VRBO is a scam
We rented this 2 bdrm apartment in downtown Leamington for 2 weeks while we went to Point Pelee with a ton of dedicated birders. 3 different groups of friends stayed with us at various points during our stay.
We arrived May 5th, to discover the apartment was missing 1 of 2 advertised bathrooms, as well as a dishwasher. The bathroom was dirty. The faucet fell off the kitchen sink when it was touched.
The owner did not offer any explanation other than to explain that there was neither a 2nd washroom, or a dishwasher. As if it was fine to falsely advertise these amenities.
We didn't raise a stink because we didn't want to find ourselves without any accommodation during Spring Migration at Pelee!
On the day before we were scheduled to leave, we came home in the afternoon to find a man standing at our open apartment door, changing the locks. He informed us that the building owner was being evicted. He called some lawyer who said we could stay overnight. Ummmm, nope. We didn't need anymore trouble, and we came home early.
The owner is not surprisingly refusing to answer our request for a refund. After several hours on the phone with Vrbo, yesterday AND today, I was told finally that a "Specialist" would phone me.
The owner did not give us a refund for any of the issues with this place, and we werent compensated in any way by VRBO either.
