About this property

Blueberry Springs on Shuswap Lake.

Idyllic off-grid retreat in a completely private setting by Shuswap Lake. This is the perfect place to quarantine or to socially distance.
Blueberry Springs is a 22 acre property nestled in Albas Provincial Park - over 1,200 acres of Stunning Rain Forest, Majestic Waterfalls, and Beautiful Beaches, set in the heart of British Columbia's Shuswap Lake District and surrounded by the Monashee Mountains. The beautiful spacious cabin offers incredible 180 degree views of the lake and mountains. This is a natural adventure playground for children but also for all ages.
When not swimming at the beach, adults can enjoy boating, fishing, hiking or for something less energetic simply relax on the cabin deck or read a book in a hammock by the stream. Parents appreciate the lack of TV giving children the opportunity to play in the stream and discover nature.
At night, roast marshmallows by a roaring fire. For night sky gazers, the lack of light pollution, gives you an excellent view of the stars and if you are lucky the Northern Lights. If you love peace and quiet, then a holiday at Blueberry Springs is the place for you; sit by the deck fireplace and listen to the hush of the stream.

West Beach is a short 5 minute walk, featuring picturesque covered picnic tables next to the sunny south facing shores of the beach.

The large comfortable living room with vaulted ceiling and enchanting decor is set next to the kitchen. The master bedroom features a cast iron clawfoot bath, alongside a large sofa and has a very comfortable king size bed. The 400 square foot loft has a queen size bed with space for two twin beds. The bathroom has a pedestal sink, ceramic tiled shower & toilet.

Blueberry Springs Cabin sleeps six.

If this cabin is booked for the dates you want please look at our other cabin which is equally private and acres away on the property. It is newly on the site so does not have reviews as yet. "Blueberry Springs on Shuswap Lake "Escape to Nature""

Perfect week of relaxation admiring the breathtaking views!

We had an amazing week at Blueberry Springs! The view is absolutely spectacular and you will never tire of looking at the beautiful snow-capped mountains, the lake and the trees from the comfy living room or from the expansive deck. We also loved the sound of the stream below. The space is very private and you really do feel like you are away from it all which is exactly what we were hoping for. The cabin is very comfortable and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. The main bedroom is so lovely and we had really good sleeps in the king size bed. The loft area has very good beds too, so we all enjoyed some high-quality slumber! There is excellent cell service here and we were busy at the beach so we didn’t miss wifi at all. We had a blast going down to the beach every day, eating meals at the picnic table on the balcony, lounging in the hammock and roasting marshmallows at night. The beach was very small at this time of the year as the lake level was pretty high, but there was still plenty of room for setting up our towels and chairs and getting some long-awaited sunshine! We were prepared for many bugs, but we only ran into a few mosquitoes so some simple Off spray was all we needed. We did decide to drive the few minutes to the beach as we had several floaties, beach chairs, and coolers and the driveway is steep. We also liked going for walks and our dog had so much fun discovering the forest. She even learned how to swim on this trip! Steve and Lesley are very welcoming, friendly and responsive hosts who were reachable the whole time via text for anything we needed. Thank you! I love the beautiful view so much that I have it as a screensaver on my phone so I can continue admiring it. We would love to come again next year!

Amazing Property

This was an amazing property off of the grid with a panoramic view of the surrounding area and lake. It was conveniently located next to the beach, and next to some great hiking trails.

