top of the Pika trail. So, if you enjoy a stroll through an alpine meadow with beautiful flowers or hiking up another 1500 feet or so to a mountain peak, that's all right nearby, within walking distance.
