About this property

Mountain-side Cabin with hot tub! Close To Town And Skiing on 1.1 acres.

Nestled into the mountainside on just over one acre, Fawn Ridge is a perfect spot for a weekend or extended get-away. Our intimate 440 square foot cabin has the comforts of a home on a smaller scale. The separate bedroom with a queen bed and living room twin sofa-sleeper make it a cozy retreat for up to three guests. The sofa shares the living room with a wood-burning fireplace, perfect for cold winter nights. You can retreat to the bedroom to watch TV in bed.

Our miniature kitchen is fully loaded – a gas stove, microwave and fridge make it easy to shop and cook meals in. Step outside and throw some meat on the grill and enjoy the mountain view while eating on the wrap-around deck. Our mini dishwasher makes clean-up a snap!

Whether you want to ease into the day or wind down at the end of the night, the hot tub is a great place to relax and enjoy the mountains around you. You are likely to see wildlife while you take in the views – elk, deer and even wild horses have visited our cabin. The stars light up the sky and full-moon nights are spectacular.

Take a small hike behind the cabin and arrive at our private gazebo with a view of Capitan. Sit and enjoy morning coffee or have a picnic while taking in the amazing view.

When you are ready to get out and about, you are less than five miles from midtown Ruidoso. There are tons of local shops and restaurants you can visit as you stroll through town.

If you’d like a little more adventure, try your luck at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack and Casino. If you prefer an adrenaline rush, you can’t miss the 8,900 ft. zip line at Ski Apache! It is one of the longest in the world and has parallel cables so you and your guest can conquer it at the same time. Or rent an ATV in midtown and follow the GPS trail on a 4-hour tour that takes you up into the mountains and down into canyons with beautiful rock formations. Of course you can’t miss Ski Apache in the winter with a stunning 12,000 ft. elevation and 1,900 ft. vertical drop. From beginner to expert, there are trails for everyone on 750 skiable acres. If you prefer to experience the great outdoors at a slower mph, you can golf, fish, hike, mountain bike, geocache, or play disc golf.

Love to day trip? Visit the iris garden at Hondo Iris Farm during the summer months or pan for gold at Fox Cave. Just past Alamogordo is White Sands Monument – 275 square miles of gypsum sand dunes that look like sugar spilled in the middle of the desert. It’s an amazing site to see. On the way back, stop at PistachioLand where you can shop and take a picture next to a giant pistachio! You can visit Roswell and see all of the famed UFO exhibits in town and then head to Carlsbad. Although the caverns are a 2.5 hour trip from Ruidoso, they are a stunning natural wonder that shouldn’t be missed.
You can plan your trip around an event or festival – Ruidoso has them all year! Check out the show schedule at the Spencer Theatre for the Performing Arts. If you love Broadway shows or dance and musical performances, they have events every 11 days during the summer and winter show season.

We can’t wait to have you visit Ruidoso and stay at Fawn Ridge!

Excellent cabin for getaway

This was exactly what my husband and I needed to spend our 22nd anniversary. It’s quite beautiful and very easy to get too. The cabin is small but it feels so at home. I did cook for us there, the kitchen is small but fully equipped with all you may need. The hot tub was the best part really took advantage of that! Only thing is there is a tv in the bedroom could definitely use one in the living room. But other than that our stay was PERFECT. Totally recommend this cabin!

Perfect cozy cabin for a mountain getaway

We had an absolutely great time at this cabin. The 2 amenities we wanted most was a real fireplace (not a gas or electric insert) and a hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed both! The owner had plenty of firewood for us to use and we kept a fire going pretty much the entire stay. The only issue we had, which was very minor, was some intermittent connection issues with the WiFi, but that was no problem at all because the point of our stay was to unplug from life and enjoy Ruidoso.5/5 Stars, Will absolutely be staying here again in the future!!

Getting up

Getting to cabin is a bit steep, if there was snow or ice, a 2 wheel drive would have a bit of trouble getting up. The matress needs to be replaced, to soft. Everthing else is good

Great place to stay!

This was a great place to stay and get a break from life for a bit. The property is in a very quiet secluded neighborhood, great for observing the local wildlife. Everything about the cabin and property was just as expected from the listing.

Cozy, Comfy & Well Equipped

We enjoyed our stay at this cozy cabin! It was perfect for a couple and had all the necessities. We saw lots of wildlife - deer, wild horses and hummingbirds. The neighborhood was close to town but still far enough away to enjoy nature. The overlook was an added bonus.

Weekend getaway

All the pictures are accurate in describing this little cabin. I did misinterpret the location thinking it was isolated, it is not. With that being said we barely noticed any neighbors. The positives- we loved the outside view and hot tub! Lots of wildlife on our 1st day. The inside was perfect for 2 people. Cons- there is really no storage for luggage. The little closet is cramped. The bed was very uncomfortable, everyone has their own preference, but it was too soft and we did not sleep well. The bed is to big for the room making it cramped. No tv in the living room, we didn't mind. The kitchen table only had 1 chair so no eating together. You can tell the cabin is older and needs more updating. Unfortunately because its older you can tell that there may be mold which I had an terrible reaction to causing us to leave early. I have been to Ruidoso many times and never had a bad reaction to altitude so I know it wasn't that completely. With a good scrubbing, replacing some of the paneling, maybe a different bed this place could be a perfect little get away cabin. Unfortunately due to our personal experience I cant say that we would be back.

Amazing place!!!

My husband and i loved being here. It was perfect for the two of us. Loved the view and it was close to both lakes. Alto and Grindstone as well. Hot tub worked great, and the gazebo was a short hike however the view was worth it. It had everything we needed for our stay. We loved it and it was perfect!

The perfect mountain getaway!

This property offered everything I was looking for. The cabin was in a central location, but tucked above the road for added privacy. This cute little house had everything we needed for our 3-day stay. The hot tub was a fabulous bonus! My favorite thing was the private little hiking trail that led up to a deck with a spectacular view of the mountains; the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee. I would highly recommend this property and I will plan to stay there again!

A cute little Getaway

Peaceful, Quiet, Clean, and over all Cozy. A perfect little cabin for couples to getaway and be one with nature. The Hike up to the patio was a little steep but the beautiful view was well worth the journey. Hot tub was amazing, the deer were lovely, made a friend with the neighbors friendly cat. All n' All just what we needed. 10 out of 10 would Definitely recommend.

Quaint Oasis

Fawn Ridge was the perfect weekend getaway for my husband and I. We LOVED watching the deer from the hot tub and just taking in the breathtaking view from the pergola. Breathing in mountain air and hearing the sounds of nature as we reconnected was the best feeling. This little cabin was perfect for the two of us, and the wood burning stove was the cherry on top. We will be back!

We bought Fawn Ridge Cabin in 2013. We love Ruidoso and ended up falling in love with the cabin. It has been remodeled and is super cute. We live in Liberty Hill, Texas and travel to Ruidoso every chance we get!

Why they chose this property

We wanted a cabin that wasn't in town and wasn't a condo. Every time we rented in Ruidoso, it seemed that is what we ended up with (in our price range). When we first looked at the cabin, we fell in love. We can't live here full time, so we thought we would rent it and let others enjoy it's beauty as well.

What makes this property unique

The cabin is on 1.1 acres and has Pine trees surrounding it. We walked to the top of the property and found the beautiful view of the Sierra Blanca mountain range. As we were enjoy the beauty, the wind was blowing and the fresh pine was just amazing.
