Maison Azul - Historic Merida, French Colonial Mansion with Old World Romance

Maison Azul is located in the historic district of Merida. We are walking distance to almost everything. Restaurants, festivals, shops and museums are just blocks away. Our property was newly renovated in 2012 and was carefully designed to retain the charm of a past era while adding the conveniences of modern living. The main house boasts 17 foot ceilings, antique pasta tiles, 13 foot arches and gorgeous crystal chandeliers throughout. The grand salon has restored 100 year old fresco painting on the walls framed by gorgeous arches overlooking the pool and gardens. 3 of the bedrooms are in the main house and the 4th room is in the casita on the opposite side of the pool. The casita consists of a bedroom with an extra large bathroom featuring a sunken shower that overlooks the gardens and/or the pool. It also has a private outdoor shower. The pool, courtyard and covered patios are nestled in the center of the property with gardens and the casita toward the rear of the property. Wild parrots stop by the large trees surrounding our property for a little bit of the tropics in the middle of the city. Our garden includes orange trees, banana trees, an avocado tree, green and yellow coco palms, as well as a royal palm. The large pool was designed to combine the look of a european fountain with the natural turquoise waters of a cenote. It is the perfect place to relax after a busy day sightseeing. For the culinary lover in your group, the kitchen has a stainless steel professional stove with plancha or griddle. The kitchen has 3 large windows that overlook the pool, the gardens and the inner courtyard so the cook never feels left out of the activities in the house. With three fountains scattered throughout the property, the atmosphere is set for a romantic and relaxing retreat. The house includes a/cs in all 4 bedrooms and can sleep 8 - 10 people on 4 king beds and one futon. Ceiling fans in every room combined with the 17 feet ceilings keep the living areas surprisingly cool. The house also includes wifi, cable, a flat screen TV, DVD player.The rate price quoted per night is a base rate for 4 people and there is an additional $10 per person charge per night for each person over that. This extra person charge covers utilities, basic breakfast supplies and other added costs from larger groups.
