About this property

NEW! Historic Casa Capone, Saltwater Pool &Spa, Large Groups, Marigny/French Qtr

The whole group will enjoy easy access to the French Quarter, Marigny, and the best bars, restaurants and activities from this centrally located property. Casa Capone (see below for house history) is a large house with 5 bedrooms that sleeps up to 10 guests comfortably. We have laundry and 4 full bathrooms, as well as a large dining room and exterior dining area for everyone to congregate. Our pool & spa are brand new, salt-water, and the pool can be heated during the cooler months of the year.

The space

Casa Capone was first built as property to let in 1876 by a wealthy family living nearby in the French Quarter. The original home was only the front four rooms (two wide by two deep) and the kitchen structure was in the rear of the lot where the neighbors house currently is. It went through a variety of changes over the decades, but most noteworthy was its use as a auto repair facility in the 1920s and 30s. During this time it was also an undercover storage site for Al Capone's illegal liquor enterprise in the city, which lead to a sting and multiple arrests at the house in 1932, netting $65k in rum and 21 of Capone's men for the authorities.

We purchased the property in 2022 and restored the entire site back to its early 20th century appearance. While there were no bathrooms originally, we have added four of them throughout the house. The space housing the current kitchen and rear bedroom was the original kitchen building which sat at the back of the lot and was built of pieces from a barge arriving down the Mississippi River. Our spaces are filled with period-appropriate antiques, artwork, and lighting as well as comfortable touches like light-filtering drapery, luxurious bedding, and plenty of towels and supplies for your stay.

Out back is a brand new saltwater pool and spa, a BBQ grill, and a patio space with plenty of seats for outdoor dining or a crawfish boil. We supply plenty of pool towels and there's usually some sunscreen in the cabinet as well.

Our property is handicap accessible with ramps leading up to the back door and an ADA standard bathroom, doorways, and bedroom.

We also have two dedicated parking spaces; one is off-street and gated while the other is on-street but can only be used by our guests.

Guest access

Before your arrival to our property I will send over a package with our favorite restaurant and activity recommendations, as well as contact information for our preferred Shrimp Co, who can set you up with a crawfish or shrimp boil, raw bar, and other local favorite foods to try.

Our house does require an in-person check in (and check out) with our property management team. While you will be given access codes, we feel a face to face is best to show you the property, the neighborhood, and answer any questions you may have.

Other things to note

There are two sets of bedding for all beds in the house. The base rates shown on VRBO are for up to 6 guests only. Additional guests are $60/person/night for every night of the reservation, regardless of the number of nights that person stays.

You must enter your guest count correctly as our pricing depends on the number of guests in our home. The city of New Orleans also requires an accurate guest count and because we are a completely legal short term rental, we comply with all local rules and regulations. If you arrive with more guests than shown on your reservation, you will be assessed

Nice spot for family reunion

Our party of six really enjoyed our stay at Casa Capone. Joshua and his house manager Thaiz were quick to answer any questions we had before and during our stay. The home has a great location, walking distance to everything in Marigny and close to the Quarter. It was great to have a grocery store right across the street. Being on a busy thoroughfare, it can be noisy at times, but that's city life, and it did not bother anyone in our party. In the front bedroom, closest to the street, we were provided a white noise device which was appreciated. One of the main reasons we picked this home was for the pool, and we chose to heat it for our stay. So glad we did, as the temps were chilly the whole week. We did have some challenges in each of the four bathrooms getting hot showers. I mentioned this to Joshua after our stay and he did say it is a new hot water heater and he would have his plumber take a look. Prior to our arrival there was just one blip in communication, in that I somehow missed getting Joshua's pre-arrival email a week in advance. I only received it once I messaged him a day before our arrival. And I wish I had the email the week prior, as he had kindly offered the home for an additional night. We would have taken that offer, as we all arrived a day earlier than our rental began, and were in separate hotels. Overall the stay was great, the home is lovely and very well finished - in person is even better than the pictures. We would stay again !

Girls weekend

The house was decorated so beautifully. There was so much to look at and the history of the home is so interesting. We happened to visit on one of the coldest weekends of the year. And the home was built in the 1870’s so it is very drafty. The heat is strong balancing the heat and draft was a challenge but we made it as comfortable as possible. It’s in a great location to everywhere here we wanted to be. We felt very safe In The neighborhood.

Shangri-La

A well laid out place with nice proximity to fun venues in Marigny and the French Quarter. Close to a very nice coffee shop/bookstore as well as nice market across the street for supplies. Comfortable and beautiful antique design adds to the experience.

