Fantastic for a long-term stay

I had a wonderful time staying in this lovely apartment for 12 weeks! For starters, the Oltrarno is a great neighborhood, very charismatic and away from the most touristy parts of the city center. However, this apartment is in a great location—just a short walk from the Ponte Vecchio and no more than 20 minutes walking from any of the major attractions. The hosts were wonderful and very communicative, and brought over extra blankets and a portable heater as the weather became colder for winter. Having A/C in the unit is an uncommon plus in the city. Overall I couldn't imagine a better place to have stayed during my time in Florence!

A great place to stay in an ideal location!

I stayed for six, nice long weeks! I was very comfortable, nice place to come back to every evening. Great location! Ideal for 1-2 persons. Big live-in kitchen on the street side, well-equipped as advertised, a corridor leading to the bedroom and through that to the bathroom at the back. Glad to have air conditioning units in kitchen and bedroom. In the bedroom there’s no street noise. Convenient washing machine in the bathroom. There are mosquitoes around, this is Florence, but I was rarely disturbed by any in the night. Probably best not to open the windows too long at dusk. Bedroom window should really have an insect screen so you could leave it open at night. Helps to turn on the air conditioning, they don’t like moving air. Cooker’s fine, I regularly cooked pasta or rice dishes with meat and veg. Two of the cooking rings have a useful Power setting, which heats things up very quickly, eg. warm milk for morning coffee in less than 15 secs! Nearest supermarket is 5 mins away near the Ponte Vecchio. Also a small Conad supermarket in the via S. Monaca, a street or so beyond the Piazza S. Spirito, where there’s a regular market. At the Ambrogio market (north of S. Croce) there’s a daily vegetable market, a regular flea market and some permanent shops in the central building. The shop at the southwestern corner is inexpensive with nice salads, sandwiches, and tempting sweet things for dessert! The Gusta pizza place close to the apartment makes good, inexpensive pizzas. The queue at opening time isn’t as bad as it looks, the service is fast! There‘s a water tap in the Pitti square next to the bus stop, where you can fill up your water bottle. The water’s fine to drink. There’s an organic shop „Sugar Blues“ at Nr. 57 Via dei Serragli, south of the Ponte alla Carraia. Found a good Kebab place over the river in the via dei Benci. Favourite ice cream place: south end of the Ponte Trinita! Creamier than any others I tried! The Pitti Palace has early morning half-price tickets! Check out the S. Miniato Church, after evening mass monks sing Gregorian chants, wonderful! Found a nice simple cafe in a great location by the river just beyond the Vespucci bridge. Hired a bike at “Florence by Bike”, via S. Zanobi. They gave me maps and were very helpful. NB. You can’t keep a bike at the apartment. Many thanks to Ilaria and her parents for a nice place to stay and a warm welcome! I would definitely recommend this apartment and would stay here again!

Perfect Place!

My husband and I stayed for 2 months. The hosts were so helpful and friendly; best home rental experience I've ever had! Ilaria's dad met us when we first arrived and gave us a tour and left us a bottle of wine and her mom answered all of our questions and reminded us about things like the daylight savings time change. The apartment is quaint/cute and had everything we needed to experience Florence like locals; functional kitchen and appliances (where we cooked plenty), grocery store nearby, and a quieter location in Oltrarno away from the tourist hordes. Walking distance to Firenze SMN bus and train station, which we used extensively. For Americans: you have to get used to the small refrigerator and lack of clothes dryer and elevator--that's the authentic European/Italian experience, not a criticism of the apartment. Also, as the description notes, there are 4 flights of stairs--good exercise to burn off all the pasta :) The noise level can be comparable to city living; decently quiet/unnoticeable overall, but on Fri/wkends the walls are a kinda thin, so you'll hear a bit of whatever's going on outside or upstairs. Overall, a fantastic experience and highly recommended!

Wonderful apartment in perfect location!

