Early Summer/Fall Discounts! 4 Bdrm Beach Front Home on Traverse Bay!

Covid-19 Update: Singing Sands, with its secluded home and private beach on a sparsely populated peninsula in the North of Michigan, is the perfect place to safely and confidently enjoy summer fun with your family. We are taking special cleaning precautions to ensure that when you arrive, it has been prepared with your family's care and safety as our first priority.

Sugar white sands and blue water are the main attractions in this beautiful paradise. Emerald green forests surround the property give one the feeling of peace and privacy, and the beach is right out your door. Walk in the woods, go for a sailing adventure, or relax by a bonfire on the beach!

This is an amazing location that will have you coming back again and again to a pristine white sandy beach on West Grand Traverse Bay. Singing Sands is named as such because when you walk on the sand it 'sings' to you. This cozy 4 bedroom 3 bath rustic cabin will sleep 8 with 2 Queen, 2 Full. Home is 2 levels with 3 bedrooms upstairs and one on the lower level. Lower level bedroom has private entrance, attached bath, and is wheelchair accessible. Fully stocked kitchen. Flat Screen TV/VCR/DVD. Washer/Dryer. Charcoal Grill. Linens are included. No smoking. No central heat, but a small pot-bellied stove in the living room and electric heat in 2 bedrooms.

Location is private in a wooded setting that opens to the beach. Big deck off of living room. Peace and quiet and spectacular in beauty. Minutes to the village of Northport where you can pick up groceries, gift shop, dine or have some beach fun at the marina. The town of Omena has a great winery and bar, art gallery and country grocery store. Pick up fresh local produce through the county. 15 minutes to Leelanau Lighthouse. Short drive to the casino. Lake Michigan is a great location for beach-combing and rock collecting. Traverse City is a half-hour away. Omena is home to a bird sanctuary for bird watchers. This is a magical place for an equally magical vacation.

One or two well-mannered dogs will be considered on a case-by-case basis (please ask when booking). No other pets allowed.

Outstanding home!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home on the gorgeous Leelanau Peninsula! The home had a nice layout with plenty of room for our family. We all loved the private beach and surrounding wooded area and we so appreciated the home was pet friendly. The location was excellent with lots to do in the area when we weren’t relaxing on the beach. Truly a perfect Michigan Up North vacation!

Amazing

This is our second stay at this property. The secluded beach is great for the kids to play on and look for Petoskey Stones. The property is clean and even had some upgrades this year from last year. We once again loved it here. The neighbors and locals are very nice in the neighborhood and in the towns or Northport and Suttons Bay. You won't regret your stay here. Enjoy the sunrise over the bay.

Wonderful getaway

The wooded location and private beach were wonderful. We brought along a kayak, and had a great time in beautiful Traverse Bay. We stayed in during our stay due to COVID, but in different times the little town we drove through that is nearby, Sutton’s Bay, is quite charming and worth checking out. The galley-style kitchen is tight but if you plan accordingly-simple meals-it’s no big deal, plus there’s a nice grill outside a good array of pots and pans.

Amazing beach and location

This very rustic cabin is worth the location, beach and views from the deck. The master suite definitely adds a special touch as the other two main floor bedrooms are very small (and needing new carpet). I would have preferred much less clutter in the cabin as it seems as though they use it for generations of family artifacts and storage. But overall, we really enjoyed our stay and the peace and quiet of our campfires on the pristine and sandy beach.

Do it

This is an amazing beachfront property. My family and I usually stay in Traverse City but we tried something different this year. We wish we switched a long time ago. The communication was great with the owner. The house was clean when we arrived. The beach is unbeatable, felt like a private beach. The Milky Way was popping in the sky over the bay. It is private and hardly any traffic for our kids to ride their bikes. It is a short trip away from Suttons Bay and Northport. The sunrise is stunning. Overall, you will not regret booking this.

