Parents' weekend visit

This was the perfect place to stay for parents' weekend. It was a short drive to UVA campus. The beautiful living room and cozy kitchen enabled us to relax and visit in a comfortable environment. We loved the quiet, country setting and particularly enjoyed the view of the Milky Way at night and visiting with the hens during the day.

Originally from Asheville, NC we recently relocated to Charlottesville, VA in 2022 and love the area's mix of rural living with big town amenities. We enjoy gardening and are excited to be the stewards of this historic property for the next generation.

Why they chose this property

Home Tract Cottage is a historic one bedroom home (NRHP, circa 1800) centrally located 15 minutes or less from Charlottesville, UVA, Crozet, Monticello, wineries and more. The cottage features ensuite bath, fully stocked kitchen, living/workspace with comfortable sleeper sofa, mature landscaping for privacy, and covered front porch. Home Tract is a quiet 3-acre property with terraced garden views.

What makes this property unique

Hometract Cottage is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is believed to be one of the oldest structures in Ivy, built around 1800. The cottage may have served as general store for travelers on the historic Three Notch'd Road. Originally a single room on a fieldstone basement, the cottage was expanded last century to include a bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The door is the original reinforced panel door, believed to have been installed to secure the products in the General Store. Most windows are original with the waves and bubbles that characterize century old glass.