I stayed in this lovely apartment for an extended period of time and I couldn’t ask for anything better. The place is located on a beautiful street in between Palazzo Pitti and Piazza Santo Spirito, so there were many bars and restaurants in close walking distance. You can easily reach any bridge to cross the river to view all of the main tourist attractions (although there are many things to see in this area). The apartment is beautifully decorated and clean, with all of the amenities needed. The hosts were lovely and made sure that my stay was comfortable. I would highly recommend this apartment!

Beautiful apartment, amazing location

I had the pleasure of staying here long term while studying in Florence and I can say that this apartment is exceptional. Its fully equipped with everything you'd need and more (a full size bath, dishwasher and oven are very rare in Florence!) and is decorated beautifully. lts situated right between the Pitti Palace and Santo Spirito square which is perfect for popping out to the many restaurants, bars and shops in the area. Its also just a few minutes walk to the major sights such as the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi and Duomo. The apartment is very bright and it was lovely to wake up to a view of the Florentine rooftops and Duomo in the distance. Benedetta and Riccardo were warm and welcoming and were great hosts throughout my stay. I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking to stay in Florence. I will miss the apartment and Florence and will definitely stay here again if I revisit.

Beautiful and chic apartment

Beautiful apartment, very stylish and chic and in the heart of Florence. My son and I loved staying here and its location, we enjoyed eating in Santo Spirito and seeing Pitti Palace as soon as we came out of the apartment every morning. Bernadette and Riccardo Tartgalia were very hospitable and kind and we're always available to help whenever we had any questions about Florence. The neighbours were also very kind to my son and I and by the time we left Florence we felt we had made many friends. I would highly recommend staying here for your trip to Florence.

Home away from home

The apartment is south of the River Arno. On a map it seems that is away from the main attractions but in reality it isn't. The Ponte Vecchio is only a few minutes away, the train station about 20 minutes with rolling luggage but on the map looks further. The apartment is lovely with everything the ordinary traveller looking for a self-catering apartment should need; washing machine, dish washer, well equipped kitchen, Nespresso machine, comfy bed, teapot (a first in Italy for us), etc…, everything we expect (hope) for from an apartment. If there is a negative (and it wasn't for us) it is that the apartment is on the 4th floor but this is mentioned on the site so shouldn't be a surprise to anyone booking. We were greeted by Benedetta (Ilaria's mum) who showed us around the apartment and left us with a bottle of wine. There are several supermarkets in the vicinity, the closest is near the Ponte Vecchio, as well as several smaller places selling bread/meats/cheese. We regularly visited the gelateria at Ponte Santa Trinita (other gelaterie are available) often eating it on the Ponte Santa Trinita, watching the world go by. You also get a good view of the Ponte Vecchio (next bridge down). Mercato Centrale (near Basilica San Lorenzo) is also worth a visit, food market downstairs, restaurants upstairs. Ate there on a couple of occasions. Met up once with Benedetta and Riccardo (her husband) for coffee and a chat which was lovely. I do wish my Italian was as good as their English. We would recommend the FirenzeCard for a 3 day blitz of all the significant museums in Florence. I also allows you priority entry (worth the fee alone) and a 3 day bus ticket which we used to go to Fiesole. Would we use this apartment again? Oh yes, without any reservations.

Everything a vacation rental in Europe should be!

This apartment provided all that was needed for my daughter and I during our two week travels in northern Italy. We were met at the door by the owners' parents, caring for the apartment while their artist daughter and her husband are living in Paris. They went out of their way to be sure we were comfortable and well informed, even suggesting places to eat: Gusto Pizza was great! The internet worked fine, Keurig type coffee maker included pods; washer and drying racks were so helpful, and the location was perfect! I couldn't have found a more well suited v.r. for us, and wish our other stays had been nearly as nice!

