About this property

Winfield Cottage: a hillside farm haven

Winfield Cottage is more than a stay; it’s a gateway to a simpler time. Perched high on a mystical mountainside in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, here the noise of modernity is replaced by the comfort of a wood stove. The sleeping, snowy beckons you to strap on skis or snowshoes. It is a place of home-cooked meals, of quiet luxury, of sparkling sunrises, of roaming sheep and clucking chickens, of bright days for exploring and long nights for sleeping.

The space:

Winfield Cottage offers luxury without the attitude: a crisp, clean little house where everything is where it should be and all needs are met. A high-end king bed with king sleeper sofas for more guests. Washer, dryer, dishwasher, ski storage, a deck, a wood stove, a Bluetooth speaker, and warm heated floors. A panoramic view of the towering forests. Solar panels make our property net-zero.

Outside you’ll be accompanied by our sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, and the unflappable Philip the goose.

Great little VT getaway.

The house is a perfect little getaway place in a part of VT that isnt particularly close to much. And thats what makes it perfect. There is so much outside activity to keep you busy. The house itself is very clean, and provided everything we needed. The owners were incredibly friendly, and so were a few of the animals. We loved our stay. And hope to return soon.

Jenny and I are originally from Virginia but immigrated to Vermont in 2017. We are more in love with this place every day, particularly with the magic of the Northeast Kingdom. We love helping people get to know this area and the many wonders that hide around every corner. Both of us are avid travelers and love meeting like-minded people!

Why they chose this property

This neighborhood is an artsy, self-reliant community — lots of brilliant minds around here creating beautiful things. Sunday afternoons the neighborhood gathers to play softball at the bottom of the hill. There's a spa/retreat at the top of the hill as well.

What makes this property unique

We homesteaded this property ourselves by hand — we built the structures, cultivated the land, and made our dream come to life. We're proud to call it home and find that it possesses a certain kind of magic. On it you'll find a barn, a log cabin music studio, and two cute Vermont cape houses.
