Beautiful and historical off the beaten path stay!

Very comfortable beds, clean, historic and off the grid cabin in the woods. Recommend arriving during daylight hours as it's a little hard to find at night driving down a 10 minute dirt road - there is creek/stream that goes through the driveway with no bridge - it appears you cannot cross it, at least at night, but it was passable - just made us a little nervous. Highly recommend.

Two Chimney Cabin

This cabin is well worth the drive in. It has just about everything you might need during your stay. Really enjoyed the bonfire on the cool October evenings. Screened in porch is where we ate all out meals and where my husband has his morning coffee. Close to many area attractions. We visited many distilleries and Bernheim forest.

Family meet up in KY

Two Chimneys was the perfect location for our family weekend getaway. Although we all grew up Kentucky, the location still made us feel like we were truly in a unique woodland haven. Conveniently located near many bourbon distilleries and having Bernheim in the backyard, there’s plenty locally to do. I will say the gravel road is pretty long so I suggest limit the amount of trips you have to make up and down. We spent our evenings grilling out and enjoying the cabin, which entertained the diverse group of a grandpa and his adult grandchildren and their fur babies that now live all over the US. Thank you for having us!!

Perfect Retreat for the Whole Family!

My husband and I booked this lovely property with our 3 children (ages 6, 8, and almost 10) and my mom in the middle of an otherwise very busy vacation and it was such a perfect retreat! This home had everything we needed to settle in, explore the creek, enjoy slow meals together, and enjoy the peace and quiet. My kids really enjoyed catching crawfish, watching fireflies and bats, and even spotted some skinks (little lizards). Highly recommend!

Excellent Retreat

This cabin is out of town and secluded and just what this girls trip needed. The beds are super comfortable, the house is equipped with everything you need and just a phone call gets you anything that might be missing. Played cards on the porch, relaxed and enjoyed the charm this place has to offer. This country girl is grateful that such a place is being shared and that we got to reconnect and use it as a home base on a terrific vacation. Thank you to the owners and caretakers, We know it takes a team!

Charming cabin in rustic setting

Our family loved Two Chimneys. We were 5 adults - my husband and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom and the "kids" stayed upstairs. Our only regret was that we didn't schedule enough down time in our trip to really get out there and enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. You are away from town but not so far that you can't get to what you need. Some of us golfed at the crossing one day, traveled to Louisville to see the PGA Championship at Valhalla and then were picked up at the front gate by Kentucky Bourbon Boys for a fabulous bus tour of 3 distilleries. There was so much history in this cabin from the original building down to the furnishings. Yet it had all the modern amenities that you would want in any rental. I would definitely recommend for any family or group looking to spend quality time together!

Wonderful Experience

Very secluded retreat in the forest. The cabin was rustic but had all the amenities we needed. Enjoyed sitting on the back deck enjoying the peace and quiet. Used the outdoor fire pit which was a nice feature. The birds kept us entertained. We would stay here again if we return to the area.

Mr

We loved the place, everything was beautiful. This is the first time we stayed in a cabin outside the urban life although not deep in the woods it was nice enough for our first trip. Me and my family spent a wonderful weekend at twin chimneys. The kids loved the surroundings of the cabin we brought our two Jack Russell’s and couldn’t ask for more than the cabin has to offer it’s got everything from linens to dishes and utensils, the puppies couldn’t be happier with the little ckeek that was a plus for everyone… thanks to John everything went smooth and we are definitely going back in the future.

Love This Place

It is a wonderful updated log cabin deep in the countryside on a tree farm. It is peaceful and quiet. We took many long walks crossing back and forth across the stream that runs in front of cabin. It is the kind of place where you want to bring in food and whatever you need so that you won't have to leave for anything. Can't wait to return.

Hello, I'm John, and I want to extend a warm welcome to our cabin, Two Chimneys. This cabin holds a special place in our hearts, as it was lovingly remodeled by my parents, Anne & Hans, back in 2000.

Our family's connection to this place runs deep. Two Chimneys is part of Maplegate Farm, a space that has been a part of our family for generations. My mother, Anne, spent significant time here during World War II. The farm held a comforting embrace during those challenging times. Anne and her brother also started a tree farming operation on Maplegate Farm, a venture that brought them both joy and recognition.

The cabin's name comes from its two chimneys, which have witnessed the passage of time and the stories of our family. There's a rich history here, and we're honored to share it with you.

As you spend time in Two Chimneys, we ask that you treat it with the same care and respect that has been passed down through our family. This cabin isn't just a place to stay; it's a part of our heritage and a reminder of the simple joys in life.

Thank you for considering us for your stay. We're excited to have you here and hope your time at Two Chimneys is filled with tranquility and reflection.

Why they chose this property

You drive up to our cabin over a private dirt road through the picturesque Crooked Creek Valley. The cabin is on 144 acres on private property. You can relax on the front porch and take in the stunning views of the surrounding woods and fields, or take a stroll along the babbling Crooked Creek that runs adjacent to the cabin.

What makes this property unique

Originally built in 1846 as a settler's cabin, the property was lovingly restored and renovated in 2000 while still retaining its rustic charm and character. It features rustic yet comfortable furnishings, including two cozy bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with a fireplace, and a living room with a wood-burning stove fireplace.

For those looking for a more urban experience, Louisville is just a short drive away, offering a range of world-class restaurants, museums, and entertainment options.
Two Chimneys is the perfect place to unwind and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're seeking adventure or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, our cabin offers a unique and unforgettable experience. Book your stay today and discover the beauty of Kentucky's countryside.
