Perfect spot along the Kanawha River to relax

We found the home to be extremely comfortable and well equipped. The host was informative and friendly to work with. We had minimal need for communication and we didn’t have to wait long for a response. If you need a spacious place to rest while visiting family/friends that offers a calming experience then you have found it. The only tiny issue we had was parking in the back yard the first time we got there. The issues with the parking was we couldn’t identify the house from the back and we also had trouble finding it from the main road. Once we got it figured out we made sure to use the porch light to guide us after being out on adventures. Keep in mind we arrived after dark in late November so that made a lot of things challenging on our trip. Having this house to rest was a major bright spot. The bathrooms are clean and comfortable. The bedrooms are clean and generous in size. You won’t feel like you are cramped if there are 2-4 people in your group. A few more lamps in the living room and Kleenex on hand are the only items that I would recommend for the host. Note: there is no dishwasher but we found that washing up after meals kept this from being a hassle. We brought our own Firestick or Roku so we had easy access to our streaming platforms. Otherwise you need to have your passwords and logins ready. Cellular service in the house was limited but we used the WiFi to make things work. I highly recommend this property and host. Loved this property.

2.5 to 3.0 stars

PROS: Host is responsive, easily accessible by phone call, text messages, email. House is neat, simply decorated. Beds are comfortable. Small town surrounded by wooded hills. House sits across the street on Kanawha River. CONS: These are the things our family didn't like but you as a guest may not find objectionable House sits on town's main road with traffic whizzing by at high speed. Vibration and noise from 18-wheelers and construction trucks woke us up, kept us awake at night. At night, rats (not mice) left urine and feces on one of our beds and on the kitchen counter on a closed bag and a closed container of food. There was no food in the bedrooms so not sure what rats were doing in a bedroom on a bed. We didn't use the kitchen at all because of the rat urine and feces. There's no driveway or parking space on the property. Host allows parking in the backyard, but pulling a large SUV in and out of the backyard from and to a narrow alley leading to the backyard is challenging. Note: 2nd floor shower dispenses colder water the farther you turn it from the off position. Hotter water is dispensed closer to the off position. Property is about a 40 minutes drive from Ace Adventures. The curvy mountainous road leading to and from the property has sharp curves, the base of the hill above the road seems to be eroding/slipping.
