About this property

Light-filled, upper story flat, walking distance to Oregon Shakespeare Festival

(Note: yes, the entire flat is yours. Separate, private entrance from the downstairs flat. No adjoining doors.) The open plan of this flat makes it a perfect place to enjoy time with family—or lots of “me” time! The full kitchen means you can cook to your heart’s delight… or serve up hot, delicious takeout from one of the many excellent nearby restaurants. The Oregon Shakespeare Festival theatres are 3 blocks away—and the plays are outstanding. For groceries, the Ashland Co-op is 1 block from you. Park in back and take the charming path to your front door, or park on B Street and walk right up! Enjoy a warm cup of tea as you look across the Rogue Valley to snow-covered hills in winter, or green hills in spring. Ski at nearby Mt Ashland in winter, or swim in Emigrant Lake, a 20-minute drive away. Saunter up to the Main Street shops, and do not miss Paddington Station, one of the hallmark Ashland shops for tourists, cooks, or jewelry aficionados. Then head to Bloomsbury Books for the latest Jack Reacher novel, and lose yourself in the story over a latte in the upstairs cafe. Ashland has something for everyone!

NB: there is some noise from the Post Office at 5am. Some light sleepers may be disturbed.

Ashland Stay

There is ample upstairs space to accommodate four adults for a minimum 30-day stay, but it is sparsely furnished. The space needs items that would make a more comfortable stay (e.g., glassware). The location is walkable to restaurants and groceries, but it is also close to the post office, which is unloading trucks at 5 a.m. and quite noisy.

About the host

I have been visiting Ashland for over 30 years, as my late sister and her family lived here. My niece is still here--in fact, she lives below this flat! It's such a wonderful place to visit in any season. More often than not, we'd have a white Christmas! And swimming in Emigrant Lake is so refreshing in the winter. It's a charming town and I'd love to share it with you and have you enjoy it, too!

Why they chose this property

Falcon's Rest is in the historic Railroad District, and is an easy place to walk around. In fact, its WalkScore is 91! The charming Ashland Co-Op is one block away... and the Oregon Shakespeare festival is 3 blocks in the opposite direction! There are wonderful shops on E. Main St, and coffee shops abound--although we recommend Noble Coffee Roasting Company above all.

What makes this property unique

Falcon's Rest is an open-plan apartment, so has a roomy feel; the bedrooms can be their own havens, though, and having two full bathrooms is such a luxury. The workable, full kitchen is great for cooking--although the many excellent local restaurants may render that moot! As it is an upstairs flat, you get a gorgeous view across the Rogue Valley to the often snow-capped hills. Falcon's Rest was just finished in the past few years, yet has an elegant, old-world feel.