Clean, comfortable, well-located apartment

This a walk-up apartment in an older-style building (by American standards) with a relatively steep and narrow stairway. But after one or two trips up and down we felt comfortable with it (and we're 62 and 57 years old with decent fitness). Consider it good training for walking and seeing the magnificent sights in Florence. The apartment itself is very clean and charming, and it is within 150 yards of Palazzo Pitty and easy walking distance to Ponte Vecchio and tourist sites on the other side of the river. The apartment is in an area that has a genuine "neighborhood" feel. The restaurants in the area were very good and very reasonably priced. Finally, we were several hours late on arrival, and Ilaria's friend Paola was extremely gracious and waited for us. And Ilaria has been prompt, helpful, and friendly in all of our exchanges. We highly recommend the apartment.

A perfect apartment!

Our two week stay here was perfect. Situated on a quiet side street, yet steps away from the Pitti Palace and the Ponte Vecchio, the apartment offers the best of Florence. We've traveled to Florence several times and this is now our favorite place to stay. The apartment is immaculate, is perfectly appointed, has excellent AC and fan system (we happened on a heat wave), and the contemporary kitchen allowed for great use of fresh ingredients from the nearby outdoor market and local grocery. Plus, just down in the square is the best gelato in Florence along with excellent moderately priced restaurants. The 60 steps up to the apartment will be a real issue for some, but, the exercise was helpful! From the apartment all of Florence is easily walkable, and then upon your return the apartment offers a sweet and truly Italian comforting oasis after touring. You'll be hard pressed to find more gracious and attentive owners.

The perfect apartment for our 10-day Honeymoon

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for our 10-day honeymoon in Florence. It was exactly what we expected based on the reviews and the A/C was heavenly in the heat wave we experienced in Florence. We did not use the kitchen very much since there were so many delicious restaurants nearby, but it was really convenient to have it if we needed it. The apartment was quiet, clean, and the perfect amount of space for us. The bedroom got so dark at night that we could have slept in for hours each day had we wanted to. The location of this apartment was perfect and an easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go. We also highly recommend Enoteca Pitti Gola e Cantina just around the corner, where we enjoyed amazing wine, fantastic service and delicious food at least four times during our visit. Thank you so much for a wonderful apartment, it made our stay in Florence all the better.

Very Nice, Very Convenient Location

This property was exactly as advertised. The owner was clear beforehand that there were 60 steps to the flat, and all of the amenities were as promised. The only minor issues we had were pretty trivial; we didn't understand how to turn on the stairwell lights initially (but figured it out quickly!) and the set of keys were brand new and were sometimes challenging to use on the door locks. Overall, we had a wonderful time and a great experience. Thank!

Wonderful stay in Florence

From our first step in the door this has been a most pleasant stay. We were made to feel so welcome. The recommendation to eat at Casalinga was truly one of the highlights for us. The apartment is very clean and bright and met all of our expectations.

Excellent Property

We recently spent three weeks in Italy, and stayed in several different areas (VRBO's, average and luxury hotels). We can whole-heartedly say our stay at Iliara's residence was our favorite. She was available upon our arrival, and provided great directions to her home. The space is beautifully decorated, well maintained and well stocked--- anything you could need or desire during the stay is available in her apartment (kitchen supplies, fresh towels, toiletries, etc). She even welcomed us with a bottle of wine. Thank you so much Iliara for making our stay in Florence so wonderful. We appreciated everything and highly recommend your apartment to anyone looking for a place to stay.

Very comfortable apartment

A clean, well-equipped and well-maintained apartment in a very central location. Ilaria, Riccardo and Benedetta were very friendly and welcoming and on hand and helpful for the occasional additional enquiry once we had moved in. Stairs were no problem (and we're both over 60!). We had a very good Christmas week in Florence.

Wow, What a Find!