Private Sandy Beachfront & Great Location

The location of this house is fantastic, located between Suttons Bay and Northport, with plenty to do and lots of places to eat in both towns, and only 30 minutes from Traverse City. The private sandy beach was great! The kids loved playing in the sand and getting their toes wet in the water. There's a firepit on the beach and we enjoyed relaxing there at night gazing at all the stars. The house faces east on the bay and the sunrises were breathtaking. The Hosts are great, and they were very responsive to all questions. The house left a bit to be desired and was more Rustic than anticipated. It has plenty of room, but aside from the master, the two other bedrooms on the main floor are very small, with poor lighting. Without daylight, and the natural light provided by numerous skylights, the lighting throughout the entire house is poor, only provided by lamps. Playing games in the evening at the dining room table was near impossible with the only light is provided by one dimly lit lamp hung over the table. All the bathrooms are nicely remolded, however, mine had a big carpenter ant issue, I would find one or two every time I used the bathroom. Aside from the carpenter ants, the house also had a huge fruit fly infestation that needs to be addressed. Everyone gets fruit flies once in a while, but not to this extent. I would not have been put off by seeing a dish of apple cider vinegar left out to attract them and keep them out of my drink, or by ant traps left in various spots.

Michigan Escape

The house was exactly what our family needed! Rooms for everyone to stay and plenty of outdoor area where we spend 90% of our time at. The house is close to two towns which gave us areas to dine at however seclusion from the hustle and bustle of a town. I hope to return again next year.

Beautiful beach for kids and adults

We stayed at Singing Sands for a week with family from out of town. Our group was 5 adults and 3 kids, ages 4-7. Jessica was very communicative and helpful leading up to our stay. The house was so spacious and we each were able to have our own space and bathroom In the house. The house is comfortable and eclectic, outfitted with everything we needed, just had to buy food. The private beach is spectacular. The water is crystal clear and the bottom Sandy. It was the perfect swimming spot for our group! Amina is a very cute town and the peninsula has so many cool spots to visit that are just a short drive away. We would highly recommend this property and can’t wait to book it again for next year

Needs attention

The property location can’t be beat - quiet area of the Grand Traverse Bay. The property itself needs attention. Upon check-in the property had not been cleaned, which was immediately addressed by the property manager and owner, upon which we were extremely thankful. The property seemed to have extensive water damage in the lower basement quarters with visible damage on walls and window treatments. The dehumidifier was undersized and needed to be emptied every 4 hours. Active rodent activity inside the property was documented. The beach was small but adequate for our group. Local rentals of kayaks and water sport equipment made our stay better. We frequent Northern Lower Michigan yearly and plan to return to the area again, but would not rent this property again.

Better described as semi-rustic, with no air or dishwasher

My husband and I have been renting vacation homes for the past 20 years. Although we’ve had some hiccups before, we always felt satisfied with our rental and what we paid for it. This was the first time we did not feel as though what was charged for this vacation home was equal to what we experienced. Pros: 1. Unique, artistic, yet rustic vibe 2. You can tell that the owners put their heart into some of the design and building of this rental, which makes it special. 3. This home offers a moderate level of privacy. 4. The sunrises are amazing. 5. The bathrooms are beautiful. Cons: 1. This home was experiencing a gnat and rodent issue while we were there. Due to no air conditioning in the home, nighttime was unpleasant between the mugginess and gnats combined. 2. WiFi and internet is almost non-existent. 3. The kitchen could be better stocked with dishes, bowls, cookie sheets, etc. 4. There were no Covid-19 cleaning and sanitizing products visible, as advertised. 5. The beach is very small, which we were aware of, but also extremely rocky, which we were not prepared for. This was something that was not stated in their advertisement. 6. Better lighting is needed for the sink/vanity areas. To be fair, we did not alert the owners to our issues with the home until we got home. This was due to several reasons, including the poor cell, wifi, and internet service (which made communication difficult at times), not wanting waste time during our vacation hashing our issues, and finally, we did not want any other people entering the home during our stay (due to Covid-19 and wanting to maintain a sanitized environment). We did alert the owners at the end of our stay and their response to our concerns were minimal. Overall, this home has a great deal of potential. However, modifications need to be made in order to make their rental price equal to their home.

Great cottage with private beach!

I had the pleasure of staying at this cute cottage for 2 weeks! Its definitely older and has a strong cottage feel, but that’s exactly what we wanted. We had a couple minor issues through our stay but Jessica handled them immediately. At one point we had 8 adults and an infant who all fit very comfortably. The master bedroom is huge! The basement is a little musty smelling but not horrible and the kitchen is tiny but we made it work, grilling or cooking basically every meal. The location and beach make up for everything that could be wrong on the inside! The beautiful deck looking out on the water, beautiful sunrises, big enough sandy beach for all of us to relax and my 1.5 year to play with all her sand toys, perfect crystal clear water, little frog pond that my daughter loved, and close to so many attractions! Easy drive to northport and Sutton’s bay, Lake Michigan beaches, fishtown, wineries, golf, etc. We had the best time!