Amazing property for our family getaway

Our family of six plus a dog stayed here for a week for our summer vacation. The drive out is interesting and a bit rough near the end, but doable. The property was perfect. Beautiful place with interesting eclectic decor that we all enjoyed. The beach is close and we enjoyed the walk through a beautiful forest (even the hill up to the property isn’t that bad). We spent 4-6 hours a day at the beach, swimming and playing. We brought our two kayaks and SUP and enjoyed the sparsely populated lake the whole time. The hosts were amazing. Very friendly and helpful. Overall, this was an amazing vacation and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Corner of Heaven

When you have driven 30 kilometres on an unmade road and then start down a stony 3 kilometre track to the cabin, you may begin to think your choice of "remote" was TOO remote. As soon as your genial host Steve has warmly welcomed you to the cabin and you step onto the deck and see the view, you will know you made the right choice. This is a little corner of heaven that looks spectacularly south down the Seymour Arm of Shuswap Lake and across at the snowy tips of the Monashees. The view will take your breath away and looking at it will be your chief occupation during your stay! The cabin is light, airy and comfortable and its huge picture windows bring the exquisite landscape indoors to be enjoyed from every vantage point. Although the cabin is not large, the bedrooms are spacious and the beds extremely comfortable. The beach is just a 5 minute walk away, although if you have children and the accompanying beach paraphernalia, you may prefer to take the car down as the driveway up to the cabin is steep. Nestling in Albas Provincial Park, Blueberry Springs is the ultimate getaway for those seeking the peace and solace of nature. Whatever the weather, the beauty of the lake and the fresh scent of the rainforest will amply repay your effort in getting there.

OFF GRID PARADISE

To be honest, I did not realize that there was no wireless service at this beautifully appointed haven on a hill overlooking Shuswap Lake and several mountain ranges.....I am so used to wireless everywhere I go, I obviously must have read it into existence. After my shock of accepting total disconnect from my business, I was informed that the cell service was excellent and I could access my emails on my phone. Saved the day and the holiday! My friend and I then relaxed into this very special offering in the wilds of middle BC. Lesley and Steve are just the nicest people who couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. The 'cabin' is actually a big house, Cape Cod style with lots of nautical touches...as well as angels. A fun eclectic mix of decor.....that was highlighted by an extraordinary antler chandelier! Comfy beds, quality furnishings and an expansive deck overlooking the land below, with a sweet fireplace for nights under the stars and a private beach just a leisurely 10 minute walk away (rock hounds get excited) where I went swimming in the pristine waters of this truly lovely and remote location....a fabulous find. My friend kept thanking me for finding it! I am intending to go back next summer...so leave some dates for me!!!! Thanks for an intense dive into nature at it's BC best! Challamar

A little bit of heaven!!

Our stay at the Blueberry Springs was just perfect! The Place is just as beautiful as shown in the pictures, maybe even more so! Such a wonderful, cozy, and calm place to stay at, especially as a family! One of the best parts of staying here was the fact we could bring our pets. They had the best time ever. We are just going to have to make a plan to come back. Steve and Leslie are such warm, kind, and caring hosts who attended to our every need and helped us have a lovely stay. Can't thank you enough for helping our daughter fix her tire. The house is fully stocked and has such a lovely feeling of home. I would highly recommend this beautiful home for your next stay. Thanks, Steve and Leslie for making this such a memorable trip. Hope to see you again soon.

A little slice of paradise

This property is the perfect spot to get away from it all! The views from the cabin are fantastic and as you sit on the deck you can hear the stream. It’s a short walk down to a beautiful and very private beach. Steve and Leslie have a real hidden gem, thank you for sharing with us!

Amazing Shuswap Getaway

There were four adults in our party and we loved everything about our stay here. The cabin is well-appointed with comfortable beds, a fully stocked kitchen and an amazing view. The beach is quiet and easily accessible, and the lake is warm and clear. However, the main attraction of this property are the hosts, Steve and Lesley. They are warm, friendly and accommodating, and they are the main reason that we will return here year after year.

Peace and Quiet

Fantastic place to relax and unwind. The cabin is situated in a very private location on the property, with a fantastic view. The beach is a short walk from the property, and is quite private and beautiful. The hosts are respectful of your privacy, but available if you need them. We had a wonderful time, kids were in the lake for hours every day.

