Just what we needed! I felt like a Queen!
I wanted a place within driving distance from NYC and Boston to get my family together to celebrate my grandson. Not only did Reading Farms provide all the privacy described, it provided me with an environment where my family focused on family with no distractions. We cooked most of the time, hiked and had time to bond with one another in a way we hadn't in many years! I can't tell you how much I would recommend staying at Reading Farms. The staff and private chef were a treat!

More than expected.
We just returned from our stay at Reading Farms Estate after a much needed family vacation post covid. We could not have had a more enjoyable experience. The property is so much more than any of the pictures capture. The property manager who shared my husbands name was a delight and so helpful. Our children were expecting bunk beds from previous reviews but once we arrived they searched all 16 rooms and found none. When we asked Arturo he told us the owners decided to take them all out in order to elevate the property. This was a little disappointing to the children but none of the adults were too upset:) We all highly recommend this property it was so much more than we were expecting. We could have stayed a month to keep exploring everything. Thank you Arturo and team for making our first trip together after covid so memorable!

Gorgeous Estate
The 400 acres include groomed lawns, forests, mowed trails. The rooms are lovely and the building is full of books, antiques and interesting art. Arturo, the caretaker, is immediately accessible and very helpful. Homemade cookies were waiting for us but we were on our own to enjoy the walks, pool, hot tub, and well-equipped kitchen. This turned out to be a perfect setting for our family reunion.

Complete perfection!
This property is highly impressive! From the monogramed towels to the super soft sheets and AMAZING beds. The staff on the property was respectful and attentive to all our needs. We had the chef prepare one of our meals which was the highlight of the trip truly skilled! The area around the estate is full of culture and the town or Woodstock is a perfect New England town. Do yourself a favor and indulge yourself at a very luxurious property. Thank you Reading Farms I hope to return soon!

Beyond Dreamlike!
This is a long overdue review and, to be honest, no amount of fawning will ever be enough for this one of a kind estate. My wife and I held our wedding and next day festivities at Reading Farms Estate and we could not have been any happier. Honestly no pictures are vivid enough to capture the sheer elegance of Reading Farms Estate or its truly private nature. As so many of the reviewers have pointed out, Reading Farms Estate is a portal to another place and time. Old world elegance and charm come to mind but it is so much more. The main house is an art and food lovers dream, housing not only an impressive and what I can only assume generations long collection of thoughtfully curated paintings, sculptures and prints; but also boasts a the single best kitchen of any house I have ever seen. All this and a choice of pool or pond for swimming, a theatre and well equipped gym, a well stocked library and enough room for 20 adults to spread out and enjoy silence. Throughout the entire planning process, Stacy was not only professional, prompt and knowledgeable but also incredibly kind and insightful. He’s knows every inch, nook and cranny of Reading Farms Estate and was the perfect guide to assist us every step of the way. Answering all of our many questions, co-ordinating with our planners and encouraging us to think outside the box and really personalize our wedding. His property manager, Matt, is also a tremendous help and is one of the most true and genuine persons I have ever met. My wife and I are both so happy and thrilled with our stay, our festivities and our wedding at Reading Farms Estate. Stacy and Reading Farms Estate provided us with memories we never thought possible and neither of us can express just how warmly we and our guests were received nor can we ever say enough about this truly special and unique place.

One of a kind vacation!
Our large group of friends and family just left Reading Farms and no one in the group was disappointed . The estate had more than enough room for all of us to spread out and enjoy intimate conversations and then regroup for dinner as a whole. The bedding was A+ and so comfortable most of us slept in for the first time in months. The staff was gracious and so pleasant . The chef prepared an amazing meal upon our arrival and was so worth it. If you are thinking about Vermont do not pass this place up it was truly a one of a kind stay! Thank you all so much we will be back again next winter. -The Monroe group

