About this property

Cozy getaway mins from Michigan Tech, Ski & Snowmobile trails & Lake Superior

Beautiful, 1100sf, remodeled home away from home with over 120ft x 20ft of winter TRAILER parking! Snowmobile trails are only a few short blocks (equal to 1 city block) away and are easily accessible from the house. You can ride your sled to the Hancock/Lake Linden trail. Most often there's snow on the roads. Boasts all the amenities; Central air and heating, 50" TV with Roku, Wifi, bluetooth speaker, comfortable beds and bedding, all new kitchen appliances. Along with the basics, the kitchen includes a microwave, airfryer, blender, hand mixer, toaster oven and electric griddle... everything you need to make a home-cooked meal.
Enjoy coffee from the coffee bar, with a kuerig, traditional coffee pot or French press. An assortment of teas are also provided.
Enter through the back HEATED porch with all you need to store your Winter gear. Plenty of wall hooks, 2 boot dryers/heaters, boot trays and helmet hangers. A perfect place for ski equipment as well. A bonus to be able to put on warm winter gear!
The enclosed front porch is lined with windows, rattan furniture and a ceiling fan....perfect for morning coffee or a cocktail in the warmer months. A sunny day heats it nicely in the winter months.
The two bedooms upstairs have very comfortable mattresses and bedding, luggage racks, dressers and the larger has a closet for hanging clothing. There is a queen murphy bed on the main level in the living area that pulls down for additional sleeping (the same comfortable mattress as the upstairs beds) A pack-n-play is available upon request.
There are 2 full bathrooms, one upstairs with a shower, and one with a tub/shower downstairs. I should mention the water pressure is incredible!! Both bathrooms have shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers for your convenience. Towels, and wash cloths are also provided.
The dining room seats 6 and a high chair is available upon request.
All this and only minutes away from MTU (3.2 miles away), 1.5 miles to Downtown Houghton, 1.4 miles to Downtown Hancock, a few short blocks to Mount Ripley Ski Hill and the Hancock /Lake Linden Snowmobile Trail. Only 46 miles to Copper Harbor, 2.7 miles to the Quincy Mine (a great tour), 11 miles to McClain State Park (Lake Superior beach) and if you're lucky you'll experience the Northern lights from many places just minutes away.
We hope you enjoy your stay! It's our goal to make every stay a memorable one.
All the best,
Jodi & David

Comfortable, convenient and clean!

We came for a quick visit with our son, a Michigan Tech student, and was able to relax together and enjoy a homemade breakfast to give him energy to finish the semester strong! Thank you for the clean, comfortable, and convenient accommodations!

Hancock House

Overall Clean and pleasant environment. The kitchen was so well stocked for people who like to cook and eat in. A very pleasant surprise. As Nordic skiers we would certainly recommend to other skiers.

Good trail access.

Plenty of parking for two trailers. Having two bathrooms is also nice. Add states the house sleeps 6, but there's 3 beds. So, if you have more than 3 staying and don't mind sharing, you're in luck.

Snowmobile Trip

This property was great for our snowmobiling trip. There is ample parking for three trucks and snowmobile trailers. The porch area is heated and was a wonderful spot for all our gear. The kitchen was fully stocked for all our cooking needs and the dining and living rooms were large enough to lounge and play cards. The beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms had plenty of towels, and most importantly, the entire house was spotless. Jodi responded to all our questions promptly and forwarded information that she thought might be helpful before we arrived. This was the perfect place for our group and was cheaper than any of the hotels in the area. We will definitely stay here again for our next Michigan trip.

Outstanding snowmobile weekend

This place was perfectly situated for a 3-man snowmobile weekend out of Houghton. Perfect for parking 27’, 4-place enclosed trailer and less than 3 blocks to access the main trail. Clean, comfortable with perfect amenities for a snowmobile group. Jodi (host) was helpful and responsive. Will stay here again!

Exceptional stay for our family

Our family stayed at this wonderful VRBO for our son’s college graduation and couldn’t have asked for a better place! The location was perfect—quiet, yet close to downtown attractions. The house was beautifully decorated for the holidays and immaculately clean. The remodeled design created a warm, inviting atmosphere. We loved the coffee bar with various brewing options, and the provided tea and hot chocolate were a nice touch. The breezeway entry was great for organizing outdoor gear, and boot warmers were a thoughtful detail. The driveway was well-plowed, making winter travel easy. The Murphy bed was surprisingly comfortable. We especially appreciated the first-floor laundry nook with detergent tabs provided. The host was incredibly responsive and accommodating, making sure everything was perfect. We’ve already booked our next stay and highly recommend this gem of a VRBO for anyone seeking a peaceful, well-equipped home away from home.

Beautifully refurbished home in Hancock

The owners did a great job refurbishing an older home in Hancock. The kitchen was well supplied with all the needed appliances and utensils. There are 2 good sized bedrooms upstairs. This house makes a good base for exploring the Keweenaw. We highly recommend this property

Great central location to do day trips all over the area. We hiked at Porcupine Mts, explored the local mine history and looked for agates at Agate Beach in Copper Harbor. It was so clean and very inviting that I would definitely stay there again.

fantastic place convenient to Mich Tech

we stayed for several days to move our son up to Mich Tech and explored the area. Home was clean and beautifully furnished. Everyone found the beds comfortable, even the Murphy bed - memory foam as listed was very appreciated. We appreciated all the nice little touches, having a few little thoughtful snacks and the detergent pods. We enjoyed sitting in the back enclosed porch. Also enjoyed the coffee selection and I especially appreciated the coffee creamer in the fridge. Location is convenient to Houghton/Hancock yet is quiet. The double wide driveway very easy to park in. We would definitely stay there again!!!

A great place to stay

This house was in excellent condition with nice amenities and perfect for our short weekend trip to the Keweenaw. The house appears to have been recently updated and everything was in excellent condition. The location is great and close to the activities in Houghton / Hancock and the neighborhood was quiet and safe. I could see this being a great place for snowmobilers with helmet holders and lots of clothing hooks in the heated enclosed patio area. 10/10 would stay again.
