About this property

Blue Bear Cabin | Hot Tub | 3 BR AVL Area | Mountain Views | Gas Fireplace

Nestled on 3 acres of mountainside splendor, Blue Bear Cabin offers peace and tranquility while giving you the feeling of never wanting to leave. Located only 30 minutes from Black Mountain, 45 minutes from Asheville, and just 20 minutes to Lake Lure, you're far enough away from town but close enough to the amenities of fine dining, shopping, and local attractions. Blue Bear Cabin is a wonderful log cabin with features as follows:

Main floor: full hall bath; bedroom with a Queen and full bath and second bedroom with double-sized bed. A modern well-equipped kitchen and a cozy great room with a gas log fireplace, flat-screen television, and a dining area that seats up to six. The second floor offers a third bedroom with a queen, a half bath, and a loft area for reading, and surfing the internet on a wireless network. The loft includes a queen sofa bed. The cabin has an expansive wrap-around deck with a covered roof in the front and rear offering expansive views and plenty of space to picnic, grill, or just kick back and relax as well as a luxury hot tub (photos coming soon)! The finished basement, downstairs, includes a checkers table, a sitting/reading area, a gas fireplace, and a half bath.

Beware, at dusk or dawn when the bluish hue of the Blue Ridge mountains is most intense you may be privileged to see an ambling black bear pass by which may appear to share the same blue hue as the surrounding mountains!

Please note: This house is pet friendly with an additional pet fee. The driveway down to the cabin is NOT suitable for trailers or campers. Satellite Wifi is available at this home, but due to the internet provider and secluded location, you will only be able to check emails and surf the web. We're sorry, but you are limited in your ability to stream movies, and music, or play games through the internet. Cell phone service is not guaranteed. You may check with your service provider to see if the service is available.

During the colder winter months, icy and/or snowy road conditions and delayed snow plow operations are possible within the development. From December through March, please come prepared with AWD or 4WD vehicles. We also highly recommend travel insurance. A hot tub has been added as of September 2022.

Mountain Getaway
My wife and I along with another couple rented the cabin for a weekend getaway. It was a short drive to Black Mountain where we spent the day at the Sourwood Festival. The cabin was great and as advertised. We were very happy with everything during the rental & check-in process. The cabin is extremely clean and very nice. You won't be disappointed.

Perfect get away
This was easy to get to. Close to Asheville and Lake Lure. The highway below the house can be a little busy but other than that it was a quiet place. The view is spectacular from the deck, patio and hot tub!! We brought our dogs and they loved it also. Close to many areas to hike. I would definitely come again. You can easily have 8 people comfortably with not falling all over each other !

Amazing cabin with a fantastic view!!!
Driving up to this cabin is unassumingly adorable from the outside. Once you open the door it’s like the beginning of the wizard of oz… the interior is breath-taking. The beauty of the all-knotty-pine interior… walls, floors & ceiling on every level is absolutely stunning!!! The decor is adorably accented with bears throughout. Enough sleeping room for a large family, with four bedrooms. The view is unsurpassed. The cabin had games we played together and good cable connection. The Wi-Fi was usable, if slow but we went there to unplug and get away from it all… so it was perfect!!!! Thank you to our hosts for sharing their lovely home with us for a few days.

Secluded getaway
We enjoyed this property over Thanksgiving with family. Knowing we were going to have people in and out, we brought extra tables as we noticed there was not a lot of extra room to pull the dining room table out. The property was very clean and had a lot of kitchen supplies available. We had teenage kids with us who used the loft pull-out and one slept on the couch. However when visiting the downstairs we noticed a full bedroom without any furniture. We felt it was a little odd to have a perfect bedroom available and not furnish it for guests vs making them sleep on couches. Our only guess was that they didn’t want extra people staying in the home? An air mattress would have offered much more privacy then the loft or living room couch. Unfortunately the hot tub was not working. We noticed the pumps running when we got there and we’re excited to use it, however it didn’t get hot enough the first night to get in. When we opened it up after breakfast on our first full day we noticed almost half the water was missing which appeared to be leaking from the front of the unit. Since it was Thanksgiving holiday we never were able to get anyone out to look at it which was unfortunate. The property has beautiful views and is centered in between Downtown Black Mountain(20 min) and Chimney Rock (15 min). With three cars in driveway we had to back down the driveway to make it easier to get in and out. It was no problem over Thanksgiving but could be more of an issue with snow due to incline/decline. All in all it was a very nice cabin. We would have loved to have used the hot tub and extra bedroom, but they were not available that weekend.

