"A Great Escape" it truly is!! This amazing four-bedroom oceanfront duplex is located on the quiet shores of North Topsail Beach. Sleeping up to 10 people, this home is ideal for medium sized families or groups of friends. Just imagine sitting on the back deck listening to the ocean and having the convenience of walking to the beach on your semi-private beach access, shared only with the other side of the duplex. “A Great Escape” is a duplex with a mirror property next door “Almost Heaven”. Together they can sleep 18!!!

CANCELLATIONS -
Any cancellation of a confirmed reservation must be made in writing by Guest. Reservation payments are not reimbursable unless the property can be re-rented for the same rate and time period less non refundable reservation fee, cancellation fee, and third-party fees. CHECK IN DAY DETAILS -
Your rental home allows you to check-in directly at the property. Check-in typically becomes available BETWEEN 4:00 - 6:00 PM on the day of your scheduled arrival. As soon as your rental is ready for check in, we will send you a text message with all of your check-in instructions. Please understand that all homes must be cleaned and inspected before we are allowed to issue access details and you are not allowed to be at the property until you have received that text message.

PREPARING FOR YOUR VACATION -
All our vacation rentals include fully equipped kitchens, basic small appliances (microwaves, coffee makers, toasters), pillows, comforters/bedspreads, television(s) and more! Our vacation homes do not supply consumable items for guest use (i.e. toilet paper, paper towels, soap, spices, cleaning products, etc.). Please plan accordingly for any items you may need during your stay.

You are welcome to bring your own linens, or we provide a linens rental service for your convenience. Some homes provide complimentary linens for select dates and this detailed information can be found in the description. Linen package options include BRONZE (bed sheets only per bed listed), SILVER (bed sheets per bed listed, a bath towel set per occupancy, dish towel, and a bath mat per shower/tub), and GOLD (all items from the SILVER package plus one extra bath towel per occupancy).


TOPSAIL ISLAND GENERAL INFO-
WiFi: WiFi signal strength is NOT guaranteed at your rental for remote work or remote learning. We are located on a barrier island and do not have cellular towers on the island. This, coupled with the increase of guests in our area, creates an inconsistent cellular signal that is outside of our control and therefore, compensation is NOT given.

Beach Nourishment: Beach nourishment projects help preserve and protect Topsail Island’s shoreline. Most projects are scheduled annually between November and April and may involve large pipes on the beach, trucks moving sand, and other equipment to rebuild and maintain our dunes. Timelines and locations can shift without notice, and we are not always informed in advance. While we understand this may impact your beach experience, refunds or compensation will not be provided for disruptions related to beach nourishment. For the latest updates, we recommend checking the town websites for Topsail Beach, Surf City, or North Topsail Beach. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about potential beach impacts during your stay.

Water Pressure Notice: Please be aware that during popular rental dates, especially in the mornings and evenings, there may be temporary reductions in water pressure. This is a common occurrence across the island as many visitors are getting ready for the day or returning from the beach. We recommend planning showers and other water-related activities accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

Public Parking: The Town of Surf City enforces “Pay to Park” from March 1-Oct 31 from 9:00 am - 6:00 pm in the Surf City Public Beach Access Parking Lots and other marked Public Parking Lots. The Town of North Topsail Beach will enforce “Pay to Park” from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM year-round. Onslow County operates three public parking areas/beach accesses within the Town of North Topsail Beach. To the best of our knowledge the county intends to continue operating these lots free of charge.

Leave No Trace: Topsail Island enforces a "Leave No Trace" policy in order to protect our shoreline, meaning you must remove all items, including tents and chairs, from the beach each day. Any items left behind are subject to theft, removal by the town, or possibility of being washed away by the ocean.

Turtle Nesting Season: From May to October, Topsail Island is a nesting ground for sea turtles. Be mindful of marked nests, limit oceanside deck lights, and follow local guidelines to protect them.

Great Stay

We enjoyed our long weekend at the house. The house was well maintained and had the equipment needed (coffee pot, kitchen utensils, etc). We loved that the beach was just off the walkway attached to the deck. We would definitely stay again!

Pitiful condition!

I know this property is no longer listed on VRBO, and that’s good. It’s in need of significant repairs, updates and replacements. This is a “pet friendly” rental with carpet!! The smell of old urine is disgusting and we couldn’t let my grandson crawl on the floors at all, even the tile floors in the kitchen, living room and bathrooms is cracked and crumbling in many areas. This 4 bedroom house sleeps 10, but only has 7 forks available to eat with. I’ve never been so disappointed with a VRBO rental in my life, and I’ve rented dozens of times through the years.

