Great location. Clean. Property was as advertised. However, would not return unless owner replaced master bedroom mattress. The mattress is completely broken down and awoke every morning with a terrible stiff back. Also, there seems to be a black beatle infestation as I killed over a dozen of the little critters in a week. Mostly found in the bathroom and living room area.
Very lovely, very clean, spacious cottage on quiet private road. Gorgeous views of Pemaquid Harbor/Johns Bay. In colder weather the enclosed porch is a great place from which to watch the lobster boats going out and returning and see the variety of birds, especially the "resident" great blue heron. Pemaquid Beach Park and Pemaquid Point Lighthouse are nearby and must sees. Absolutely gorgeous! You must bring your own bed linens and bath towels. We enjoyed our stay here.
Heron Cove was a collection of cute little cottages looking over John’s Bay, which the pictures do not do justice. My 3yo can’t stop talking about the pier and the wildlife. The neighbors were friendly, accommodations a bit dated, but sufficient when you will be spending 90% of your time seeing the amazing surroundings and all Pemaquid area has to offer. The Pemaquid Beach sand is similar to that of Siesta Key… seriously. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you.
Our stay was great. Nice and quiet. Just the way we like it. Didn't realize there wouldn't be to may people up in Maine after labor day. Only problem was , in the bedroom , smelled of urine terribly. To to point, we couldn't sleep there the first night. We bought some urine neutralizes and sprayed the carpet several times. It helped but didn't take the smell away. Would recommend removing the carpet from the place. Left a day earlier then scheduled. But I don't want to underscore, the good relaxfull time we had..we would come back.
The property in reality was better than the photos The seaside location was picturesque with birds feeding, boats passing and amazing Pemaquid sunsets. The mid coast Maine location was perfect for day trips and very walkable to beaches and restaurants. The kitchen was adequate and nicely updated. Loved the enclosed porch to escape mosquitoes and rain. I will definitely book again if my friends don’t get it first!
This place has all the basics and was pet-friendly for our dog. Sitting on the porch with a coffee or cocktail coyld not have been lovelier. Great location near the fort, beaches, and the Contented Sole.

About the host
Hosted by Janice Reid
We're NJ natives but now split our time between Maine and Florida. Of course there's something great about each of these places, which is why we enjoy both! Unfortunately, our business in Florida keeps us there for much of the year, so we allow guests to use our home while we can't.
Why they chose this property
Our family has been coming to the Maine Midcoast region for over 70 years. We found this gem of a property in 1980, and decided to purchase the house pretty much on the spot. In 1989, we completely rebuilt the cabin, and over the years I've made steady improvements so that most of our renters consider it their 'home away from home'. Every time I drive down the lane, the view amazes me, and I remember why we first fell in love with it and why we've stayed all these years.
What makes this property unique
Relaxing, relaxing, relaxing. The views from the front porch. Watching the lobstermen work, the birds fish, the foxes sun, the fish jump, the tide come and go. Lobster and clam dinners fresh from the sea. Reading a book on the waterfront. Access to local trails, boat launches, harbor cruises, antique dealers, arts & crafts, historic sights. Being away from the hustle and bustle of home and work. Did I mention it's relaxing?