A peaceful week with family and friends

Very secluded and peaceful property. Lots to do outside. The trails in Albas Park were great for hiking/running. Caught some nice fish just off the shore as well. Cabin is well appointed and has reliable hot water. Great views!

A little slice of heaven

It was a bit of a trek to get to, but well worth it! Beautiful view from the gorgeous balcony, and only a few minutes' walk to the lake. The owners were very kind, generous and helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Off the grid, idyllic hideaway

A trek to get there (no issue unless you have a low-slung car) but well worth the drive - quaint cottage on a hill overlooking the Shuswap (set aside a few hours every night for stargazing as there is almost no ambient light to impede the views). Short walk to what is essentially a private beach and some of the cleanest, least traversed water on the lake. There are a number of great hikes in the area but our brood didn't make it off the beach. Only issue was mosquitoes were bad this year due to early rains, but throw on some Off and you're fine. Steve and Lesley are fantastic hosts - ready to assist with anything that might pop up. Provisions are a 30 minute drive away so plan ahead - but Celista or Seymour Arm are both worth the drive.

Best 40th Birthday Bash Ever!

A group of friends stayed at Blueberry for my friends 40th Birthday. In total, there were probably around 25 people including kids. The birthday boy and immediate family stayed in the main cabin which worked out perfectly. We also used this cabin as the main cooking area and to enjoy the amazing views at Blueberry. We took all, but one, of the public camping spots right on the beach and a few people brought motorhomes. There is no where to service the motorhomes so they didn't get power, but they were mainly used to sleep in. We spent most of our days down at the beach which is boat access only (unless you stay at Blueberry!) so it is very private. The water was the perfect temperature, our kids basically lived in the lake. We brought a canoe and a paddle board and enjoyed them on the lake. One day we rented a boat in town which was a 20-30min drive away and then just docked it on the beach all day when we weren't using it. We hiked to the local waterfall which was a super easy hike and very beautiful. My 5 year old and 3 year old twins had no problem doing the loop. I think it took about 1.5 hours with stops along the way to see the falls. I didn't notice any mosquitos at this time of year. Steve, the owner is super accommodating and really wants his guests to have the most memorable time. A lot of the people we went up with were into jamming so there were a lot of instruments around. One night it happened to rain, so Steve cleared out part of his massive garage and set up a stage and brought down a generator. This is were we spent most of our evenings! There is a town about 15 min drive away if you need any supplies or ice. If you are looking for something off the beaten path, that is breathtakingly beautiful, quite and relaxing, then this rental is for you!!

Relaxation plus!!

Blueberry is an "off the beaten track paradise". We took our grandkids there for a week and each and everyone of us loved it. The cabin was huge, decorated excellently, and had everything we could need. Our grandkids are water babies and loved the fact that we had our own beach to do what we wanted to when we wanted to. They swam and then could not wait to get back to the cabin and have fun there also. We did not have to worry about the kids and traffic or other visitors intruding our space! Steve was just wonderful, checking up on us at least a couple of times a day to make sure we were not in need of anything, and we appreciate his hospitality and genuine concern for our needs. Hated to leave this most relaxing wonderland and get back to reality. Totally recommend Blueberry Springs for a wonderful family experience!!!

Hidden Paradise

I can't say enough about this property! I went up for a cousins bacherlorette party. It was perfect! The pictures online don't do it justice. When you first arrive there, you just say Wow! and then you keep saying that your whole stay. It's really in the middle of no where. It's peaceful and beautiful. The cabin (that is available now - there are more to come - yay!) is very cute and the decor is so perfectly detailed. There is plenty to do there, you can hike to an awesome waterfall, swim in the lake, pick wild flowers, play in the creek, read in the hammock, sit by the fire, take a bath in the best bathroom ever! Some of us gals even slept in there because it was so welcoming! If you want to get away from the city and just relax, this is the perfect place to go. We are already planning our next trip there! The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner Steve went above and beyond what we could have asked for. He was so helpful! He really made sure that our stay was perfect and we had everything that we needed. I would recommend this property to a friend, relative, or anyone looking for the perfect vacation property! I will be going back with my family and a possible family reunion will be held here once Steve gets his other cabins up and running. To get to this property, it's after a long logging road, so the only advice I would give is to take the logging road super slow cause the logging trucks move very very fast. Other than that, you would not be dissapointed if you were to stay at Blueberry Springs!