Great location but very dated, “rustic” & in need of TLC

Location is great, phenomenal sunrise views and I guess for what you are paying, the value is in that. We enjoyed mornings on the beach and kids loved catching frogs in the small pond. Appreciated that there was a washer & dryer there & that linens were provided. Overall though, this place was disappointing and has an obvious lack of pride in ownership. Upon check in, it was extremely dirty. Cobwebs and dead bugs in every corner, window, on light fixtures and under furniture. Obvious humidity issues and has a musty smell to the whole place, especially lower level (where there is a dehumidifier but it needs to be emptied 1-2 times a day). We had 3 kids (one a newly mobile baby) so we spent about 6 hours cleaning the whole place upon arrival. Furniture and decor is a complete hodge podge of what seems to be hand me downs or garage sale finds (filled with completely random Knick knacks in drawers, cupboards, etc.). It seems this was an inheritance from grandma that never got purged. Artwork is extensive but odd. Kitchen layout is completely dysfunctional... as my grandma used to call them, a “one ass kitchen”, you can’t even open the silverware and utensil drawers. There was a leak under the kitchen sink and fridge is plugged in using an extension cord & power strip. Kitchen could use some cookie / pizza sheet pans, a pizza cutter. Grill was all rusted out and nasty so we bought a charcoal grill and left it there. No screens on several windows and sliding screen doors have broken handles. Bed in one of the bedrooms (one w no closet or dresser) broke while we were there and my husband had to stack books under the bed in order for my kids to continue sleeping on it). I did communicate with Jessica throughout our stay and she seemed to be unaware of any issues and was very apologetic and disappointed in her maintenance / cleaning crew. She also provided us with a partial refund. We’ve rented many places all over northern Michigan and for the rate that’s charged, they really need to give this place an overhaul of a thorough purge, organization and deep clean as well as ripping up of the carpets. Could be a real gem, just needs some elbow grease and TLC. Would definitely rent again if these issues are remedied. I hope they are!

Peaceful setting, charming house, sandy beach, wooded lot

Peaceful setting, charming house, sandy beach, wooded lot. We felt so relaxed here and were delighted every day with the beauty of this setting. It's rustic but that was part of the charm. We rented some kayaks from Sutton's Bay Bikes and were out on the water every day. There weren't a lot of motorized watercraft around and it was mostly quiet. My kids loved swimming, digging and skipping stones. We made a fire in the fire pit right on the beach. There are a few minor inconveniences like the wi-fi is pretty spotting so you can't really watch any of the streaming tv without it buffering but there is a DVD player, you can use, if you bring some DVD's with you. The basement bedroom has a dehumidifier but it has trouble keeping up with the moisture so the bathroom floor is always damp. But that bedroom has a fantastic sitting room with windows looking at the lake. The house could use a few additions like: a cookie sheet, a pizza tray, a serving bowl, a hairdryer, screens in the windows of the front bedroom that's next to the hall bathroom and a dresser for that room. A couple of subtractions like the bookcase and books in the front bedroom would make space for a dresser. These were all really minor tweaks though. We loved the property and would definitely return!

Cabin Retreat

This is a true rustic northwoods cabin. Beautiful private beach with great views of Grand Traverse Bay. No air conditioning, but the air coming off the water is so cool that AC isn't really necessary unless it's just plain crazy hot. Owners were very nice and responsive. Only complaints are the slightly musty smell of the carpets and the really weak water pressure.

Awesome location and beach!

We had a wonderful stay at this house. The location is amazing. It sits on a beautiful beach with tons of privacy. We really enjoyed using the fire pit each night on the beach. The house came nicely equipped with beach toys for the kids and comfy beach chairs. Omena is adorable and a quick ride to larger towns like Leland and Northport. I was worried about the other reviews that talked about the house smelling musty, especially since we were the first renters this summer. It was musty like many lake houses, but not overwhelming like some of the reviews seemed to say. I’ve definitely been in lake houses far mustier than that! My only other concern was the spiral staircase leading down to the basement, which is in the living room. It was a little stressful with our toddler. We blocked it with furniture and it ended up being ok. Just giving a heads up to other families with small children, especially if they are really active or curious. Chris and Jessica were super responsive and attentive hosts. We would definitely consider staying there again!
