Staying ON the LAKE means we are 20' from shore on level ground (no stairs) on the East side of Owasco Lake (for all-day sunshine, gorgeous setting sun & LONGER days). We are pet and kid-friendly, the cottage can accommodate up to 8 sleeping people (with the option to bring 4 more; ask owner), but we DO NOT allow TENTING or RV's on the property.
WELCOME:
I'm Faith, and together with my husband, John, we're happy to support your vacation stay. Our cottage faces the lake which makes it a beautiful, peaceful place to relax, play, and work (we have wifi).
We know our cottage is the perfect get-away (we lived here for 5 years full-time), so we've included EVERYTHING for your comfort EXCEPT your food, firewood, lawn games, beach towels, and life jackets!! Waiting for you on the kitchen island is a pamphlet full of local activities, food, and our favorite must-visit places!
PS We have 2 refrigerators, 2 propane grills, and great-tasting WELL water, so you don't have to bring coolers, tanks, or water bottles. However, you MUST take your garbage home (but have the option to leave it; ask owner)!
YOUR STAY INCLUDES:
Cottage and wrap-around deck with 2 large picnic tables, 2 grills, and a covered porch with a couch and dining table. Use of the dock, community field, kayaks/canoe, lawn furniture, fire pit, and ALICE (utility shed with laundry and an EXTRA full-size refrigerator).
LODGING AMENITIES:
The cottage includes 4 bedrooms (2 Queen, 2 double), 2 full baths, a full sized kitchen with an island, a dining/living room, and an enclosed porch overlooking the lake.
In the cooler months (October and May), a soapstone wood stove makes sitting on the enclosed porch a magnificent place to spend hours, if not days, gazing at the lake and working, reading, playing cards, or chatting with your family/friends.
THE SPACE PROVIDES:
Bath towels, hand towels, kitchen towels (sorry, no beach towels), couch throw blankets, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues, cleaners, bathroom hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, sheets/blankets, and pillows (plastic covered for sanitary purposes).
The kitchen is fully stocked with dinnerware, utensils, serviceware, zip lock baggies, plastic wrap, and tin foil. It also has a full-size refrigerator/freezer, double oven, pancake griddle, spices, a regular coffee pot, and Keurig (bring your own coffee)! Herbal and black tea, a sugar bowl, and a jar of honey are complimentary. Our well water is WONDERFUL and drinkable which means you can eliminate having to haul water bottles!! Doggie poop bags, garbage bags, dish and laundry soap, dryer sheets, full grill propane tanks, and a First aid kit with bandaids are provided.
GUEST ACCESS:
The dock can be used to tie your boat. Launch your boat across the lake at the marine or you MUST contact the owner for the use of the boat hoist (for an additional cost).
BYO:
Lawn games, firewood, water jackets (lifesaving) and beach towels.
TYO:
Please DO NOT LEAVE any garbage on the premises after your stay...Take Your Own GARBAGE Home. 2 large garbage cans have been provided, and plenty of garbage bags for your convenience. You MUSY contact the owner if hauling your garbage home doesn't work for you (for an additional cost).
THE ENVIRONMENT:
The cottage sits on 1/8 of an acre with neighbors on both sides. Our flat parcel has a beautiful backyard with no visible boundary lines (please respect the neighboring parcels from wandering pets, lawn games, and foot traffic).
We are part of a beautiful private community of homeowners who share a huge backfield that's used for overflow parking and recreation (volleyball, kickball, frisbee, walking dog, swing sets).
Quiet hours are 10 pm-6 am. Respect for the lake and private residence is expected.
GETTING AROUND:
There is parking on the cottage's grassy property and directly behind the property in the open field. Bikes are permitted and enough flat road for kids to have fun riding bikes but since the Firelane road is a steep 1/2 a mile up/down it's better for walking than biking.
OTHER THINGS TO DO:
The Cove Road is an amazing 1.5 mile (round trip) moderate walk that's beautiful anytime morning or evening but if you're looking for local hiking trails, Filmore Glen is 5 miles away and boasts some of the most beautiful and non-crowded nature and gorge trails of any state park. I'm an experienced cyclist and hiker and can help support your outdoor adventure if you'd like.