Hubby and I wanted a getaway in the mountains. This home is a hidden gem!
So perfectly located! Absolutely gorgeous views, especially at sunset! Well stocked, comfortable bed (we only used the master) ! It was hot while we were there and the AC worked great!! Hubby liked the direct tv satellite with DVR…it even worked in the rain 🤣! Communication was outstanding with the management company. Will definitely stay here again!

Really great cabin as very clean and views of sunsets were magnificent. Private and quiet which made our stay nice and peaceful. Dog friendly as well as bear gates on deck also created a closed area so that our pup could roam on the deck and be with us as we enjoyed the outside view.

Wonderful Mountain Retreat!
We were lucky enough to get snowed in at the "Blue Bear" Cabin, and what a treat it was! Wonderful views, relaxed by the fireplaces. The driveway make for excellent sledding too! We just enjoyed the wonderful vibe of the cabin. Our dog "Hemi" also really enjoyed it, because this cabin is dog friendly which is a huge plus!

Beautiful view and dog-friendly
The cabin was amazing. There were just two of us plus our dog so we only ended up using the main level but the cabin was amazing. We braved the cold and sat on the back porch to enjoy the view. It’s a fairly short drive to get supplies. We appreciate the owners allowing dogs. This was our first trip with our dog and we all enjoyed it. This would be a perfect cabin for a family with the space downstairs. We would highly recommend this cabin.

Perfect Black Mountain Getaway
This was a great place to stay. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. The covered back porch was a great place to hang out during the afternoon storms that typically pop up each day (and a perfect spot to see the sun set each day!). The grill worked well and there was even a spare propane tank (just in case). And, on top of that, the property was pet friendly, so our dog was able to be with us. The only improvement I can think of would be some ceiling fans on the back porch and better internet speed (the WiFi signal was great but the actual internet speed fluctuated a lot, but the service appeared to be satellite-based, so probably not much can be done about that). The check-in and check-out processes were super easy. We would recommend this property in a heartbeat and hope to return again.

Peaceful Mountain Retreat and Scenic Getaway
Our family had a wonderful week at Blue Bear Cabin. The house was welcoming and perfectly set up for our two dogs, and spacious enough to sleep us and our three kids each in their own spaces. We imagined using the screened porch more, but found it not too buggy late June, so enjoyed every evening on the big upper deck for dinner, sunset and games. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking, and the beds all comfortable. Since the weather was comfortable, we spent most evenings on the deck, but the main family room with fireplace is also cozy. We never even used the second living area in the basement, though the family did play a few rounds on the Checkers table in the basement. The house was clean and nicely decorated with a fun bear theme -- makes it an extra special getaway! I'm a clean freak, and with two dogs, would have loved better cleaning tools. The old-fashioned broom worked more effectively than the Dirt Devil in the closet :) There is lots to do nearby. Down the mountain one direction is the little town of Black Mountain, and the other direction is Chimney Rock. For families with young kids, this would be a wonderful family-friendly place with tons to do. For our older kids, in addition to the Chimney Rock and falls hikes, there are fun eating/drinking places along the river, and public access to play on the rocks in the Green River (dogs allowed). We also spent a few hours on the Lake Lure beach (public beach does not allow dogs), and one day rented a pontoon boat on the lake, which the family and our dogs all loved, despite our rainy weather that morning. We ventured a little farther for a few hiking and eating spots, and would have ventured even farther for more adventures if our time was longer. We look forward to more the next time! P.S. Greybeard team, thanks for making this so easy; communications check-in/out and directions/patience along the way!
