Lengthy comfortable stay at a price we could afford

We are in our mid 60s, we wanted comfotable, clean accommodation, at a acceptable price for a 25 night stay ( and in an safe area accessible to NOLA tourist spots). This accommodation fitted exactly what we wanted, you have the 11, 27 and 91 buses and 12 street car to take you where you need to go. The apartment is clean, very well equiped and very comfortable. Communication with the owner was excellent. Had a great holiday from start to finish

Fabulous place for a new Orleans getaway

This is a charming, tastefully furnished rear apartment with high ceilings and heart pine floors in a 19th century camelback cottage. It also has a little private patio with table and chairs. The location is just a couple blocks off Magazine Street, close enough for convenience but far enough away that it is quiet. It is central enough that it is easy to get to Audubon Park in one direction and the CBD and French Quarter in the other. Yancey is a thoughtful host, and this was a delightful choice for a monthlong getaway.

Best Possible Choice

A nice, comfortable and fully functional apartment at the heart of everything. A block from Magazine Street where the things are always humming. It reminds me of a more livable and charming New York. The owner, Yancey, is wonderful, welcoming, accommodating and has the utmost respect for your privacy. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone looking to have a carefree, fantastic time in NOLA.

Perfect nest for long- and short-term

I stayed in Yancey’s apartment for my first few months in New Orleans before moving to a more permanent spot. I cannot emphasize how lucky I was to find it. It has all the beautiful homely touches of an old New Orleans house that someone’s made their home. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom and shower were great. The living room is large and cozy with high ceilings. The kitchen had everything I needed. Granted, I was only one person living in the space, but it was as good as any space I could have found for 3 months. I’m very thankful to Yancey for sharing her home with me. She was very communicative and helpful, especially when we had to stick through a hurricane just a couple weeks into being here. I always felt private, that the space was mine in a way. I miss it very much even though I’m happy with where I ended up long-term. The location cannot be beat; it’s truly in the heart of Magazine and the Lower Garden.

Life in the Garden District

My wife and I lived in New Orleans for a few years while attending school, although that was in the early-mid '70s. We had returned briefly on a couple of occasions ten years ago, and decided to make an extended visit this past Spring. We located Yancey's property on-line, and were intrigued by the description, photos and location. Based on those, it appeared to be an ideal place from which to enjoy the unique beauty and ambience of the city. We were not disappointed. Yancey has a lovely home in the Garden District; the unit itself is located at the rear of the house, with a bricked walkway, private entrance and patio area secluded from the street. Hardwood flooring runs throughout the kitchen, utility area, living room and bedroom, with a modern, tiled floor in the large bathroom; classic high ceilings with fans. The rooms are spacious and the kitchen is fully appointed with everything needed (complimentary starter coffee and wine a thoughtful addition). We stayed two months and, during that time, did not lack for any necessary pot, pan, dish or utensil. Similarly, a generous quantity of paper products, towels, linens, bath soap, laundry detergent, etc. was provided. The apartment is airy, bright and nicely decorated; the furnishings are comfortable. As important as everything else, the unit is clean. Though the apartment is located as part of her house, Yancey assures a sense of privacy and solitude for her guests. She is a great host: helpful with suggestions, and informative regarding stores, restaurants, pop-up entertainment (an impromptu neighborhood piano concert), and other matters. We completely enjoyed our stay.

Prime location just off trendy Magazine Street

The property was perfect for my one-month stay in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. It's super quiet yet only blocks away from the parades on St. Charles. It became my cozy home for one month.

Great Spot

Yancey's place was great. Location is incredible if you want to be a little bit out of the quarter. Great restaurants and breakfast spots right in the neighborhood. Place itself was very spacious and had everything that was needed. Yancey was very accessible to answer any questions.

Absolutely the best!

Beautiful, cozy apartment, equipped with everything and more for a 10 week Internship in NOLA. Comfortable bed, safe and quiet neighborhood, roomie, clean, great kitchen with supplies and appliances, TV's, welcoming living area as well as the convenient washer and dryer right there in the apartment. Full bathroom and plenty of space for your stuff/clothes. You'll feel right at home. You cannot beat the value and location. Yancey, the landlord, was fabulous and was immediately available to answer questions and address any issues. She was an excellent communicator -open and very helpful. Felt totally comfortable and extremely fortunate to have found this rental. Don't look any further. This is it.

Outstanding accommodation

This property undoubtedly lives up to its fantastic reputation. The place was clean, quaint and is in the best location in New Orleans. The owners were friendly, respectful and very responsible and it was a pleasure renting from them. We highly recommend this property as it was a major contributor to the wonderful two months we spent in New Orleans!

The perfect New Orleans accommodation!

We highly recommend this place! We stayed for 2 months and would easily come back to this rental in the future. The owners are friendly, accommodating and responsible. The place itself is clean, fully furnished and is in the best location in New Orleans, which gave us a stunningly beautiful Garden District living experience. Thank you to the owners who made our trip such an enjoyable one!

perfect new orleans apartment

Everything about this rental is great. The apartment is very nice with plenty of space and everything you need to feel comfortable. The owners are extremely nice and helpful but still give you your own space. Having a washer/dryer in the apartment was especially convenient. Beyond the apartment itself, the location is excellent with shops, restaurants and lots of great places to walk and bike all around. Its as safe as it gets in New Orleans and the property owners provide a book with lots of info on the area and keep you in the loop when it comes to safety in the area. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to friends and family.

