We wanted to get away for the long weekend to relax and recharge. It is a beautiful location in the woods and close to a state forest. It was wonderful waking up in the morning to a view of the private lake. The wood burning stove was perfect for the chilly fall nights
Property was lovely, house was perfect siize for our family of six. The weather wasn't great for the first few days, but finally got to enjoy the outdoors on the last day. Would book again.
Very clean, well thought out home with views of the lake. Added bonus are the two kayaks. A great getaway for peace and quiet. Thank you for your quick response the other day. Hope to stay with you again soon.
Hidden Lake is a great place for a group of friends to hang out but also have space! Kevin thought of everything to make our stay comfortable including a well stocked kitchen. A great added bonus was the use of the kayak! A beautiful, quiet location. Thank you! We will be back!
We had a very relaxing and quiet three days at the Hidden Lake house. Although there are other houses on the pretty lake, they are well-screened by trees and distances. We only heard one or two voices while we were there, and enjoyed the many bird calls (bring your Merlin app). Largemouth bass fishing was fantastic from the dock using artificial worms (we caught more than 30 nice-sized fish). The house is about 10 minutes from Sherburne and 20 minutes from Hamilton, for groceries and restaurants. We enjoyed grilling on the deck with a sunst-view of the lake. Kevin was a great host and was easy to contact with any questions!
The location is within easy driving distance for all our kids and grandkids that still live in the CNY area. We live in Florida and this was truly a hidden gem! Every age group enjoyed fishing (and actually catching - A LOT) from the dock or boat, while I kayaked with the grandkids or just enjoyed the peace and quiet out on the lake. Thank you for allowing dogs, our boy is family too and he loved the attention from the kids! Cabin is well stocked for all your needs and kitchen had everything you need to even bake muffins with blueberries picked locally nearby. Yum! The general consensus from the entire family is that we need to do this next year, too. 😁 Kevin was always always very responsive to any questions and I appreciate that! Thanks so much for providing a lovely house and setting for us to enjoy! We will be back again!
This is the place to be if you want quiet. There is a neighbor fairly close who happened to have visitors so we heard them a couple of times, but nothing beyond some lively conversation. Most of the time, we heard nothing but ourselves.
Cabin was very clean and communication was fantastic.
Our dog found a mouse in the house on the first night, but let's face it, you're in the middle of the woods. There were no signs that this is a common occurrence. It just happened while we were there. No big deal. As soon as I contacted the host, it was handled quickly and efficiently, and our week moved forward with no other issues.
There was a nice raft provided for rowing around the lake. There are kayaks that we didn't take out because of the raft, but they are available.
The grill worked just fine and there is plenty of firewood provided for the pit.
Understand that there really is not much around if you are looking for tourist attractions. We found a grocery store about 15 minutes away in Sherburne along with a pizza place and some great ice cream at Gilligan's Island. Bigger town about 30 minutes away is Norwich.
We found some great waterfalls in the area, which is something we enjoy doing. You will have to drive to find these things, but we had lots of fun within 30 - 45 minutes away. Also, a great visit to Wolf Mountain Nature Center only 3 miles away. Take the time to do this if you can.
Beware of George Crumb Road. If your navigation sends you there, find the other route - haha. We have an interesting story to tell, but it is definitely not the way to go.
The stay here was quiet and great!
We has a wonderful stay. The house is located in the woods on a private lake. There are some great amenities such as a raft and kayaks. There are also some decent size bass in the lake that I caught from the dock. I would highly recommend.
This house is such a gem!
Very comfortable with plenty of space and comfort.
The Garden is so great to hang out, we spend a lot of time on the incredible dock, fishing, kayaking, having a drink, watching the stars... The house deck is also great and we were there all the time enjoying the views, having meals, reading, etc.
The house feels very modern, we loved the big glass windows in the living room.
We were so impressed with the natural beauty all around us, so many farms around... we visited Hamilton, went to the bookstore there, got ice cream, walked around.
Great stay overall. The perfect spot for a family vacation.
Thank you so much!
It is a beautiful house, right on a lake full of fish, we enjoyed very little cell service, fishing, in the evening, we'd cook a wonderful meal, and enjoy either each others company and conversation or we played games, we didn't watch alot of television, but it was there and in just about every room. Our dog is a duck retriever and totally enjoyed her swims in the lake with fake numbers to train. I would love to be there for a snowstorm and not leave for another week. Enjoyed. Rob and Lisa. My husband and I wanted to get away from it all, and when we saw this property we immediately knew that's the one. Secluded, private, quiet, that's just what we needed.
The property looks even better than on the photos, there is a lot of space, comfy beds, loads of spices in the kitchen, pots and everything you might need for your stay and the wine rack was a really pleasant surprise! :) We grilled every day and stayed out on the porch or by the lake till late - do bring a bug spray though, the beasts don't joke around! :) Plenty of board games too, books...
We really enjoyed our stay and being able to bring our dog along was just perfect. And writing this review from the apartment in Boston, listening to all the noise outside, we really cannot wait to come back some day! :) Thank you for everything!
This is a nice place to stay at if you want to get some peace and quiet. Fishing at the lake is awesome and the house is very clean. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves lakes.
The place is a little out of the way from society, but it's so serene! Everything was clean, every amenity stocked, and there is a lot more room than the listing makes it seem like. Kevin is very communicative and replies quickly to texts. Overall a very enjoyable experience would definitely rent again!
