About this property
Private Guest Retreat 1 Mile from the White House!
This historic hideaway is nestled along a tree-lined residential street, one block from the Convention Center, world-class dining and an 5 min ride or 15 minute walk to the National Mall. Built in 1900, this 1BR/1BA suite with private entrance is located on the ground floor of a Victorian row house backing onto popular Blagden Alley - a tourist destination in itself. With decor that celebrates the local vibe and culture, you will be surrounded by art and style that's uniquely D.C.
This spacious and private one-bedroom apartment features an open floor plan with a full kitchen, counter-height seating, dining area, dedicated workspace, and a living room with Smart TV. Fully appointed kitchen with appliances, including stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. The bedroom is comfortably furnished with fresh crisp new linens, pillows, and bed coverings. Spacious living room includes a comfy full-sized sleeper sofa, laundry area, free high-speed WiFi and keyless access.
The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood, but it is on the basement level of an early 20th century Washington DC rowhouse. A family lives upstairs and you will sometimes hear steps walking above you.
Guests have full access and complete privacy inside the home. Instructions for access, check-in, check-out, and directions to the home are provided in the house manual on vrbo. When checking out, please be sure all windows and doors are locked prior to your departure.
If you have any questions about the property, or if you need any additional information regarding calendar availability, directions, parking, access, or check-in/check-out procedures please contact us directly using the message center on vrbo.

The home backs onto Blagden Alley, historically an alley residential community and now one of the city’s most popular hang-outs for cocktails and coffee, street art and world-class restaurants. When you enter the cobblestone alley, you will find remnants of D.C.’s past – horse stables converted to lofts and offices, buildings from the late 19th and early 20th century, and garage- and wall-murals painted by local DC artists. The La Colombe coffee bar is a great place to work, relax or recharge. Have dinner at The Dabney or Causa – both Michelin star-rated restaurants. Or stop for drinks at the local speakeasy – Never Looked Better (we’ll help you find it!).
Getting around
There are many public transportation options, but we are centrally located so you can easily travel by walking, biking, Uber/Lyft, tour bus, taxi, and more!
–5 min walk to the metro & Convention Center
- 6 min/bike, 8 min/car, and 20 min walk to Smithsonian museums
- DC Circulator bus (only $1); goes to major DC landmarks
-Taxi/Ubers are readily available
- 24 -hour bicycle rentals and scooters in the neighborhood
Parking
Washington DC limits on-street parking for non-residents to 2 hours between 7:00 am and 8:30 pm Monday through Friday and street parking in downtown DC is notoriously challenging. The apartment is 3 blocks from the Metro and walking and ride-share apps are fairly easy ways to get around the city. If you do bring a car, there are commercial parking lots within a few blocks. SpotHero is a good parking app to find available parking.