Garden District Hidden Treasure

We spent a month in this lovely apartment within an historic home in the Garden District. It is exactly as it appears in the VRBO ad and was very clean and well maintained. The owners are quite friendly and helpful and responded immediately to any questions. The location is perfect for sightseeing in New Orleans. It is one block off Magazine Street with lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping, and a few short blocks to St. Charles Avenue and the streetcar. We rarely used our car as the streetcar and buses are very convenient. We highly recommend the WWII Museum, easily accessible by streetcar. On Magazine Street, there are two fabulous gelato places, La Divina Gelateria and Sucre. Also there is a CC's Coffee Shop and A Broken Egg for great breakfasts. There is too much shopping and too many restaurants within walking distance to list here. Fabulous location and beautiful apartment!

Just like home...

I was in town for family business, and needed a comfortable, convenient location. This is a charming apartment, very similar to those I rented 'way back when I was in school here - only this place is much nicer then those ever were. It's not the usual "vacation rental"- it's furnished like a real home, and it's obvious that Yancey and Lonnie care about their guests' comfort. Any questions I had were immediately answered, and though our schedules conflicted and we never actually saw each other, it was good to know they were available, if I needed them. If you're interested in partying, this is not the place for you - you'd do much better to stay in the French Quarter, where the action is. This is a quiet neighborhood, and though there are lots of restaurants and shops on nearby Magazine St, the vibe is family-oriented. Three good groceries and several pharmacies are located in the neighborhood, as well as "Little Fisherman" for the best boiled seafood - enjoy your crayfish on the apartment's little patio. There are numerous coffee shops and two very good ice cream shops close at hand, which made life a little sweeter. Though I was not often out at night, I would suggest you be careful - the streets in this part of town are dark, and the sidewalks can be treacherous! Not a bad idea to carry a mini-flashlight, especially if you are wearing heels... In a perfect world, the beautiful antique 4-poster bed would be a little closer to the ground - but that's just me, and I am "vertically challenged". There was a handy stool next to the bed, which made everything work out fine. The mattress was specially made to fit the bed, and was one of the most comfortable I have had the pleasure to sleep on - very nice sheets, too. I would definitely stay here again, and would especially recommend this apartment to those staying several weeks and the more mature traveller. It's a great location for exploring the city, and the neighborhood has lots to offer.

Garden District/Irish Channel Apartment

Lovely apartment was exactly as listed. Very convenient, 2 blocks from bus, 4 blocks from street car, parking was easy to find near the house (though the city could pave the streets to make it easier to place the car).there are restaurants (including Commanders Palace), bars, all types of shops and a small supermarket and drug store within a very short walk. The apartment was clean even though the house is very old and the kitchen was beautiful, loved the antique bed! I felt very comfortable there. The owners were extremely helpful not only was there a binder with all kind of information about NOLA on the coffee table but they personally were helpful. I have told everyone how much I enjoyed staying there. the only downside is that the sofa is white. When I ever get back to NOLA I hope this apartment is available.

Final 4 in New Orleans

Nothing better than staying in this apartment with this location. Me & a friend couldn't have been happier. Brunch..what a happening place at Atchafalaya. We stayed there for 5 hours on Sunday. Bars, places to eat, Starbucks, place to work out all within 3-5 blocks. Getting downtown is a few blocks to the street car and within minutes you're there. Yancy was very responsive to any questions and requests. Washer & dryer came in handy. I would definitely return and highly recommend!

Y'all Are Gonna Love This Place!

My wife & I came to New Orleans for Mardi Gras & stayed for an extra three weeks to experience the city & I must say we enjoyed every minute of it. A lot of the credit for that goes to this lovely apartment. It's full of period charm, from the furniture and decorations to the beautiful four poster bed. It's also comfortable & incredibly functional, from the well-equipped kitchen to the washer & dryer. In addition the location couldn't be better. the neighborhood is charming and we could walk to the grocery store and many great shops and restaurants. Anything else was very easy to access by bus or streetcar. Lonnie & Yancey were extremely hospitable and helpful in every way and really made us feel at home. Most of the big parades come right down St. Charles so we could easily walk up to see them which made things much easier. We ate at Bayona, Cochon, Mat & Naddies and Kyoto & also went to Domiciles & the Parkway Tavern for Po'boys. I'd recommend all of them - the food & service were both first rate. All in all we loved our time here, particularly the apartment, where we knew we could always retire to relax after a touristy day. We can hardly wait to come back. If you're looking for an authentic and truly enjoyable New Orleans experience, you can't do any better than here.

Great Apartment

We were a party of three staying four nights. The location is unbeatable - we easily traveled around without a car. Staying here also gave us the chance to explore the Garden District, which has a lot to recommend it. The apartment was very spacious and clean and even the sofa bed was comfortable! Yancey is very easy to work with and she even provided lots of ideas for places to eat and sightsee - having the local perspective helped immensely. I would definitely return and highly recommend the apartment.

Wonderful location, great experience

My family stayed at this home recently and loved it. The house is pleasant and comfortable and the location is perfect. Walking distance to cemeteries, Magazine Street, tons of stores and restaurants, street cars. Best part of New Orleans. And, Yancey was helpful, responsive and very easy to work with. Highly recommended for anyone interested in staying in the Garden District!

Great Garden District Apartment

I stayed at this Garden District Gem. It worked well. Very private, well maintained, recently updated. Good street parking, well lit. There a nice size kitchen and den/lounge area to relax in. There's a large entryway if you have a lot of luggage, purchases or a bike or stroller. The bed is a big antique historic piece with new comfy sheets. The bathroom is quite clean and functions well. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back.
