Conveniently located, scenic view comfortable stay
The condo was well stocked with many basics ie. kitchen supplies. Convenient in town location-we didn't try to travel to the beach, so can't speak to those distances. Peaceful setting-although the trash & recycling people come very early, & are very loud. Otherwise, quiet area.

Lovely peaceful spot
This 2 story townhouse has everything you need. We spent much of our time on the outdoor patio overlooking the lake. A great spot for sunbathing, reading and taking meals prepared on the gas grill. The owner. John, was quick to respond when we had need to contact him. We hope to return.

Closing on a house and needed a place to stay
Before we closed we almost said forget we will stay here forever! Sell all your stuff because this place is fully stocked with cookware, and anything you might need. It’s a quick to jaunt to Sanibel or Fort Myers Beach. Great place with great hosts. I think we made our first SWFL friends with John and Sherrie. Love it and thank you!

Absolutely loved this place!
My husband and I came to Fort Myers to get away from it all and clear our heads after the death of my dad. We needed privacy and quiet so we could just retreat and rest. This condo was PERFECT. We LOVED the floor plan and decor. The entire place was equipped with EVERYTHING a person could need. We have rented many places through VRBO and this place had the BEST appointed kitchen ever. We loved sitting outside and eating our meals, watching the wildlife on the water. John the owner was there to greet us and show us around a bit. Thank you for a great stay.

Nice spot!
We're golfers so we didn't spend a ton of time at the condo, however, it was nicely appointed and had everything we needed. The patio was great in the evening for relaxing as well as having a fish full of bass. Will definitely stay here again if we're in the Ft. Myers area.

Lake McGregor Townhome
This place was wonderful. It fit our needs perfectly. It was immaculately clean and ready when we arrived. Mr Gray, the owner, was more than accommodating and a pleasure to work with. The kitchen was very nice, the bed rooms, especially upstairs, was very only negative was the fact that they were redoing the stucco on the exterior of all the building and they happened to be doing our' the week we were there. But it really wasn't a huge deal as we were gone most of the days. The construction materials and equipment did keep us from using the patio as much as we would have liked but, again, it was only a temporary inconvenience. The work should be completed by now. The location was great, at least for us, and it was very easy to navigate around Fort Myers, Naples, and the beaches without having trouble finding our way back. The neighborhood was extremely quite and peaceful. We would DEFINITELY try to reserve this unit again.

Surround yourself with Wildlife
We very much enjoyed our stay at the John Grey property. Mr. Grey was very helpful with a couple of questions that we had and made the entire process easy. The townhome was perfect for our week get-away and we would certainly want to visit again when in Ft. Myers. thanks!

Absolutely Beautiful
We absolutely loved staying here as a family. It was so quiet and beautiful. It was in a great location and next to grocery stores and the beaches. When we make it back to Florida we hope this home will be available for our family again. John was wonderful and readily available if anything was needed. Jolyn, Terre Haute, Indiana

Worked Perfectly
Thank You John for letting us stay at your place. My husband and I felt the townhouse was super comfortable, very clean , designed beautifully, and had everything we needed. Our daughter showed up for a few days and we were thrilled we had a bedroom and bathroom for her also. We had a wonderful time drinking coffee outside on the back patio and watching so many different kinds of birds, very cool. The location also worked for us ,as it is pretty central. All in all , a good choice.

Quiet but !?
We loved the serene surroundings with the lovely lake and the wonderful wild waterfowl that were greeting us most days during our stay. The townhouse is located in a quiet neighborhood: & at the end of a noise-traffic day, sitting on the patio and watching the birds and sun bathing was very nice. The actual townhouse has a kitchen with all of the needed requirements. The washer and dryer are located on the first floor which is good. The master bedroom is spacious, but we would prefer a door to the master bathroom rather than the curtain provided. Our major concern was the lack of a table for eating inside the townhouse. It seems as though one of the smaller couches could be removed and a small 4-person table could replace that space. For that reason; lack of a table to eat upon inside the townhouse, We would NOT recommend this unit for anyone with children. The location is very nicely located near Hammond Field for Twins Spring training games. John was very attentive to our needs. Very pleasant! I would recommend this unit with reservations: ie; be aware there is no in door table for eating.

