Great Stay at Awesome A-Frame Beach House
A retirement celebration trip to see beautiful autumn colors in northern Michigan with my husband Larry (married 41 years) included a very special and delightful two night stay at Richard & Stephanie Guyor's darling A-Frame beach home in Harbor Springs. I was looking for a charming place near Lake Michigan, nestled in the woods and this darling little place was just the ticket! Talk about clever and efficient construction... this wonderful economy size hide-a-way had everything we needed and was designed with comfort & convenience in mind and eye appeal. We were so pleased with the features of this mini beauty... such as the gorgeous interior wood and marble tile floor, nice built-in places for things, a great TV with lots and lots of stations, a multi-purpose space saving kitchen unit that contained a frig, a good size sink and burners for stove-top cooking and all the necessary dishes & kitchen utensils, There was a very nice inside half bath with toilet & sink and cabinet underneath and a fabulous outdoor shower (which felt terrific!). For sleeping, we pulled out a lovely futon that turned into a comfortable bed. Larry is 6'1" and he didn't have any problem with bumping his head. We loved the big desk with an unobstructed view of Lake Michigan and we made a point of star gazing on the deck at night. One of our favorite thing was sitting on the beach at night with a campfire and watching/listening to the waves coming into shore. We wished we had been able to stay a whole week, as it would have been fun to explore the beach & woods more. The ride to get to this A-Frame was gorgeous in fall and parts of it took us through the M-119 "Tunnel of Trees" which was just fantastic to do... amazing colors & views of Lake Michigan! Our host, Richard, was such an attentive host and made sure we knew all the features of his beach home and gave us tips about where to eat in the area. We enjoyed Legs Inn (authentic Polish food yum yum) and New York (classy restaurant, delicious food and two for one pricing before 5:30 pm!) Richard was very interesting and quite talented and showed us the stone waterfalls he had created throughout his property, including a real moat and drawbridge at his adjacent home. All in all... we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this special A-frame beach home and would definitely go there again... maybe next summer, so we could enjoy playing in Lake Michigan too - with some kayaks that are made available for guests. Excellent stay!
