About this property
Beautiful handcrafted redwood home surrounded by decks and a hot tub with a view
Gordon's Redwood Treehouse Retreat offers the perfect getaway for just about anyone. The house sleeps 4 and sits in the Redwood's of Guerneville. The house is surrounded by decks and a beautiful new patio, complete with outdoor dining and a hot tub.
The space
This beautifully handcrafted home built in 1932, nestled among the Redwoods, is a true Treehouse retreat that offers a distinguished and uncommon getaway experience. Just minutes from Guerneville's unique shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars, as well as being a stone's throw from Johnson's Beach and Armstrong Woods, this charming and rustic home is perfect for couples, friends, and families.
My house in the Redwoods is surrounded by decks, offers commanding views of the Russian River Valley, and gets plenty of sun during the day. Thinking that this setting would be perfect for a barbeque with friends? I agree, which is why there is a fully-equipped gas-range grill and patio table with umbrella that seats four. Once the evening sun has set (or the morning sun has risen), the hot tub on the side of the house provides the perfect place to relax.
Inside, the main entrance opens into a spacious living room with high ceilings that feels like a loft, but with the warmth and charm of a tree house bungalow. A handcrafted wood spiral staircase just off the main living area, leads upstairs to the first loft-style master bedroom. Much like a cozy hammock, windows on one side open to overlook the living room, while the opposite side windows overlooks the tree tops. The second bedroom is located on the main floor just off of the living room.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with an oven, gas stove, microwave, and all the utensils and cookware you could possibly need.
Guest access
Guests will be able to access the entire house except for a private locked room located under the house. This room is used for the house manager who is on-site periodically to check on the house.
Other things to note
The spiral staircases to the upstairs loft bedroom is handmade and is quite narrow and a bit steep. Please take caution when walking up and down the stairs. I do not recommend wearing only socks on the stairs, as the treads can be a bit slick. Please wear slippers, shoes or go barefoot. This is the only way to access the upstairs loft bedroom.
Also, the stone steps that lead down to the hot tub can be a bit slippery when it is raining out so please be extra careful when walking down to the hot tub when it is raining.
If you choose to walk around the neighborhood please note that the streets are pretty steep, so I don't recommend walking if you have health issues.

About the host
Hosted by Gordon Rempel
My husband Nate and I both live and own a business together in San Francisco. Back in 2012, we purchased our beautiful house up in the trees of Guerneville as a weekend retreat away from the city. It is very special to us and we love spending time up there.
Since our busy work schedules prevents us from escaping to Guerneville as much as we would like, we have decided to share our beautiful and unique house in the trees with others, rather than let it sit empty and unused. Those of you lucky enough to find respite here will undoubtedly understand why staying in this space is such a special experience.

Why they chose this property
The neighborhood is located up on a hill surrounded by a beautiful redwood forrest filled with unique homes nestled between the trees. We love the neighborhood because it is very quite with super friendly neighbors and its only 1 mile from downtown Guerneville
What makes this property unique
The house sits perched up above the road and was built in 1932 as a vacation cabin for the original owners. In the 1960's the house was purchased by 2 architects who remodeled the house and added on an entire section of the house. They added windows up high near the ceilings so you can see right up in to the trees. The house has a mid century vibe to it and is definitely one of kind.
