About this property

Falmouth Waterfront: Charming Waquoit Bay Three Bedroom Cottage

Experience Cape Cod charm in a cozy cottage on the water, for rent by the week, month, or other starting March 1, 2020.

The Cottage is on a large lot with a small beach located at the foot of the bay. This three bedroom Waquoit Bay (East Falmouth) home is open concept with fireplace and 180 degree views of Waquoit Bay.
A
nook alongside the brand new and updated kitchen ( autumn 2019) provides the perfect place to start the day as you receive first light of the rising sun. The cottage sleeps six (probably more if they are children).

Excellent location for kayaking with easy access. Additionally, the cottage is 100 yards from a public boat launch if you would like to bring your boat (with plenty of room for trailer storage). While there is no dock it is easy to anchor the boat on the beach. Fishing is excellent at the mouth of the bay with Washburn Island (National Estuary Research Reserve) and South Cape State Beach framing the head of the bay. Waquoit bay is a shallow sandy bay great for the explorer, shell collector, and sun worshiper in all of us.
Suitability:
-non smoking only
-children welcome
-wheelchair inaccessible
-unsuitable for infirm

Additional Amenities:
-washer and dryer
-3+ car driveway
-Hardwood floors
-shell fishing license and beach pass

Fun in Falmouth

The house and location were great. The view of the bay was beautiful and the access to the water was a short walk down the stairs! The sunrises were not to be missed! It was a short drive to downtown and location was convenient to other fun places too.

Beautiful stay!

We had a wonderful week at this charming and historic home! We rented kayaks and enjoyed exploring and fishing the bay, the kids loved the small beach in the backyard and the views from the house are gorgeous. Location was close to Falmouth as well as other nearby towns with grocery, ice cream, pizza within a few mins drive. The house itself was comfortable with a lot of interesting history and character. We would stay here again!

Wonderful views kayakers paradise

This was our second stay at Blake’s family home. The kitchen had everything we needed as well as a gas Webber grill which we made use of. Location has spectacular views and a quiet setting. It’s a bonus to be able to anchor our motorboat as well as easily launch kayaks from private beach. We had another great stay. Thanks for sharing your home and for the helpful information package you provided.

Mesmerizing views

The location and property were awesome. My husband described the views as mesmerizing. The house was clean, very nice kitchen which had everything we needed plus some. Another couple joined us for a few days plenty of room for all of us. We stored our bikes in the garage and enjoyed using the fire pit snd grill in the evening. We brought kayaks and were also able to anchor a small motorboat. Exploring the area by water was wonderful. Restaurants and supermarkets conveniently close by. My only disappointment was that we had fog each morning. I plan to return next year so I can enjoy a beautiful sunrise. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you Blake for sharing your home with us.

Girl friend get away

This is quite a lovely place. Very quiet. And even though there are neighbors on both sides, you still feel very secluded. The bay is very pretty. I woke early enough for the most spectacular sunrise. We plan to go back next year. Thank you for sharing this wonderful spot

Great spot!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Cape in this beautiful little cottage by the sea. Situated in a neighborhood where you don’t need to be there unless you need to be there, and overlooking Waquoit Bay, which is beautiful anytime of day or night, it’s a serene little getaway nicely located to access all the Upper Cape has to offer.

Breathtaking and Relaxing

My family and I (husband and two children 2 & 4) loved staying here! It was hard to leave. The rental is clean and comfortable. As others have said the view is hard to beat!! Breathtaking! Glittering water with boats serenely floating on the bay. We rented a kayak one day and launched right from the beach at the property. We paddled down to Washburn Island and went to the beach! What a hidden gem! My kids and I crabbed at the house with nets and enjoyed swimming in the warm water at the house! There is also an amazing outdoor shower that is not mentioned in the description but shown in the pictures! Super peaceful. There wasn’t AC but the fans and ocean breeze were enough to keep us cool. Nit picky way to improve the rental even more would be to get a loveseat or couch for more comfortable seating in the living room. There’s no way to cuddle up with kids or significant others because there are only individual chairs facing the TV. We can’t wait to go back next summer!

Rejuvination of the soul!

My husband and I spend a wonderful week at this property, and I cannot express how restful and relaxing this place is! The view says it all - gorgeous, peaceful, never ending! If you enjoy "old Cape Cod", then this is the place to stay. We spent every morning watching the sun rise from the Adirondack chairs, and every evening down by the little beach raising a glass of wine while dipping our feet in the warm water. I cannot think of a better place to rejuvenate your soul and get away from the noise of the workday. Thank you to Marion and Blake for all of their info, and for sharing a piece of their history.

Beautiful home in amazing location

The house was perfect for our family - plenty of room with breathtaking views. It is in a quiet neighborhood. The beds were very comfortable with very soft linens. It was a huge treat to be able to wake up each morning and fall asleep each night to the colors and sounds coming from the bay. The house has everything we needed and there were some beach items for sharing, which was helpful. We were so grateful to be able to stay during the pre-season summer time. The woman who corresponded with me was very kind; it was a slower response time than other airb&b's we have stayed at (but is within the two days they state on their site). We hope to spend more time there in the future!

Amazing little place with incredible view!

We were blown away! The view is incredible all hours of the day and even in bad weather. The private beach was magical, had several fires in the fire pit and watched the sun set. Place was spotlessly clean and very cozy. Blake was a wonderful host. Would recommend to anyone and plan on coming back one day.

Quintessential Cape Cod Cottage

We loved our stay at Sunrise Point. The house is charming, white painted clapboard, lighthouse painted cabinets, lovely gardens, plenty of space for my family and the view than cannot be described properly. It was breathtaking. I stayed with my husband and kids. My kids are came and went as their work schedule allowed but it was a wonderful landing place for everyone to enjoy the Cape. The private beach was wonderful. Swimming was good if you're not afraid of seaweed....we used paddle boards and boogie boards, tubes, etc to splash around and cool off. Wasn't sure if we were allowed to use the grill in the basement but it looks like it hadn't been used in a while so we didn't bring it out. It would have been great to have a grill there but we used a small one we brought from home. The beds were comfortable. All the rooms were decorated very cute. Lots of seating for just hanging out inside. The breakfast nook was big enough for all of us. We had a blast and would love to come back again! It's a beautiful home that I feel very lucky to have been able to enjoy for a week.

About the host

Hosted by Blake Cullimore

Host profile image
This is a family owned house, all of whom have spent time on the bay with fond memories of sailing, rowing, swimming, clamming, exploring, sitting, reading, and generally embodying summer on the Cape at its idyllic best. With my two children (7 and 4) and often a friend or two of theirs we spend several weeks of the summer exploring beaches and Washburn island. It is our hope that whoever joins us to experience Waquoit becomes a friend and an annual guest.

Why they chose this property

The cottage was built in 1926 by my great grandfather and has been used as a vacation home or all season home since then. As generations of us have spent our summers on the Bay, it is the perfect location for a family, individual, or couple looking to relax and slow down.

What makes this property unique

There is sometimes nothing better than watching the comings and goings of life on the water. The house enjoys a near perfect location for a sunrise across the bay with views that extend 2 miles down-bay. While the area has plenty of public beach access. You can swim, Quohog, crab, and build sand castles right in front of the house. You can also go down bay and have access to incredible beaches on Vineyard sound or in the bay where the shallow water stays warm and inviting, perfect for children and lazing about.