Perfect Location!

When I first saw this property on vrbo I fell in love with it and knew it would be the perfect home for a fabulous vacation. I was right! Booking this property was seamless. Any questions I sent I immediately received a response from Joshua. The house is exactly the same as the photos but bigger in person. The interior decoration of the house is gorgeous! The colors and patterns in the home are so well thought out and beautiful. The house has a fancy antique vibe but at the same time it has a very welcoming feel. I stayed five nights with my two best friends then five nights with my husband and we all loved the location. We could walk to the French Market, Frenchman Street and all of the French Quarter. There are also two different streetcar lines close by. Baldwin & Co. a great coffee shop a few doors down which we went to almost every morning. Across the street is ROBÉRT FRESH MARKET which is the best grocery store. It has anything and everything you could want. We utilized the grill and had a few meals outside on the patio. The only downfall was that ten nights was not enough time to stay in this fabulous house in one of the best cities! I will definitely book Casa Capone again!

Charming and comfortable

We booked this rental a week out hoping it would be a good fit for two families with kids. It exceeded all expectations. A great blend of historic New Orleans charm and the comforts of home. Beautiful pool and walking distance to everything. Communication from the owner and manager was timely and thorough. Highly recommend!

Great visit

Property was nice but pricey. Pool and spa were excellent. Street was noisy but it was memorial weekend. Neighbors behind the property were unfriendly. They threatened to tow my truck and even had it ticketed for being within 3 feet of their driveway/ garage even though i had zero parking near the place i paid a very large price for a weekend. I even moved it as far ahead as possible but it wasn't enough according to them. Property was well furnished and really nice other then the noise and neighbors.

Incredible attention to detail in prime location

The house was incredible, striking a great balance between antique style with modern comfort! There was great attention to detail including noise machines in the rooms facing the street, and the house was equipped with everything we needed. Joshua and Tyler were extremely responsive, and the location was ideal - very walkable to Frenchman and the French Quarter. We loved our stay!

Fantastic House in the Marigny

Came here for Chewbaccus with a group of friends—house was beautiful and the kitchen was really well stocked for a rental, had everything we needed to cook with. Heated pool and hot tub were perfect since it was freezing during our visit. We all loved this house and the location is perfect for walking to the Quarter. We’re already planning to rent it again when we come back next year.

Great attention to detail and old NOLA style

We live in a very old home and it was nice to stay in a house that had a similar feel. Casa Capone was a beautiful home with amazing attention to detail in both the styling and its functionality. It was very convenient with a supermarket and Starbucks across the street and within walking distance to the French Quarter and other attractive neighborhoods. We spent a lot of time in the heated pool and hot tub as they were both awesome. We highly recommend staying at Casa Capone especially if you have a larger group.

Absolutely Wonderful

We loved it. Bottom line. We had originally crossed Marogny off of our stay list because we thought it was further from the French Quarter than we wanted to be. then we got there & were SO grateful to be near Frenchman instead! That spot is actually THE place to be. Canal is actually awful.... Music pouring out of every spot, delicious food and an outdoor arts market that stays open till midnight! And while we thought the house might be a far walk to the French Quarter, it was actually a super delightful walk when we wanted to shop or visit the area also. And there were so many beautiful shops/eateries/galleries on the way that we would have never seen if we'd not stayed a few blocks away. It was great. If you stay and have the chance to go, The Ruby Slipper has THE best breakfasts. I came home wishing I could just walk down to The Ruby Slipper for breakfast! lol The entire experience was fantastic & as a bonus when we were doing our exit walkthrough we were asked what could be done better, what we liked/didn't care for, all of the questions that so often I wish I were asked! Most bad reviews can just be cleared up early if someone asked what could have been different. We most certainly enjoyed our stay & also there are always little things that could be improved on :) We would have liked the speaker system to be a bit more user friendly & they were like "great! on it!" It was fantastic, that's it! *****

Why they chose this property

Immediately downriver from the French Quarter, the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood was developed as the city's second suburb in 1806. Known for its authentic New Orleans atmosphere, the area offers an array of live music bars and restaurants. All within walking distance of this home are lively Frenchmen Street, a brand new Robèrts Market, Starbucks, Hotel Peter & Paul, the Elysian Bar, the Ruby Slipper, St Roch Food Hall, and so much more! Bourbon bars and craziness are about a 10 to 15 minute walk due west.