Exceptional and Impressive!
Well. Based on the website, my expectations were high – – but always guarded-- and my interaction with the owners prior to renting The Farm was probably guarded on their part as well. I now know why. The approach, the property entrance, the care and attention to detail, and the lovely little touches, all added to what I can confidently say was a superlative property and experience for everyone. Our gathering was a family get together of 20 people, spanning many ages. All loved the place and were wowed by the lovely grounds, stewardship by the owners, and surprises around every corner. For example, the ponds were stocked with fish that the little ones loved feeding. The bedrooms were made up with luxury touches all around, and the movie theater had massage chairs. The gazebo had a fun hot tub. And all was overseen with a high degree of care and attention of the owners and caretakers. The rooms and common areas were immaculate. When the grill ran out of propane, a replacement was on site in minutes. (don't miss the bonfire with their Smore's and fun surprises – – not to be missed and you can't duplicate what they do, and their surprises, with a trip to the local grocery store, so go with their package). It's hard to summarize the experience we had, as there is something akin to good karma that pervades The Farm, as described frequently by Stacy. The best evidence of the fun everyone in the family had is that each have asked me when we can go again. And we will. Not to be missed. A bargain for what you get. A carefully curated property evidenced by loving ownership. A beautiful property that will not disappoint, cared for by lovely people who know what to do. Reading Farms Estate is an experience not to be missed
The photos on the website in no way prepare one for the drive up to the grand old manor house. The grounds are immaculate, and the house is so interesting, and comfortable. You need a week to discover all the hidden wonders on the property. Unfortunately, we only had four days, so we will have to go back.

Spectacular! An extraordinary venue for families!
From the beautiful grounds to the classic architecture to the comfy rooms and the no detail left undone--it's so hard to describe. It's truly perfect in every sense of the word. 80th birthday party with family--extraordinary in every way!! Stacy, Matt and Lisa are terrific. We felt like honored guests. We asked a lot of upfront detailed questions to ensure our family celebration would come together. They were always responsive, quick to help and our stay could not have been more perfect! We all agreed we must come back and stay longer....two nights isn't enough!

The best Christmas ever for our extended family of 20
We have just returned from our week at Reading Farms, and the whole family is raving about our Christmas stay. We had expected a skiing vacation, but as the whole Northeast US knows, there was not a flake of snow, and the temps were in the 50's. Not to worry! Our group of 12 adults and kids ages 7-18 were on the go constantly - hiking the superb trails throughout the property, hot tubbing, movie watching in the theatre, lots and lots of board games (supplied by the House), and some intense nearby indoor tennis. Not to mention shopping in Woodstock, of course. The best part, though, was the house and its magical comfort. We fit so many people so easily, we were not crowded together and yet the spaces are large enough for the whole group, and small enough for privacy. The rooms reminded me of our house in Connecticut, with the eclectic art collection, books, rugs, and furnishings. The excellent old Steinway was a huge draw, and our Christmas carols must have echoed over the mountains. The roomy kitchen was constantly in motion with our group chefs preparing breakfast and lunch/ and then we relaxed for delicious and copious dinners created by the house chefs. Stacy was on the job all the time, as were caretaker Matt and his wife Liza, tending to all of our little needs. Wow. Thank you Stacy and Rich. It was amazing.

Reading Farms - Old World Decadence
Your Reading Farm experience starts with the winding gravel road that leads you through the enveloping trees to uncover a throwback to old-world decadence. A place who's allurement leaves you literally speechless from the get go. Greeted by the hosts, you can't help but be charmed, by them and by the estate. This place has to be seen, to be experienced, if it's to be believed. The main house is large yet homely and you find yourself wishing there was more time to experience every little nook. We had in-house chef, Rich, concoct a myriad of delicious family meals for us each evening before we were free to discover a new activity that would see us into the night - popcorn and a movie in the theatre room, a good old fashioned singalong next to the grand piano, a book or board game in the library. The days passed with an ease that mimicked the season we were in. A picnic, Sound of Music style, on the grassy hill that overlooks the property, a day by the Great Gatspy type pool that simply refuses to take a bad picture, or for those of us more adventurous - dodging deer while ATVing along the uncounted trails that surround this incredible farm. If it gets cool, don't worry - there's a hot tub that fits one extra person than you think it does! And when it gets really cool, there's a fireplace and big wine glasses that scream merlot. Nothing gets old at Reading Farm. Nothing gets tired. The only thing you leave wishing there was more of is time itself. I'd like to thank the owners and hosts of this incredible slice of heaven for providing my friends and I with an experience we'll never forget. And I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this to anyone looking for a unique experience that they'll talk about for years and years to come.