I stayed here five days with my wife and son in November. The apartment was cosy, very clean and perfectly suited to our needs. It is centrally located south of the Arno just by Pitti Palace, around the corner from the atmospheric Piazza del Santo Spirito and two minutes' walk from the best gelateria in Florence in Piazza della Passera. The Ponte Vecchio is less than five minutes away, and most of the historic sights, as well as the main train station are within fifteen minutes on foot. The apartment itself was surprisingly quiet given its central location. It had all the necessary conveniences and more - a fully functional and well-equipped kitchen, a nifty espresso machine, satellite TV, wifi internet, dishwasher, washing machine, shower and bath with hot water on demand. The bedroom and bathroom were also immaculate and well kitted out. The lounge converts to a double bed which was also very comfortable. The steps were no problem for us. This apartment turned out to be the ideal base for our forays into Florence and the Tuscany region. The owners were professional, friendly and hospitable, and seemed to know exactly what travellers to Florence needed to know. My only and truly deep disappointment is that I cannot give this apartment six stars.

The Perfect Apartment

Highly recommended! I come to Florence periodically for work, so have gotten to know the city as well as any regular visitor can. Normally I stay in a hotel, but in the future I will definitely be staying in this apartment again. I stayed here ten nights, and was sorry to leave! The apartment itself is fantastic - lots of amenities; very clean and well-maintained; bright, sunny, and airy; and in the best location. Everything seemed new, and all of the photos are accurate. Wi-fi, refrigerator, oven, coffee-maker, dishwasher, clothes washer, sound system for iPod, etc., all worked great - and were wonderful to find, since you don't get them in hotels or even all apartments. I also could iron my clothes, which was nice, and could even take a bath. There was a water filter pitcher too, so I didn't have to buy water (a great little perk). I loved being able to see the lantern of the Duomo and the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio out the bedroom window! The whole apartment was very comfortable. There are a lot of steps up, but it was not a big deal for me, and helped keep the noise down. The bedroom is in the back of the apartment and is pretty quiet, during the day there is a little noise from the street in the front, but not bad. Being in the Oltrarno, at every time of day it was MUCH quieter than being on the other side of the river. At night and in the morning I heard nothing, and I slept great (I cannot stress the importance and pleasure of this enough!) The location is really perfect, because you get the benefits of the Oltar'arno (quiet, more laid-back, less tourists, Piazza Santo Spirito, and some of my favorite restaurants), while it is just down the street about 3 blocks from the Ponte Vecchio, so in five minutes you are at Piazza della Signoria and right in the heart of Florence. Piazza Santo Spirito is very close, with some great places to eat, as is Piazza della Passera with more great restaurants. Most importantly, the owners are wonderful. They were very communicative beforehand, waiting for me when I arrived, explained everything thoroughly and speak English well, and were very warm, welcoming, and relaxed the whole time. They even went out of their way to assist me a couple times during my visit. I really can't recommend this place high enough, and I look forward to returning to it!

Comfort and Location Ideal

We loved the apartment and its location! It was exactly what we were looking for. The location is excellent - it is close to the heart of Florence but just far enough away from the more crowded sites to enjoy Florence in a more relaxed way. We loved the Santo Spirito neighborhood just down street from the apartment. The apartment is a nice combination of being comfortable, tastefully decorated and reflective of Italian charm. It is accurately portrayed in the description and photos. Everything was modern, clean and easy to use. Even though there were 60 steps - we always looked forward to the feeling that we were home when we opened that apartment door! The owner(s) were prompt, gracious and wanted to serve us in the best ways possible. We appreciated that they wanted to contribute to our having a pleasant stay in Florence! We definitely recommend this property - it was perfect for us!

Fantastic location, romantic, comfortable, modern

This apartment is not only beautiful but more importantly comfortable, cozy, romantic, and very convenient. The kitchen is top of the line with bran new appliances, the bathroom is modern, the bed is very comfortable. There is a lot of space in the apartment. It is also very quiet. The location is perfect i.e. two minutes walk from Ponte Vechio. The ratio price- quality is excellent. I will definitely come back. This is a five star apartment for the price of a 3 star.
