Home sits on small fishing lake with rowboat, and is walking distance from five other lakes with rowboats available. Small beautiful swim beach just a short walk away behind our Green Cabin. Paddleboat, swim mat, tubes. Beautiful views on every side. Weekly hayride and dessert with host in summers. Spacious home includes washer, dryer, free standing wood stove and stocked wood pile, master bath with shower and second bath with tub. Kitchen includes all dishes and dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker. Game room with VHS library.

Set up for light housekeeping. Guests make up own beds with neatly stocked sheets and pillow cases. Blankets and towels also provided and stocked in the closet spaces.

In the area is white water rafting, horseback riding, The Cathedral Pines, The Camp 5 museum (logging industry, train ride), and more. Several furniture pieces are master-handcrafted and built into the home--homemade log bunk bed, bathroom cabinetry, and several other pieces. Home is nonsmoking, no pets.

Wifi has some signal, but just in the kitchen area, for basic Internet, not strong enough to stream. Fire pit, gas grill, porch and sandbox for children available outside.

Nice & Quiet

Very nice setting. The cabin was very accommodating for 6 adults. Plenty of room for meals and just shooting the breeze. The location was very peaceful and offered many walking routes.

Up North

The property is located in the north woods with lakes bordering us in front and back, it is just beautiful. We enjoyed the cow and mule that lived in the corral next to the house. The town of Lakewood is small but enjoyed the small town atmosphere, with its coffee shop and restaurants and bars that were homey.

Beautiful Cabin

My fiance and I rented the cabin for the weekend to do some cross country skiing. The property is beautiful and secluded. This would be a fantastic property to rent during the summer months as well.

Great for ATV'ng!

We stayed here for a week in September 2014 - and, it was just a great time! The cabin is very nicely done - comes complete with everything you will need for your stay. Also, it is nicely furnished and just a very nice and cozy place to spend a week. And, the owners were most accommodating . . . . . meeting us when we got there with a nice bottle of wine! We brought our two ATV's with us. You can ride your ATV's right down the driveway and onto the local ATV approved rural roads. It is about 2 miles from the cabin to the Nicolet National Forest ATV trails - really not that far. We had a great time on the trails. There are several very nice supper clubs in the area. Also, there is a very good grocery store within a few miles. We had a great time and would stay there again!

Fabulous Retreat

This property was outstanding for our family's vacation - a week of exploring Wisconisn's ATV trails. Everything as advertised and more! Very spacious and superbly maintained-made coming back every evening very relaxing! It was like being at home! The property had many amenities to explore from its very own garden, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows, its own lake right out back as well as the friendly cows in the nearby pasture. Definitely a place we would rent again! Thanks Wendy & Steve for your awesome hospitality and sharing your awesome property!

Love this place!

Gorgeous, pristine, private. We have been coming to Camp Lake Resort for 40+ years, but this is the first time we stayed at Pine Haven. Cabin is large enough to have the whole family together. Well kept, and the owners are more than willing to help with any needs. Will definitely come again and again!

An absolutely amazing place to stay!

We spent the week of July 4th at Pine Haven during our annual trip to Lakewood from the Atlanta, GA area. We love coming to the northwoods at this time of year since the weather is refreshingly cool (compared to Atlanta) and this cabin is exactly what we were looking for. The craftsmanship of the home is beautiful and comfortable and there was nothing nicer than sitting on the deck in the morning enjoying our coffee while the loons sang on the three adjacent lakes, the cows roamed the meadows in front of us, etc. In the evenings we enjoyed the firepit and listened to the crickets...it's amazing how quiet and secluded you feel, while being only 10 minutes from the main town. The hosts were also wonderful, this cabin is part of a legendary resort in the area and the meticulous care that they take of the grounds is wonderful. When you stay here you have access to 4+ lakes and each one has rowboats and some have canoes and paddleboats that you can use. Our family also enjoyed the weekly hayride through the expansive 170 acres and although we had other plans and couldn't join them for dessert, we heard from other people that it is not to be missed! There is no better place to stay in the Lakewood/Mountain area!

About the host

This home was built as the dream summer getaway cottage for Dave and Eleanor Swanson. Dave Swanson's father built the resort and it had always been Dave's dream to retire and have a place to come home to one day. He and Eleanor hand-built this gorgeous home and filled the present-day Gingerbread resort with their fun, hard work, and wonderful presence. In 2012 they were no longer able to leave their home in California to come out seasonally. They leave behind a beautiful masterpiece and will be greatly missed. Currently Dave's sister and husband, John and Esther Larson, who live on the resort, and ran the business for several decades, own the home and the home's rental is managed by son Steven Larson and wife Wendy, who are the current managers of Camp Lake Resort