Hidden Gem
Having been to Fort Myers in the past we knew that we liked this location, what we didn't know was how special John's rental would be. Looking at photos gives you an idea of properties but until you are there you can't really be sure if it will be comfortable and live up to the reviews. We found it to be a perfect vacation spot for us. The complex is quiet consisting of 2 sets of 5 two story condos. John's property is the end unit. The fenced yard with the gazebo is situated so guests have privacy as well as a fantastic view of the lake. We found there were days that we just didn't want to leave the yard. Yes, there really are egrets & other waterfowl. Shortly after arriving, we checked to see if we could extend our time there. We were disappointed to learn that it was already booked. The Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Center is within a 5-10 min drive, we were able to attend 2 performances. Parking is easy and there are good restaurants in that area. Some of our favorite restaurants are The Prawnbroker, University Grill, Cibo. Favorite casual ones not far from condo are LaCasita, Cape Cod Fish Company. On Captiva Island The Bubble Room is fun. We enjoy Nervous Nellies at Fort Myers Beach. While walking our dog one day we stopped at Caruso's Eats and Treats (aptly named) near the condo for a LoveBoat ice cream cone and soon learned that their meals are good too! Favorite places in Fort Myers are Six Mile Cypress Slough, Edison& Ford Estates, Tanger Outlets. It is easy to get to the beaches at Fort Myers, Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel is a great birding place. Miromar Outlets are not too far. Discount shopping, consignment shopping, Costco,The Bell Tower Shops with movie theaters and restaurants are all close by,some within walking distance. It was a pleasure meeting John. He asks for feedback about the property. It is obvious that he cares about the comfort of his guests. The upgrades he has made set this rental apart! The kitchen was great to work in. Check the pantry and frig before you shop, there are spices, oils etc there. The furniture is comfortable and that was an important consideration for us since we were there for 6 weeks.Lack of indoor eating space was mentioned. When the weather wasn't conducive (although eating outside was one of our favorite things) we took the bar stools and put them next to kitchen counter. We have our deposit made for next year and looking forward to returning. Thanks, John!

A secluded hideaway in an otherwise crowded town
I chuckled reading the "surround yourself with wildlife" heading before we booked, only to find out there is wildlife on Lake McGregor. OK, nothing on the scale of the Loch Ness monster, but a pretty good selection of birds. The unit was terrific. We chose the location to be closer to numerous baseball games, so it worked for us. The major spaces (kitchen and 2 baths) have been recently upgraded with high end finishes. The real gem is the outside space which is very peaceful and serene. The traffic in Ft. Myers, the first week of high season is maddening. Coming home to this setting every night was very nice. The area was very quiet. Things to be careful about: There really isn't any indoor dining space. My guess is that the kitchen renovation took out that area. You end up with a very large and nicely appointed kitchen. Going back to the outdoor space - it becomes your dining room. Which we liked. There's plenty of space in the living room to slouch with your meals. Anywho. You're going out most nights or doing take-out. Unless you're bringing grandma to put out an 8 course Thanksgiving meal every-night, you'll be fine. The internet connection slowed to modem like speeds during our stay. I brought this up which the owner responded he pays for fast service and has complained to the cable company. Later during the same week, we visited two other Florida resort areas and found the same, slow internet. The owner was correct. The shear density of people, along with multiple devices that families now possess in these units, just drag the internet to a crawl. Everywhere. I also brought with me two, cellular internet hubs. Even they slowed to a crawl. You are going to have to read a newspaper. Sorry kids. We had a small maintenance issue in the unit the owner promptly handled the incident, even though it wasn't crucial. Overall, we would return to this same unit, or consider renting from the same owner. A neat, local dining find was The Prawnbroker. It's where the locals go. It's crowded, but we had a fine time chatting up the locals in the bar waiting for our table. Our meal was terrific.

Lake McGregor condo
We stayed in John's condo for the entire month of January. First, John and Sherrie did a wonderful job remodeling and decorating the unit. The setting is peaceful with a view of the lake (pond) right out the door. Many kinds of birds nest there, and are relatively tame for feeding. The outdoor terrace, table, and canopy provided a comfortable place to park daily. The unit is essentially socially isolated, within a working-class neighborhood. It is not in a complex, so there is no pool, clubhouse, or social gathering points. However, our Bichon made a number of friends, as there are puppies all over the neighborhood. Shopping and restaurants are nearby. While the overall atmosphere of the unit was pleasant, it lacked some basics. There is no table and chairs inside the condo. It's a pain to try to work on the computer hunched over the coffee table or eat on it. There are too few light sources in the downstairs bedroom-only one 40W. lamp and only one reading light in the master bedroom. While the VRBO ad says there is basic cable, the only channels available are the local networks and a few others. Netflix, Hula, Crackle, and other internet channels are available, but, perhaps, real cable will be installed in the near future. Basic amenities like toilet paper, dishwasher and laundry soaps, and wastebasket bags were not adequately provided for a long stay, but John was kind enough to replenish them. All-in-all we enjoyed a pleasant stay and would recommend this condo for people who don't need a lot of social stimulation but like a more serene atmosphere.
