Our Stay at Stone Bear Sanctuary

We absolutely loved our stay at Stone Bear Sanctuary. It’s perfect to get away from the city and enjoy time in nature. Feeding the birds was so much fun, watching the different animals coexist on the property is definitely something you aren’t able to see everyday. The house was clean, check in was incredibly simple, and we definitely want to try and come back. If you’re from the city/suburban life (not used to a more rural style), I would definitely suggest doing your food shopping/planning meals before coming. The stores and restaurants in the area aren’t anything like the city. Overall, an absolutely amazing experience!

Bear with us!

Very cozy log cabinesques house on the mountain side….we enjoyed watching the local wildlife and playing pool in the pool room….the gym downstairs was well equipped for your needs and the neighborhood was as quiet as a church mouse. The host was there for check in to explain how to work some of the appliances et al ….overall would definitely book again.

Wonderful experience!

Our stay was amazing! The home is beautiful and the grounds are stunning. The visits throughout the day from the bears were so much fun to experience. From morning coffees on the front deck, cooking our meals in a well stocked kitchen, playing a game on the pool table, and ending the evening in the relaxing hot tub, we couldn’t have asked for more. Donita is a super cohost. She was very welcoming and informative. Getting a call from Robert the owner, prior to our stay, was lovely. We truly look forward to returning to the Stone Bear Sanctuary this Fall. Do not hesitate to book your stay here. You will not be disappointed!

Amazing Time at an Amazing Place

We enjoyed every minute of our stay! From the personal calls from Robert and the Welcome Letter ahead of our stay, we were excited for our getaway! Our stay started with an on-site meeting with the property managers to walk us through the property and give us insight into the wildlife we were about to see. But we never could’ve imagined just how great everything would be! The house was beautiful and welcoming and the property was so peaceful…but the daily visits from the beautiful black bears, the foxes, the birds, the deer, etc made it the most amazing getaway for us both to absolutely enjoy! Thank you Robert for opening up your beautiful home for us to experience! We will definitely recommend your property to everyone we know and definitely plan on returning as well!

A true animal sanctuary

When Robert told us we were likely to see black bears, little did we know how close they would come to the house! Yet, we felt completely safe as the bears (adults, young ones who just left their moms, moms and their cubs) munched on the bird food in feeders around the house after Robert explained to us that black bears are afraid of humans and stay away from us as long as we don’t bother them. We had many other cool animal encounters on the property such as foxes, herons, birds, salamanders and fireflies. We also had fun feeding the koi fish in the pond. The house is wonderfully designed and feels both luxurious and cozy. We enjoyed dining on the balcony, exercising in the expansive gym, hiking the property’s nature trails, playing pool and finishing the day in the hot tub. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend Stone Bear Sanctuary to nature and animal lovers!

Relaxing retreat on amazing property

We had a truly wonderful 5 night stay here with our 3 young kids. The house is spacious and full of thoughtful touches. We had plenty of things to do between the pool table, huge tv and cozy couch, and hot tub. The kids even got some piano practice in. My husband grilled every night, it was very convenient to the kitchen. The bed and bedding in the master was so comfortable I even wrote down the brands to buy for us. Feeding and watching all the birds was a blast! We had fun exploring the surrounding property but look forward to coming back to stay when it’s warmer so we can go further into the forest. The views can’t be beat, it provides such a relaxing connection to nature. The owner and property manager were both so lovely to deal with- excellent communication. The visit was everything we wanted it to be. Looking forward to another stay here in the future!
