Beautiful remote property
We were at St. Mary’s for a swim meet. After being in a loud indoor pool all day, coming back to this quiet property with the soothing water was the reset we all needed. There were three generations of us and we all commented that we liked the place better each day— others have commented on how well-equipped the kitchen was (and it is) and the property was a delight for my 8 year old son, who explored just about every inch. Owners were super responsive and generous. Really loved this stay. Thanks!

Cute place
Overall the place was nice. Cute house with beautiful views. Only complaint were the beds, specifically the twin beds. We were there for a swim meet and the athletes really needed sleep. The teens said the beds were so hard and uncomfortable, they couldn't sleep. Luckily we brought an air mattress just in case.

Quiet and Comfy
We came down for a swim meet at St. Marys College and wanted to be somewhere more relaxing than a hotel. This property was perfect. It was super clean and the kitchen was stocked so I was able to cook healthy meals for the family every day instead of having to eat out. My son wants to come back when its warmer so he can fish.

Rural on the water setting
My son is stationed at PAX and daughter lives in Virginia. My me my husband, father and German Shepard we live in Ohio. So for Christmas we all came together to celebrate. This place was perfect! Large enough for 6 people and all the kitchen supplies we would need to cook Christmas dinner. They even had a Christmas tree and a few decorations up. We will be back during the warm weather to enjoy the water, fishing and crabbing. Thanks Phil!

Beautiful area
Perfect get a way on the bay. Boat ramp is beautiful and easily accessible to fishing areas we wanted to explore. Lots of grassy land to play on with a toddler a well as a gravel path for walking. House set up was great for 4 adults and 1 toddler! Many bugs, flies etc but you are next to a cornfield on farm land so it's normal to expect- no bother at all! Would highly recommend and will be back next year!

Open Spaces
We so enjoyed our stay on a working farm right on the water - so much open space! Never saw the owners, think they were house across corn field - lots of privacy. House is cozy and comfortable. Cute back deck and fire pit to just sit and take in the views. We boated to beach peninsula, tubed, kayaked/SUP, crabbed/fished (caught couple crabs for early in season), checked out Point Lookout but it was at capacity and just relaxed. No cute towns nearby but easy drive to Solomons. Packed too much food so didn’t ck out any local restaurants, sure crabs & oysters would be good eating.

Excellent Property and Location
My dog and I were the guests for this trip. After a grinding year + of working nonstop, I wanted to do my annual get away. The accommodations in the house are great. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean, AC worked well, as did the appliances. The kitchen was stocked with what I needed and the details provided by Phil and Stephanie regarding the property, what to do in the area and check-out process were very easy to read. The outdoor scenery is even better. Gorgeous views of the bay with a nice sunset and blood moon the night I was there. You can fish and go kayaking off of their pier too. Would highly recommend to anybody that wants a quiet, picturesque getaway and are interested in water activities. I will bring my family next time. I gave 4 out of 5 stars for cleanliness only because it would have been nice if the garage was swept. I understand it is a country setting and bugs are unavoidable. Inside was definitely clean. Thanks.

We LOVED staying here! If offered all the amenities needed for a fun time with family in a beautiful, comfortable setting. My favorite moments were spent just sitting in the rocker on the back porch and enjoying the view! Will definitely consider renting again for future family get togethers or a romantic getaway with my husband.

We'll be back!
We were there in April and it was a little cold and windy. But the rental was very nice and the view was exquisite! We were baffled by the satellite tv as it kept changing channels on us! lol! It took a couple of times for us to see the pop up asking us if we would like to continue watching the channel. We got a chuckle out of it because we thought we had lost our minds!! You never know at our age what new thing is setting in!! Lol!!

cleanliness
The property was very dirty. I was making dinner for my family, boiling a chicken and the steam from the chicken loosened the grease and it was dripping in my meal. We were not provided with any kitchen towels and only 1 sponge that had been used. During my stay I had to buy kitchen rags, laundry detergent, trash bags and wash clothes. Each room received 2 towels for the week, with no laundry detergent to wash.

Dock on the Bay
Really homey dwelling with dock, including everything you would need to fish, crab, or boat on a protected creek. Bald eagles and herons were everywhere providing a beautiful scene with sunsets even more beautiful. House was clean, and fully equipped for any needs, including spices and normal household equipment for everyday use. Great vacation in a remote atmosphere, which also can be viewed as Covid proof.

About the host

Hosted by Phil or Stephanie Langley

Host profile image
Phil and Stephanie are locals - born and raised in Southern Maryland. Phil is a coast guard approved, licensed charter boat captain who has worked as a commercial waterman. He has spent many years fishing, crabbing and oystering on the Chesapeake Bay. Their appreciation of country living on the Chesapeake watershed has prompted them to extend the Chesapeake Country experience to their fishing clients and others. Captain Phil is eager to share his knowledge - from catching fish to cookin' crabs!

Why they chose this property

When the neighboring farm (Phil's parent's home) became available in 2010, the weekly rental idea stepped closer to reality! This property is a compilation of waterfront, pier, large yard, corn/bean fields, and a comfy - well appointed home - complete with beautiful sunsets and tranquil mornings.

What makes this property unique

It's a wonderful place to experience shore-side, country living - fishing, crabbing, kayaking, sit-n-sip sunset cruises (right next door), or simply enjoying a gorgeous sunset at the pier. Looking for the right spot for your next summer vacation; Fall get-away; that special occasion, or holiday treat? Chesapeake Charm is just the spot! It's just right for a get-away with the girls, a long fishing weekend for the guys, a vacation with the family, a 'new' Thanksgiving tradition or a Christmas retreat - the possibilities are endless.
