Only 23 miles from Breckenridge, CO.
The space
Large open concept room upstairs with fully equipped kitchen, dining room table, lots of sitting space with 65 in smart TV, and a full game cabinet. BBQ grill on the deck. Family room downstairs with couch and a 2nd TV for watching VHS/DVDs. The spacious primary bedroom has a king size bed & office area, and the other two bedrooms have queen beds, dressers & closets. Charging outlets next to all beds. Deck off the front of the house and cement patio on the south side for great viewing. Outside access to three acres to walk/hike in the aspen and pine trees.
Guest access
Guests can access the entire upstairs and most of the downstairs. Access outside to 3 acres of hiking, and a pond not too far away.
Other things to note
Four-wheel drive is recommended in the winter months only. The long driveway is at the end of a cul-de-sac and looks like an extension of the road. In the winter, the drive is plowed but sometimes wind blows in snow.

Excellent month-long escape

My partner and I had a wonderful month-long stay at Laura and Joe's place. The house was immaculate and spacious with a gorgeous view where we were lucky enough to see moose, deer, coyotes, and a bobcat. The location is close to Fairplay while being sufficiently tucked away and a quick drive to Breckenridge for skiers. Laura and Joe were very responsive and helpful, getting us dug out quickly following a large snow storm! We would love to stay there again.

Beyond Expections

In the past 10 years coming to Fairplay on vacation, this was definitely the best place we stayed at. It has plenty of room and is very comfortable. The property has everything that a family would need. Fantastic views, very clean and lots of privacy. On the first day, we saw a large moose walk right passed the front door as we were having dinner. It was and amazing sight. We had a nice welcome gift when we got there which was unexpected. Great communication and follow-up with the host. This property is great for any occasion. This will be our new go to place whenever we are in Fairplay on vacation which will be next year. Laura, thanks for everything, it was a fantastic stay. See you next year!

About the host

Host profile image
I grew up in Colorado and my husband and I raised our kids in this cozy little mountain town. We acted as the contractors and built this house in 1995. We love the wonderful feeling of this magical place with the incredible views and want to share it with others. We enjoy the feedback we get when people tell us how much they enjoy this home and never want to leave.

Why they chose this property

This area makes it easy to get back to nature, very therapeutic, and tranquil. Doing yoga on the south patio is a favorite of many that visit. Lots of hiking and biking trails nearby. The Mountain Sherman trailhead (Colorado 14er) is a 7 minute drive from our house. Breckenridge is 23 miles away from Fairplay, and the Mount Princeton Hot Springs is an hours drive away.

What makes this property unique

Our property has an amazing view but also has an area where you can go back in the trees, feeling hidden, and just listen and feel nature. There is a pond within walking distance. If you are very quiet and watchful, you will see elk and moose, along with lots of other wildlife.
