This home is pet friendly!! Bedding: 6 queens and 2 twins plus cot
You'll feel like a movie star when you stay at O'Neill's Getaway, really! This home is featured in the ICE Agent movie which was released fall 2016. The movie stars Michael Madsen and Joanna Pacula. This home is in the perfect location. You can be at local restaurants in minutes by boat or car but are still tucked away in the trees. An elegantly appointed home with a contemporary floor plan that is full of natural light; this home has it all. Also includes a pool table! A wooded pathway leads to the dock and a private sandy beach. Fire-pit located on the property!! The gourmet kitchen has two full size refrigerators, a large island and huge table or you can take lunch out to one of the 4 picnic tables! Several sets of new stoneware added. Three stories offer privacy to even the largest families and plenty of space to spread out! Wonderful screened in porch included for guests!! On the top level there are 3 bedrooms. One with a queen, one with a queen and twin and a master suite with 2 queens. Also 2 full bathrooms, both with double sinks on the top level. The main level has a huge bright living room with large flat screen and BluRay player, full bathroom, large eat-in kitchen and access to the deck and screened porch. The porch offers plenty of seating and 1 large gas grill. The lowest level has a family room, pool table, full bathroom, laundry and 2 more bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen and one has a queen and a twin. Please note-this property has 100 stairs from home to water and has a steep incline to dock.

Great family getaway

We loved our week at the lake house! Great location on the lake and the house had everything we needed. We had 2 small children and the beach area was absolutely perfect for them to swim and play. The steps are a challenge but we were well aware of them ahead of time so we made sure the folks that came were physically able to handle them.

Best ever

We have been doing family vacations for 4 years now and ONeills Getaway is by far the best vacation rental we've had. Orher reviews stated the 90 steps up and down was a bit much but we found them not an issue. The small beach area and shallower water was perfect for the 3 year olds to play at. My 2 labs had a ball playing in the water and being able to stand. The house was super clean and fresh. Plenty of cookware and dishes. The double fridges was a tremendous help.

Everything We Needed

The home was beautiful and comfortable - perfect for our family of 10. We don't eat out and the kitchen had everything we needed. The location on the lake is close to the boat rental location and other attractions. Nice fire pit, grill in good condition, loved the screened-in porch.

On the water

Very nice house and property. Bit of a climb from water to house. 109 steps plus a stretch of sloped pathway. Also being on the main channel means a lot of boat traffic and constant waves rocking my boat that was docked at the property. Would not recommend for elderly because of the workout going up and down the climb to the water

Beautiful home right on the lake

We had two families staying at the property. It is indeed a hike down the many stairs to the water, but the views and the dock are delightful! We rented a pontoon boat for several days, and it was very handy to be able to dock it at our property. We found the kitchen very well stocked, the TV's to be excellent, and the beds all very comfortable. Thank you!

Wonderful house

The house was set up nice for our family. We had plenty of space for the 14 of us. We enjoyed the boat dock and swimming area most. I would consider renting this house again

Vacation 2021

The property was exactly as pictured and described, their was no surprises The kitchen was well stocked, the screen porch was are every night hang out destination. All 3 floors worked well for large families. The beach was perfect for small children, fishing was great., quiet area, but those steps are tough for those out of shape and small children.. Will probably stay again.

Our family's new favorite spot

Never vacationed at Smith Mountain lake before. We are typically a beach family and all swimmers. But the kids wanted to do something different on this family vacation. Found this house, lake front which is what we all wanted. The house was great, more than enough room for all 14 of us, 8 adults, 6 gran kids under 7. Big kitchen and dining area. BTW, the kitchen had every possible item anyone would need or want in the kitchen. Wonderful screened in porch for lounging around anytime of day or night. The small beach was perfect for the grand kids swimming. The roof covered dock and attached floating dock was perfect for the adu

Even the 90 steps are worth it..

The house is spacious and the kitchen is well stocked. We really appreciated all the shaded areas the property had to offer. It made the hot days less miserable. The floating dock was fine as long as the lake was calm. The neighborhood residents seemed very curious upon our arrival. They would drive, walk, jog, etc past the house several times and stop or linger to watch us unloading our vehicles. We found that odd but the location overall was perfect. Can't wait to come back!

We were disappointed in the view from the house.

We were warned about the steep steps but they were a bit too much for the young as well as the older. The feel of being on the lake was only evident when you were actually down at the lake. There were no lake views from the house. A nice, well furnished home but not for us. Thanks for the hospitality.

For Anyone that wants a home away from home!

For anyone who wants a beautiful home away from home this is the place! This is huge lot of land, secluded, easy access, plenty of parking and the condition of the home is like new. Fantastic, spacious, bright living areas and the all-around screened in porch is wonderful for grilling and many ‘outdoor’ meals. The home is in great shape with a cool and comfortable open layout. SO much room! Plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms and large enough for multi-family get togethers without any crowding. The kitchen was more than well equipped with every appliance (and multiples of many of those appliances)... The yard was perfect – the multiple, large fire pits with great chairs were great for evening relaxing, s’mores and storytelling around the fire. Then, there is the water – I am partial to the water, so water access is a must at any spot I visit. And this one did not disappoint – one of the best! Big covered dock with picnic tables, connected to a large floating dock, and private sandy beach front along the rest of the property – spent most of every day on the dock, on the beach, in the water, relaxing and enjoying! That is what I call a vacation. Also, can rent boats in town, just a short distance away, and pull them right up to the dock to take out on the lake anytime. Easy to contact owners and responses are always quick. Would recommend O’Neill’s Getaway to everyone! We went this past June and can’t wait to be back!!

Great house in a beautiful spot

This house has lots of space and easily accommodates large numbers of people. All the bedrooms and full baths allow everyone to spread out and get ready for the day at their own leisure. We particularly liked the fact that as many of the beautiful trees as possible were preserved. So the house is nestled in a beautiful wooded setting!The large open kitchen makes it easy to prepare meals and sitting out on the screened in deck at night was fantastic.Everyone enjoyed the private sandy beach with the fire pit and the covered dock was awesome! I highlly recommend this vacation house.It is first rate!

Perfect house and property for a family vacation!

Super clean, big house. Loved all the bathrooms! The outdoor areas were wonderful ... we especially loved the private beach during the day and fire pit area at night! This is truly the perfect family vacation house! We're hoping to make it an annual trip.

Nice big house.

Very clean. Nice big house so we all had plenty of room to spread out. Downstairs game room is great for teens. We loved the sandy beach and woodland setting. Well furnished kitchen and loved the double refrigerators. We loved having a full bathroom on each floor. Four full baths helped everyone get ready for the day with no waiting.