Reading Farms Estate is absolutely breathtaking.
From my very first inquiry on this property, Stacy, the owner, promptly replied--and throughout the year he answered every question I emailed to him usually within the hour. That alone told me what a caring person he was of his property and of the guests who were to come stay there.. We had 27 guests join us for a family reunion at Reading Farms Estate. My husband and I had gone by the previous fall to get a feel for the place and immediately loved it. For months I had told everyone joining us how wonderful it was but think they probably thought I was exaggerating. However, the minute they rounded the curve to catch that first glance at the house, they knew if anything I had understated it. We had quite a few young children with us and they used up so much energy playing on the grounds, swimming in the pool and in the pond, using the paddleboat and the canoe, playing soccer and croquet, etc. that when they would finally come inside they would literally collapse on the comfy sofas in the family room content to watch tv or listen to the adults rehashing their day. The kitchen was spectacular to work in even with such a large group, With its 2 dishwashers, 4 refrigerators, and huge gas oven, along with a second regular one no one ever felt they were working on top of each other. The beds were dreamy and we would go to sleep at night to the sounds of bullfrogs chirping in the ponds. Stacy was wonderful to work with. Even at 7 am when we contacted him of a tree that had fallen across the driveway from a bad storm, he had a crew and heavy equipment available within 15 minutes clearing the driveway for us. Chef Rich had a spectacular barbeque for us our last night there which included all the fixings for a barbeque, plus champagne to celebrate our week with and yummy cram puffs to round out the meal. We got some great pictures taken at Reading Farms Estate so we can remember this vacation for a lifetime. But hopefully we will all gather back there again one day. It was truly a magnificent week and I highly recommend this beautiful house and grounds to anyone considering staying there.

Serenity Found!
My friends and I had the opportunity to stay at Reading Farms and we were completely blown away from the moment we drove up the driveway. The location is picture perfect: green mountains, wildlife, and well manicured lawns. The house was very clean and the furnishings were in tune with the New England lifestyle. My bed was very comfy and adjoining bathroom had great amenities. My favorite part of the estate is the tree lined walk down to the Great-Gatsby looking pool. I can't count the number of times I had to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming! Owners were easy to communicate with and made my group feel welcome. I would recommend this rental to my friends and family.

Better the second time around!
This was our second trip to Vermont staying at Reading Farms. We have in the past returned to vacation homes a second year to find them not very well taken care of so it was a huge relief to return here and see all the improvements done to the property, all of the extra king beds were a nice surprise along with the 4.6 mile (per my iPhone) trail system on the property. I would highly recommend this beautiful estate to anyone. We will be back again next year !

This house is amazing, the pictures can't capture it all. Our family stayed here for 3 nights as a get together after our wedding and we couldn't have found a better place. The house is well maintained and the property is very well groomed. Great house for a large family or friend get together. Peter and Julia

