About this property

We built this Santa Fe style home in 2010 with a design aimed at blending into the surrounding environment, and with energy efficiency in mind. It is a two-level 2200 square foot passive solar home with an open floor plan. The lower level opens into a great room, large kitchen, master suite and second bedroom. The upper level has the entertainment room, plus bed and bath in a loft-type setting. It opens onto a large deck which features a view up and down the Arkansas River Valley and the 14,000+ foot mountains of the Collegiate Peaks Range. Picture windows abound throughout the home. There is 180' of private Arkansas River frontage behind the house, neighbors are few and far between, and though only 3/4 mile from the activities of Main St. the setting in the Pinon/Juniper forest is tranquil and secluded. It is about 1/2 mile upriver of the Buena Vista Whitewater park. A hot tub set above the river in the forest makes for a splendid 'retreat within a retreat'!

Comfy and spacious

Plenty of room for all. The huge kitchen was a real treat for preparing our New Year's Eve feast. Pete missed his New Year's day football while the girls were off xc skiing. He missed the "bring your own streaming devices and cables" but he survived. The hottub was great and enjoyed by all.

A Perfect VRBO Experience

The house is so nice. The design is incredible. It stays so warm and cozy in the winter. The views in every direction are breathtaking. Three minute drive from downtown Buena Vista, Arkansas river flowing in the backyard, 15 minutes from hot springs, and a house with perfect vibes. I can’t put a price on the memories I made here with my family in the short time we were there and we hope to get the chance to stay again one day. The Wi-Fi is awesome and the entertainment room is perfect for movies with family.

Fantastic place for family gathering

The cabin was really warm and cozy, and had a lot nice features including full kitchen to cook meals, views of the mountains, not to mention the hot tub that overlooks the river. Highly recommend!!

On the river-

Very nice property with good privacy just north of Buena Vista. Clean, comfortable, south western style property with hot tub and path to the river. Will return with the rest of my family to enjoy the town, fishing and rafting-

Fishing Getaway

We loved being right on the Arkansas River with excellent fishing spots. The kitchen was very large with tons of workspace. Enjoyed using the hot tub with a fantastic view.

Perfect Location

The house is cute and comfortable with all needed amenities. Out the back door is a trail to the creek where trout are plentiful. The garden area is great for down time while watching all of the hummingbirds and chipmunks. Town is a couple minutes away. Definately make time to enjoy the sunrise on the mountains while relaxing on the deck.

Wonderful view In Buena Vista.

The views from this home are stunning. The home is spacious and inviting, six of us had more than enough room to enjoy. The walk to the river was just a short fun hike down and the sound lulled us to sleep at night as we gazed at the stars. I would definitely go back.

Great time with family and friends

My wife and 10 month old stayed with 2 friends for a couple of nights. We had a blast. There was a winter storm and we were warm inside. The place is clean and comfortable and worked out well with our child. Highly recommend. The river access and hot tub were a huge bonus! Plus can't beat how close to town this location is and private.

Amazing!!!!!

We had an amazing time. This was the perfect getaway, where we were able to enjoy the beautiful views with great family and friends. We will be booking this place again. It is a great balance of getting away from it all yet, still being in close proximity of town.

Amazing place!

This place is a gem within Buena Vista. The house itself is clean and spacious with great views in all directions and a large deck on the second floor. The property has its own river front and there is a small play wave right there. I was able to kayak there and then also continue down the river to the play park. After kayaking, the hot tub out back was great to relax and warm up in. Overall, if you're thinking about visiting Buena Vista, I don't think you could find a nicer place.

Absolutely Loved It!!!

This home was absolutely beautiful! and just secluded enough but close to town for activities. Also the Colorado river was right in their backyard and the views were stunning!! The sounds of the water was so relaxing. Also loved the extra space and amenities of the house. Would definitely come back and stay longer next time as we didn’t want to leave!!

Owner was very friendly and helpful! Town and the sites were exactly what we were looking for. Inside was very spacious for a large group to stay. There was nowhere outside to hang out which is what we came to do. River behind it was beautifil but nowhere again to sit and hang out. There was nowhere to unpack or hang up our things when we arrived and it was moderately cleaned.

Great place, amazing views!

Definitely a treasure on the Arkansas River!

A beautiful piece of property! We loved having coffee in the mornings down by the river and then spent every evening in the hot tub enjoying family time with our two teenage boys. The house was roomy and super comfortable and had everything we needed! We would love to come again sometime just to utilize this great spot!!

Awesome location and views!

We loved seeing views of the collegiate peaks from this peaceful setting, and the string lights lit up at night in the outdoor area were a sweet touch. The home feels rural and somewhat hidden, but is close to town and is just a short bike ride to the main street full of good food and shops to explore, and the historical museum was fun too. The location was great for hiking in the region, and the direct river access was awesome. The hot tub overlooking the river below was fantastic. The huge kitchen was a bonus for our group as we cooked several meals there (I might add a gas grill outdoors but we definitely found everything we needed inside). The furnishings are cozy, homey and somewhat eclectic. We enjoyed seeing the photos of our hosts on the river. We have stayed in other VRBO homes that had closets/dressers for guest use, so that was probably the only thing we would add to our wish list... and like another reviewer said, maybe add some more hooks for hanging robes etc. (we did use the bar with hangers in the rear entry after hot-tubbing and for a few nicer garments, but maybe something in the bedrooms or bathrooms would be another nice addition). Our host was great with communications and helpfully answered any questions we had. We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay at this property.

Great weekend getaway

My husband and I spent a weekend here with our two friends and their kids. The house is gorgeous and very open, plenty of space (especially in the kitchen). The hot tub was FANTASTIC. The location is great being less than a 5 minute drive from downtown. Would definitely stay here again! Thank you Craig!

Lovely home

We really enjoyed our stay in the solar home in Buena Vista. The home has a very large kitchen which is wonderful for sharing time cooking and eating together. We enjoyed the backyard hot tub overlooking the Arkansas. My only suggestion would be to have hooks in the laundry room with extra towels/robes for the hot tub. Thank you.
