Guest access
You will have access to the entire property, except for one locked owners' closet.
Other things to note:
4WD/ AWD vehicles with snow tires required in winter (Oct- May). There can be a lot of snow up high in the mountains! Please note this when renting any vehicles. We do not provide tow service and I want to make sure you have a stress-free vacation.

The road is paved until you get to our neighborhood, the Placer Valley - at this point the road turns to gravel (3.5 miles to the cabin). As you head up the west side of the valley, the road gets bumpy (when there's not snow smoothing out the bumps) - drive slowly and enjoy the views!

There is no cell phone service at the cabin. Most people are able to text and use Wi-Fi calling via our super fast Starlink Internet. We also provide a landline.

Please note that the cabin is not “childproof.” Guests accept this risk and understand that they are responsible for the safety of their children. For example, there are no fireplace guards around the wood stove or gas fireplaces and the stairs have open risers.

The cabin is located at 11,100' feet in elevation. Some people experience altitude sickness at high elevation. Talk to your doctor beforehand (medication is available to help with altitude), drink lots of water before and during your visit, and take it easy while you acclimate.

Beautiful location!

We can’t say enough about this beautiful log cabin .. our stay was perfect in every way. The view was spectacular and the kitchen had everything we needed and more. Our two grandchildren absolutely loved playing outside and the game room was well stocked with games. The location was tranquil and peaceful. Kim was very responsive and an excellent host. If we get another opportunity we definitely will be back.

One of the most precious properties on the planet

I spent over a week at the high country haven, and a haven it was indeed. This is one of the most beautifully built and impeccably maintained places I've ever been. Kim was absolutely wonderful in her communication and helping guide me through the whole process of checking in and out and where to go in the area for the things I needed. I spent weeks looking for the perfect place to spend my time in Colorado and this was it. I cannot recommend this location more highly. It was everything I wanted and needed.

About the host

Host profile image
Hello!

My love for travel and adventure means I love hosting guests in some of my favorite parts of Colorado.

My husband and I enjoy traveling with our 2 young kids and showing them the natural wonders of our country. We can be found splashing in creeks, hiking, skiing, digging for fossils, panning for gold, learning about the history of new places, building forts, and driving down random dirt roads just to see what there is to see.

Why they chose this property

Our cabin is in the Placer Valley - a stunning valley only 15 miles south of Breckenridge that surrounded by towering 14,000' mountains. The Middle Fork of the South Platte river, a Gold Medal trout fishing river, runs through the valley. We chose this area for it's unparalleled beauty, views, and access to skiing and outdoor recreation. We love it and hope you will, too!

What makes this property unique

High Country Haven is a true Rocky Mountain retreat. It checks all the boxes: dramatic views, hot tub, game room, close to outdoor recreation, and a true log cabin.

On 4 acres surrounded by pines, it is private and on a dead end street - it is not in one of those cookie-cutter developments where are the houses are wedged in together. There are dramatic views of 14,000' mountains from the porches and many of the cabin's windows. The cabin is both cozy and luxurious and has all the comforts of home.

We'd love to welcome you to our cabin.
