About the host
Hosted by John Dzubay

My father, "Grandpa Dan", a second-generation immigrant from the Tatra Mountains of Slovakia, was drawn to the mountains of Western North Carolina during the 1980's, and built this cabin oasis from local timber in 1996. As the story goes, the cabin was built with help from family, friends, and one local professional carpenter. Grandpa Dan loved the sunshine and especially enjoyed making colorful stained glass art for the sun to light up. When Grandpa Dan died in 2018, my husband, John, and I were able to keep the cabin and its surrounding acreage with the goal of sharing it with others and preserving its natural beauty for generations to come.
