The house itself is a little on the older side and the cleaning company could do a better job but the location of the house is perfect for short walks to the beach and the pool and hot tub were perfect for our family! Overall it was a great stay with a great host!
Good stay for the family. They had so much fun between the beach, pool and hot tub! Very relaxing. Had a couple of small issues and I reached out to Julie and just like that, the issues were resolved.

Great vacation
The house is comfortable with all the amenities needed for a great outer banks stay. Bonnie is wonderful to work with. The pool and hot tub were a great plus. Short walk to beach and pier. Quiet beaches. 5 bedrooms with plenty of space for all, amazing amount of decks to view ocean and sound. On a quiet cul-de-sac. Staying here is a great idea.
There were 7 of us and we were very comfortable with plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was great for cooking meals and the big dining table was a great place to gather. The pool and hot tub were phenomal features. The outside shower was also great! The beach is a very short walk from the house. Self check in was a bit of a challenge but the host was very attentive and helpful with any issues.
We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend highly!

Close to the beach with a hot tub and a pool… This property is a great find!
Close to the beach with a hot tub and a pool… This property is a great find! If asked for constructive criticism, we would have to say that the couches were uncomfortable and there was not enough couch space for the number of people that would be staying in this house. Other than that, we loved the place!
The home was absolutely wonderful. Communication with the homeowner was great, and it was a very easy check in and check out process. There was plenty of room for everyone, everything needed for a comfortable stay was provided and the house was very clean. The location to the beach was amazing, it was awesome to be able to sit on the decks and hear the waves. Our intention was to be able to have a get away without having to be out in public too much, and we were definitely able to do that. This was my family's first time in Outer Banks and we will definitely be back.
This house has everything you need for vacation. Stocked with supplies (toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, dish soap, dishwasher det etc). There was more than enough dishes, pots/pans, utensils and kitchen gadgets/appliances! New mattresses made for great nights sleep. The master on the upper level stayed cool with dual AC units. New kitchen countertops and floors were a nice upgrade. Lots of fun board games and puzzles for those rainy afternoons or late evenings. The cut through to the beach made it a quick walk. This was our first time this far south and it is quite different than being in Nags Head because it is a much slower and quieter way of life. The house has some minor TLC things to tackle in the off season but no doubt the owners will be on it. They were very easily contacted throughout our vacation and super nice and helpful every step of the way. When the washer machine broke they had a new delivered ASAP.
We had a wonderful time on our vacation. I do have a couple concerns about the house though. Do you ever go to the house and notice the items left behind by previous guests? I am asking because I feel if someone did and listed more on the app as being available for use it would save guest a lot of money. For example, the app showed a picture of an old charcoal grill by the the driveway when there was a nice gas grill there and we did not know it. We purchased a grill to bring with us. Also there was a canopy at the house that was not listed which we also purchased one as well. Hammock, we bought one and several other things. Also there was a personal item I believe belongs to the last people that rented before us. I would like to know if I could get their number or email address.

Disappointed
I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the the house, in fact wonder if it was even cleaned!! Towels were still hanging in the bathroom, the refrigerator had slime and smelled of fish or crabs. The pool furniture was cracked and some were put together with great stuff... The living room furniture was uncomfortable and full of animal hair, thank goodness I brought extra sheets so that I could throw them over the sofa's. While I was aware I was renting a "pet friendly" house, (none of us brought pets)... Lesson learned!! Even on the bottom level by the hose was matted dog hair where someone had shaved their dog. The neighbor is somewhat invasive as he will pop up unexpected all during the week. The house was a good size, the walk to the beach was enjoyable. Love the location. It could use a grill or add an additional grill beside the current. Current grill is small.
We had some difficulty opening the lock box. My husband said sand was an issue in it and I had trouble getting leverage to open it. Lovely home. Spacious. Stayed in a group of 10 including my moody teenage nieces and we could all be separate from each other between the bedrooms, decks, and pool/jacuzzi options or together at the big dining room table. Def would stay again.
Owners were very nice and always responded quickly to all our questions. Bedrooms were smaller then expected but worked for the 13 of us that stayed there. Bathrooms were not the cleanest and a lot of the furniture could of been dusted but that's the cleaning company not the owners. The location was perfect and close to the beach which was perfect for watching the sunrise.
We had a wonderful time. It is a great updated house with a nice view of the ocean from every side. A nice pool and hot tub. We loved the hammocks. A nice grassy area for my fur babies. The beach is a short walking distance. Not too far. I am ready to go back.
Very quiet neighborhood-very close to the beach and the sound. The views were phenomenal…the decks were awesome especially the crows nest! The pool and hot tub were amazing bonuses. The house was spacious, well kept, and we had most cooking necessities. The only issue we had were tiny ants in the kitchen no matter how clean you kept it and with keeping open food in the fridge. (There were ant bait traps but they seemed to just walk past them.) Also when you are outside walking the dog or walking the path to the ocean the mosquitoes will eat everyone up so buy mosquito spray day 1 (nothing Julie can help or do anything about just a warning for those wanting to be outside alot/with little ones/pets) but other than that it was an absolutely amazing trip! Julie I would like to thank you for being such an amazing host and opening your home to us! Would love to rent from you again! =) <3
The house was a great location. Short walk to the beach and very comfortable for our group. The owners were very responsive! We would love to go back again.

About the host
Hosted by Julie Crabtree
We have enjoyed visiting the Outer Banks for the past 15 years. We have stayed far North and far South on the island. When we decided to purchase our own beach house, we knew Rodanthe was where we wanted to be. We hope you fall in love with Rodanthe just like we did.
Why they chose this property
We chose this spot because of the special location. It is in a non-commercial area and never crowded even in the highest season. We love that you can sit on the widows walk and see the ocean and the sound. Almost every room in the house has a water view.
You can easily walk to dinner or to the beach.
What makes this property unique
The neighbors are great. The views are amazing. Easy walk to the beach and lots of space where you can relax, even with a full house, you will NEVER feel crowded. There is a generous grassy back and front yard in which to play. If the ocean's not kid friendly one day, the pool and hot tub are the perfect solution!