PERFECT FAMILY WHITE CHRISTMAS VACATION!!!
Our family spent the week of Christmas here, and it was the perfect choice! We had 7 adults and 9 children with us (many of the children had not seen snow!).The property is spectacular and the home was everything that we envisioned it would be. Everything was immaculate upon our arrival. Anthony took care of all our needs, even going above and beyond as we got stuck in the driveway a few times. He was always there and willing to help. We all enjoyed sleigh riding, sitting by the fire, enjoying Christmas and the wonderful fireworks show! The only things missing were two of our children and their families that could not make the trip. Again, we had a fabulous time, enjoyed the artwork, antiques, the library and it's many interesting books, and all being together for the holidays. Thanks again to Anthony and Roberta (her cookies were delicious!). Enjoyed meeting them and spending some time with them. Would definitely love to come back again! The Roscoe Family

Private, peaceful, paradise
The property is beautiful. Great for large gatherings, plenty of room to spread out. Loved the hot tub by the gazebo and the fish pond! Enjoyed the theater room, especially the massage chairs. The barn setup was great for spreading out as well. Fireworks display was very impressive, thanks. We enjoyed visiting Woodstock, Quechee, Long Trail and Harpoon breweries and King Arthur Flour. We would highly recommend this property. Stacey did a great job and was very accommodating. Thanks for the arrival cookies and wine! Sue & Don

Heavenly Beds!
My family of 32 just stayed at Reading Farms and all of the reviews rave about the beauty of the place but no one speaks of the important things like beds rooms sheets bathrooms. The property is breathtaking first of all but the beds are a dream, my kids slept in the room with the bunk beds and I cringed because if they do not sleep well we all pay for it the next day but the beds were amazing all had feather beds on top of thick mattresses with very soft and clean sheets. When we take our annual family reunion the houses never have enough bowls or plates so we mix and match or buy paper plates, this property had 4 sets of plates with at least 40 of everything which was really nice. One nice thing about the place are the 3 downstairs bedrooms which my elderly mother stayed so she could avoid the stairs. You can be together with all 32 people or you could vanish for hours on this property which is really nice, usually a house that sleeps so many has everyone in 5 bedrooms but not here there were bedrooms everywhere. The house was extremely clean and well maintained and I was looking for something to complain about. I rarely give my 5th star as no place is perfect but so far this place has come the closest so I give my coveted 5th star! Oh and by the way the firework show is amazing!

A Great Family Vacation
We had our eleventh family vacation this year, and it was our first time at Reading Farms Estate. There were 26 of us. Everyone rated this vacation at or near the top in every category. Most of all, we appreciated the unparallelled hands-on attention from the owner. The first day, we were greeted with smiles and lots of chocolate chip cookies. And one night, the chef prepared a fantastic dinner, complete with great appetizers and desserts. On July 4, we were treated to a wonderful fireworks display on site, ending with applause from all in the audience. The grounds were beautiful, and many hours were spent playing in the giant lawn just in front of our large home. As a bonus, we were able to go a short distance to the quaint little towns of Woodstock and Quechee for dining and shopping. All in all, it was a wonderful experience for everyone. Thanks, Stacy and Rich! The Wolf Family

Our stay at Reading Farms was complete BLISS!
The grand entry gate and the long drive way leading up to the home really builds up your anticipation to see the home and property and we were not dissapointed at all! We really loved walking on the property and seeing the breath taking views! Reading Farms is such a beautiful home full of history and intriguing art work. You must check out the library, such an amazing display of classics and a cozy space to relax and read. My husband enjoyed feeding the fish in the pond, and how every morning we had a beautiful waterfall scene out our bedroom window. Dinner by candlelight at the dining room table was glorious, and the view of the pool down the lane is so majestic! Woodstock is just a short drive with the quaintest little cafe's with delicious gourmet food. We visited Simon Pearce in Queechee Vt and loved the glass blowing demonstration, we bought the most beautiful wine glasses. We toured a maple syrup and cheese farm, of course we bought delicious samples to bring home for friends and family! Reading Farms in the fall was glorious with all the fall colors! We have already booked our next visit and we can't wait! We definitely recomend this property and have suggested it to many of our friends! Thank you Rich and Reading Farms for providing your home for our family to make such beautiful memories!