Quintessential "Cabin in the Woods"

What can I say!? My family had an absolutely incredible time at Blueberry Springs! The breathtaking beauty, mixed with the real wilderness experience make it a perfect family getaway. We saw an incredible amount of wildlife, big and small. Picked endless amounts of wild strawberries, blueberries and huckleberries. Played in our own private Shuswap cove. Hiked the Albas falls trail a couple of times. Endless amounts of smores eating and hammock swinging truly made it an unforgettable family holiday. My life feels fuller after having experienced a week in this beautiful tucked away paradise. We definitely would love to come back! Steve and Lesley make the most gracious host and hostess. Thank-you so much for your hospitality! Two notes: (1) the true wilderness does not come without bugs... My Off Skintastic was not quite potent enough for those little suckers. Make sure to bring Deep Woods. (2) The upper loft bedroom is accessible via a ladder... which is ok for older kids, but made it a little challenging with my Mr. Independent 2 year old. Need to keep an eye on the little ones just to make sure they have helping hands. Not to mention... the best holiday my dog has ever been on... :)

True Cottage Experience!!

If you are looking to get away from it all, enjoy the outdoors and have your own secluded beach..then Blueberry Springs is the place for you. Spent a week here with my family (4 kids) and couldn't ask for anything better. Cottage was well maintained and clean with a great little loft for the kids. Nice big deck to sit out on and having a fire in the river rock fire place is a perfect way to end the day. With no T.V. available (this is a plus), my kids spent time exploring the creek bed, collecting drift wood, rocks, playing games and reading. I finished 4 books myself that week. The best though is the beach. We spent time here swimming, body surfing, skipping stones and just enjoying being with the family and with no one else around, it was PERFECT! Steve (Owner) was awesome. Helpful, friendly and most of all wants to make sure you enjoy your stay. Plus, he is a dead ringer for Tom Selleck from Magnum P.I. Would highly recommend Blueberry Springs if you really want to get away and just relax. It was more than we expected and we will definitely be back.

4/10 Poor

Disappointing - Only Suitable for 2 People!

We have a lot of experience with VRBO properties and this is a very small cabin and is only suitable for 2 adults and possibly 2 toddlers. For the cost of this property, you should be getting a much larger cabin with more comfortable/clean furnishings. The Beach is not within view, the stereo does not work and the cabin needs cleaning up.

The perfect holiday

Following the owner's helpful advice and settling us in to Blueberry Springs Cabin we had a simply lovely holiday. Enjoying all the comforts of the well equipped cabin and stepping out onto the deck in the morning for breakfast - surveying all the beautiful surrounding countryside - was simply perfect. Strolling down to the lake for a swim and soaking up the sun on the beach reading a book was heaven. Visiting the stunning falls at Celista Creek was breathtaking and well worth the walk. A perfect end to the day was climbing up the ridge enjoying the sunset and a bottle of wine. A truly memorable holiday.

Paradise at Blueberry Springs

We spent a wonderful week at this charming cabin and completely fell in love with it. It's unique location and secluded setting makes it the perfect holiday getaway. The cabin is warm and comfortable and had all we needed for a cabin holiday experience. We explored the surrounding area on foot, including the spectacular waterfalls nearby and the lake shore. The evenings were spent climbing to the top of the ridge and watching the sunset followed by dinner on the deck with a roaring open fire. The highlight for the children was to lie out on the grass at night and watch the stars in a sky completely devoid of any light pollution. Bliss!