The house was run down and needs items repaired. Door lock is rusted and we had trouble getting in. Both sliding doors are locked with boards in the gutter and the downstairs door can be opened. Rain comes in under doors. Pots in cabinet were greasy and dirty. Nails are lifting on the deck. Outside water on deck handle is rusted and broken. Bathroom drains take a long time to empty. Under kitchen sink smelled terrible and had to be cleaned. Refrigerator smelled bad. The location is great and the beach was very nice. This is an old house that just needs some tender loving care. Old is one thing, but unsafe is not acceptable.

My get away

We were very happy with the property we had plenty of room.I’m glad there was only eight of us and not 10, because they wouldn’t have gotten a bedroom!! Needs some updating or fixes but all in all very enjoyable!! Would revisit this property!!

Property needs some attention

Excellent location. Great house for large groups. But desperately in need of better upkeep. Peeling paint and trash under deck and overall run down condition of property were disappointing. Minimally equipped. (example: no broom or mop- how can you not have a broom at a beach house?) it was adequate - just not special.

The great escape

The house was nice, we hadn't realized it was a split house, meaning it was two separate rentals in one, (one on one side and one on the other). There was only one thing that was that was negative about the experience, we killed two cockroaches while we were there in the house, they were the only two that we had seen. Maybe they are more common in the area there or something, other than that it was a great location, great house and great experience. I would definitely do it again. The house was clean so I'm assuming the cockroaches are more common in that area so I'm not giving it a negative review for that.

Location was great. Amenities not good.

The location of the home was excellent, however the state of the property was less than ideal. The microwave was broken and the burners on the stove only worked half the time. There was hair in the master bathroom tub. Which also smelled like body odor. All shower heads were filled with mold and had no water pressure what so ever. Vent in upstairs bathroom leaking water and also molded. The sliding door out to get deck hardly functions. The deck is severely weathered and has splinters everywhere. Balusters were missing from the deck railing and were later found laying on he floor with rusted nails sticking out. We spent over $2000 to stay in that house for the week and were definitely not satisfied with the home. It needs some serious TLC.

Location was perfect! House was just OK. OVERPRICED

We stayed for 3 days, the weather and the beach were perfect. The house was overpriced for the quality. There was broken patio furniture, nails popping up on the deck, and an outlet cover missing in the dining area (not very good when you have a 1 year old running around). The location was perfect. Hopefully the owner will put a little money into the rental to make it safer and more inviting. I will absolutely return to North Topsail, but will not rent this specific property again.

Enjoyed our stay

We found this property on VRBO but rented it through Access Realty. It was a pleasure to work with Access Realty from booking to check in. They were always helpful, friendly and quick to respond to an email or telephone call. The owner was great to work with too, but we did it through Access. The property was as described, no surprises. It was clean and everything worked but the ice maker and it may have been cut off for the winter. The rooms are small but we had 7 adults and had plenty of room for a 4 day stay. There is a nice concrete drive way and parking area. We felt that it was the smallest amount of steps to get into a property and also down to the beach. It is on the main road through North Topsail but in November there was very little traffic. The kitchen furnishings are minimal but adequate..we had a traditional turkey dinner with no problem. The carpets are new and the property very neat. We would certainly consider it again and we will certainly check with Access for availability on properties to fit our needs.

Girls Weekend at

I recently stayed in "A great escape" and was highly disappointed in our stay. I had planned for a great girls weekend for my friends and found that the unit was very unclean (dishes were dirty, carpet was stained everywhere) as well as NO AC was functional on the first floor. Although I do commend the realty staff for bringing fans and a portable AC unit our first night, I am disappointed that I had to call numerous times on Saturday to see if the maintenance worker had come to service our unit. It wasn't until I had made the last call (around 3pm) when I found out our AC needed a new part and was not going to be fixed during our stay. I am upset that during my beach day on Saturday, I had to call numerous times and was not kept updated by the staff. My friends that were sleeping in the bedroom on the first floor, in 80 degree temperatures (even with the fans running) did not have an enjoyable stay and I find this unacceptable. The unit did not provide any toilet paper, no hand soap, no salt or pepper. Dish detergent was provided, but the dish washer did not work well at all and we found ourselves hand washing the dishes we used. The carpets are VERY stained and should be replaced. The walls are dirty and need a new coat of paint. The one positive is the location. It is beach front and super easy/short walk down the walkway to the beach. There is an outdoor shower to wash the sand off - which is a plus. I am rating this unit as "poor" based on the AC not working on the first floor (temp remained 81 all weekend), the carpets are extremely stained/dirty, walls are dirty, dishwasher does not work. This unit has potential, but it needs work!
