About this property

Cross Hill Getaway - Log Cabin & Glamping Retreat

This beautiful 18-acre property in the Catskills features a rustic mid century log cabin and off-grid glamping site. Come to fish, hunt or just enjoy the fresh country air. Cozy up around the wood burning stove at night, relax in the ample dining and living spaces, lofted sleeping area, country kitchen and bell tent. Perfect for that weekend getaway. Conveniently located minutes from downtown Cobleskill, Howe Caverns and Mallet Pond State Forest.

The property features Cross Hill Cabin, a mid-century log cabin and a glamping site with a large canvas bell tent, outdoor kitchen, bath and shower. We invite you to explore the property during each season. In the spring and summer there are cool mountain breezes, bullfrogs by the pond, birds and wildlife abound. Fall features apple picking from the orchard and classic New England foliage. Winter offers it's own experience with white winter landscapes and warm nights around the fire.

Cross Hill Cabin is custom cut, shaped and hewn-by-hand. Its builder was an avid collector, musician and lover of the outdoors. Over the years it has served as a family retreat and hunting lodge. Much of the cabin's original look and character has been preserved and it is a testament to country living and a respite from the modern world.

The cabin is in the country side, but that doesn't mean you can't stay connected. It has high-speed Wi-Fi and an entertainment system for streaming all your favorite movies and shows. It is heated by propane and a wood burning stove and keeps a moderate temperature year round. We will provide the firewood. There is no AC but we provide fans and nature provides the cool evening breezes.

There is a full bath, an open living room and dining area and a classic country kitchen with antique Roper stove. It is fully stocked with plates, cups, bowls, flatware, cooking utensils, spices and basic staples like salt, sugar, coffee and tea for your comfort and enjoyment.

After a hearty dinner, spend an evening on the covered porch overlooking the pond at sunset. Smoke a pipe in the gazebo, have a cup of tea, or that well deserved glass of wine. Enjoy the mountains, then light up the fire pit and roast some marshmallows or snuggle up around the wood stove with some hot chocolate. When the day is done, retreat to your cozy sleeping loft with enough space to sleep 5 or head to the sleeping quarters on the first floor with a single bed. For more than 6 guests, there is a convertible queen-size futon and air mattresses available upon request.

If you want to spend time connecting with nature again, then the glamping site and bell tent lower down on the property is perfect for this. Feel what it was like to be an old-fashoned explorer, but with modern touches and conveniences. Enjoy the outdoors in style and comfort. The canvas tent features two twin beds, one full-size bed, ample bedouine style seating and a high 20 foot ceiling. We provide clean linens, down comforters and towels. There is a wood burning stove for warmth (we provide firewood) and solar generators for charging your devices, lights, fans and a small 12 volt RV camping fridge.

A short distance away from the tent, tucked away in the woods, you will find a quaint outdoor kitchen, bath and shower area. Here you can enjoy a home cooked meal and a hot outdoor shower. There is a small compost toilet for your convenience. We provide a propane camp stove, dishes, utensils and cookwear. There is also a high quality cooler which is very efficient and in our experience only needs one small bag of ice to keep food and drinks cool for 2 days.

Make a fresh cup of coffee and then take a morning plunge in the cold spring fed pond. In the evenings enjoy a camp fire and complimentary wine. Play some music and games, converse with old and new friends. Fall asleep under the stars.

For even more outdoor adventures make sure to check out Howe Caverns and Mallet Pond State Forest nearby. In addition, Windham Mountain with world-class skiing is about 40 minutes away, and Oneonta is about an hour drive.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions about the layout and features of the property. We hope you can come and share this piece of land and the outdoors with us.

Thank you and see you soon!

Cross Hill Cabin

The cabin and location were great. The cabin is very clean has everything anyone would need to have a memorable stay. There are lots of memorabilia from times gone by, and they are arranged throughout the cabin with an artistic flair. Great place to relax and to enjoy the grounds that surround the cabin. We will be back.

Wonderful house with lots of antique stuff. Love it!

Beautiful property that offers a unique experience of staying in a log house. The fire stove provided more than enough warmth to the entire house. The additional propane heater is also there in case we did not want to keep the fire stove going all the time. Shower cubicle is really small for a guy like me (I am 6 feet 2 inches tall), but I was still able to manage take showers.
