In the bedroom, cozy queen bed with quilt comforter and rustic side tables and lamps await. The room is custom made for extra suppression of noise from outside and inside the cabin. The loft holds 2 twin bunk beds snuggled into two dormers that make it feel like you are riding in a luxury train sleeper car. Each bed has its own window treatment and two sliding windows for individual temperature preferences. Top bunks have their own reading lights. The cabin's kitchen has everything you need to whip up a fabulous meal. The cabin is equipped with a Jennair dual fuel stove, hand held mixer, toaster, food processor, blender, coffee pot, coffee grinder and microwave. Enjoy table settings and seating for 8 at our large Tuscan country dining room table. Great place with young adult children and pets

Pros: cabin is gorgeously built with knotty pine walls and great attention to details, two seating areas, jacuzzi is relaxing, deck is beautiful, pool table and games are really fun, nice selection of movies, heat worked, dog friendly, bunk beds were comfy and well made, kitchen was a good space, dishwasher and washing machine a huge plus.Cons: wi-fi was out the whole time, vacuum was broken and we had to sweep daily with an old fashioned broom, the electricity in bedroom was out the first night, all the towels were in the washer and dryer when we got there so we had to do laundry, the cutlery, pots/pans and plates and bathroom rug need to be replaced and small things like there was no kleenex and wastebaskets are an easy fix. Also the rug needs to be cleaned as its dog friendly and it was musky. The jacuzzi needed water, easy fix but there was an informational guide to keep the water level right and the chemicals were in the pantry. The place is great and wonderful for dogs and our adult kids to come with us...the cons are easy fixes that could be done for under 500.

Magical Christmas Stay!

Clean, open, & bigger than I imagined, the pictures don’t do it justice! I wish I had known prior to booking that there is a rental agreement to be signed and a variety of fees for any issue that could/may wrong go wrong, as this house is managed by a real estate company of sorts. That was not disclosed prior to booking and paying for my trip in full (something I did months in advance), I found out about a week before, far too late to get any sort of refund or other arrangements. Otherwise, great time, responsive hosts, and well equipped with all the necessary equipment to stay/call this place a temporary home. Thank you for having us over.

The property

Upon arrival the door wouldn’t open with access code given. Propane tanks were all empty. After having propane tank brought to us the bbq wouldn’t work anyways looked inside of it and it was filled with so much debris that it was plugged up. Other than that the property was excellent.

Great place for a young family.

Lots of games, jacuzzi and outdoor activities will keep everyone happy. We, retirees, just enjoyed the peaceful beauty before the off roading community arrives. Early May turned out to be a perfect time to visit, we were able to hike the trails with no one else around. Even though the fires have left miles of scorched trees, the ground is swelling with green growth and spring flowers. Fortunately there are plenty of Red Cedars that survived and being able to see the mountain terrain is actually one benefit of the tragic loss. As preseason visitors, we did find the property not quite ready, but I’m sure it will get the deep spring cleaning before the summer vacationers arrive. I would definitely recommend it!

Wonderful Cabin Stay!

This property exceeded my expectations. It was clean, had everything you needed, & provided beautiful views. My husband and I wanted to get away from the hectic city life around the holidays. Normally, we spend Christmas Eve & Christmas exhausted, visiting three households. This year was by far, our most relaxing, peaceful, & favorite Christmas spent together, just the two of us in this cozy wonderful cabin stay.

now "our" vacation home

Just came back from our 3rd year booking this cozy cabin. This cabin does not disappoint with all the amenities available for an enjoyable stay. Fireplace, hot tub, outdoor fire pit, spacious deck, pool table, board games and plenty of sleeping spaces. We look every year for available places and we keep coming back to this place. There really isn't a place like this in Kernville. Price is very reasonable, and very quiet. Cabin is located right off the road which is very convenient. Barely heard any cars during our stay. Most of all it is built as a cabin which makes you feel you are actually away from everything when inside. And yes there is fish in the river! My husband caught 6 trout this year with family of deer walking near him for a drink. He had one is his best fishing trips this year! Before heading up to Wofford Heights, we grab a drink at a pub in Kernville, and grab grilling items at their local market which has everything. Very well worth booking this cabin, not a lot out there to have all the amenities. This year, we ended up adding another night because 3 days seemed too short. Cyndi and Mark were always in communication with me, very hospitable and willing to work with last minute requests. I can go on and on! Let's just say while we were there and on day we left :( we were talking about what we plan to do next year! LOL

Winter Wonderland

We enjoyed our stay in this beautiful mountain home. They are close to Kernville, an adorable town with restaurants, wine, beer, and shopping! We also went to an old ghost town in Bodfish. The home is as pictured and would be suitable for a couple or someone with kids who are old enough to use bunk beds in the loft. Great place for dog owners too. Come for the snow!! It was a winter wonderland.

A great stay

We totally did not expect snow but sure enough there were patches of snow throughout the area. The drive up was a little steep for our little Prius, but not too bad. The home is absolutely fantastic and has a great collection of DVD's and Video tapes. Hot tub works fantastically (even in the chilly weather) and was surprisingly spacious. Amenities were all fantastic and there is a big collection of board games hidden throughout the house. You get the sense that this is a home that is lived in and cared for, not just some box purchased as a way to make money. Will definitely come back.

Home away from home

Another memorable stay at this warm, cozy, snow surrounded cabin! We had the added beauty from Mother Nature after the rain to be surrounded with untouched snow around the whole cabin. It was magical, felt we were in our home. Luckily we did not have to put on snow chains to make it up to this mountain top house. I can go on forever how much we loved this place. It's hard for me to go to Kernville if this place is not available; that's how much we love it. Every amenity you can think of like this listing says: fireplace, closed in deck for your kids/pets, hot tub, outdoor fire pit, bathtub, pool table, endless games, Weber grill. etc, etc! We did not have enough time for everything they offered. Wine by the fireplace took so much of our time! Beautiful drive down to Kernville from cabin as you can pull over to take in the breathtaking view. We took our dog to Trail of 100 Giants, even though it was snowed in there were brave souls who trekked through so there was already a snow path throughout. First time for her and she loved it running around! She slept all night for each day we were out. Not to mention Cyndi was responded quickly to every silly question I had :). Thank you Cyndi and Mark for our wonderful stay. We will definitely be looking out for this cabin whenever it's available. You must book this place, it's worth it!!

We are retired Naval Officers who discovered this area after dropping our son at Jameson Ranch Camp. We bought the land in 2005 and built our cabin in 2010. We have been hosts on VRBO since 2011.

Why they chose this property

We took an alternate route home from dropping our son off at Jameson Ranch Camp in Glennville, CA. Looking at the map, we wanted to explore this lake, Lake Isabella. We had never heard of it. Imagine our surprise as we came over Greenhorn Summit on our way down to the lake when we saw For Sale signs. How could private property be available in the heart of the Sierra National Forest? After much research and looking for a vacation home, we decided that this was the place. Beautiful and relaxing yet unending opportunities for recreation and leisure activities. Whitewater rafting on the Kern, Lake Isabella boating, fishing, jetskiing, windsurfing as well as off-road trails, hiking, ATV exploring, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, sledding, and mountain biking.
