About this property

Spacious Apt in a real Brooklyn neighborhood, quick subway ride from Manhattan

This very spacious, comfortably furnished, fully-equipped 1 bedroom apartment is located in the beautiful area of Prospect Park South / Ditmas Park - known for its historic district with free-standing, elegant Victorian homes built in the 1900’s. At just two blocks from the Church Avenue stop of the Q and B trains, this apartment is a quick, direct subway ride from Manhattan, is near all the highlights of Brooklyn (Botanic Gardens, Brooklyn Museum, Park Slope, Coney Island, Barclay's Center stadium & concert venue) and just a short walk from Prospect Park. Critically-acclaimed restaurants and fashionable bars abound in the lovely Ditmas Park neighborhood. Supermarkets, fruit/vegetable stands, stores, etc. are all steps away. Enjoy the great summer concerts on offer at Prospect Park, or take a pleasant walk through the park to reach Park Slope, Grand Army Plaza, and the beautiful Brooklyn Library. Prospect Park is particularly well-suited for families with children - with playgrounds, the Brooklyn zoo, the carousel, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the new state of the art 'Lakeside' skating rink and water park. A wonderful food market can be found in the Park on Sundays.

Queen-size bed in the bedroom, sofa bed (queen size) in the living room, new hardwood floors throughout, laundry room in the building, elevator. The kitchen has recently been renovated and is abundantly equipped with everything you might need: refrigerator, oven, range, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, pots and pans, etc. Flat screen HD-TV with cable service, high-speed wireless internet, air conditioning. Linens and towels are provided.

Our NY/Brooklyn
We needed a property close to our sons home and we choose this one in Ditmas/Flatbush. We really enjoyed our stay and accommodation. We were expecting bath soap but there was none. We had our own shampoo. It would be nice if rentals mentioned what they provide, or not, for your personal care. All in all it was a nice stay.

Big cozy apartment, nice to come home to!
Liked this apartment! It was our base for 4 days of sightseeing and was so nice to come back to every evening. Check-in was straightforward and we found everything real clean. Good linens, comfortable beds, and plenty of space for the 4 of us to relax and get some good sleep. The subway got us to Manhattan real fast so that was awesome, but we liked the feel of being in Brooklyn better.

Brooklyn Rental
My son stayed there while interning in Manhattan. It was close to public transportation and a big apartment.

Clean and functional, but a bit low on comfort.
All in all a good place, but do bring your own amenities - there was not even soap to wash your hands after the trip. Also, the couch in the living room was old and not great to sleep on. The description is for up to four guests, but note that if there are more than two, you pay extra for each person. A late arrival also has an extra fee.

OK for a week
This apartment was well located for us. It's a few blocks from the Church St stop for the B and Q lines. The neighborhood is ok, with some shops, fast food and a gym nearby. The apartment is quiet, and reasonably priced. The furniture is old, but comfortable. We did see a few bugs in the kitchen. Would probably stay here again.

Large, clean, comfortable apartment, well located, 30 min subway to Manhattan
MUCH to like about this apartment! Clean, quiet, well located in older but secure building. Very good network for internet - faster than most. Good window AC units. Very comfortable, firm bed, good closet space w/hangers. LR couch folds out to very comfortable queen bed. Recent updates to kitchen cabinets and kitchen/bath plumbing. Nice fixtures. Plenty of extra towels & linens. Sturdy drying rack for hanging towels and clothes a nice extra touch. Good mealtime seating w/large table + 4 chairs. Neighborhood felt safe, even after midnight weekdays & weekend. Convenient to B/Q subway lines (note B line runs only on weekdays); relatively quick trip to/from Manhattan every day. Large Stop and Shop grocery store couple blocks away (Flatbush Ave). Great fruit market near subway stop at Church & 18th - large variety, good prices. Nearby Cortelyou Road offers nice variety of restaurants (note that many close 8pm on Sundays). Several blocks of beautiful homes just off Cortelyou Road in a quiet neighborhood, great place for walking day or night. Walking distance to Prospect Park. Kitchen adequately stocked with flatware, plates/cups/glasses, cooking pans/utensils, wine opener, veg peeler, a couple spices, salt, sugar, foil/plastic wrap/paper towels/sponge-scrubber (note: 2-cup coffeemaker; gas stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven. You will need your own measuring spoons/cups/spices if you plan to cook much). Laundry facilities on 1st floor: washer $1.50/load, dryer $0.25/15 min (be sure to clean dryer lint trap first). Provide your own laundry detergent, bath soap/toiletries. TV has basic cable offerings only. 4-star rating does not reflect in the least on location/cleanliness/ comfort/safety, but only on some missing 'extras' we've experienced in most other VRBOs where we've stayed.

Great authentic NY experience
Our family enjoyed staying in this apartment. We really felt like part of the community and everyone was very nice. The location is very convenient getting to the Metro station being just a few blocks away. . Funny part...made the joke that the elevator probably wouldn't work when we checked out...and I was right, had to carry our stuff down six flights of stairs! Better than than having to carry them up!

Great

Spacious apartment, easy access
We were very happy with the size and cleanliness of the apartment. Everything worked, including the elevator which was necessary (6th floor). The owners were very nice and helpful with directions to find the property and what to do nearby. It is very convenient to the subway (about 4 blocks) and there was ample shopping nearby at bodegas. The neighborhood felt a little iffy, but we never had any problems and the apartment building felt very safe - it is the only reason I don't give this property 5 stars.

Nice Apartment
It was a nice apartment, spacious and clean. It was just a few blocks from the subway and close to the people we were visiting; there was shopping and restaurants just a few blocks away. Liliana, who manages the apartment, was very nice. We would definitely stay there again, if we make it back to Brooklyn/New York.

Cosy apartment in an interesting neighbourhood
We left our accommodation booking till quite late and I was almost giving up by the time we found this flat a day to arrival in NY! The owner was very quick to responding, very helpful and understanding. The maps she left in the flat helped us locate some shops and the subway. The apartment was clean, airy and had all we required. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is the neighbourhood itself. People we saw were friendly but I wouldn't feel safe walking at night. Overall, I would stay in the apartment again if I had to stay in Brooklyn.

Great apartment in a lovely location!
A clean, warm, spacious apartment in a friendly and truly interesting neighborhood within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants and the subway. The Q and B line took us directly into Manhattan in less than 30 minutes. We often came back after midnight and always felt safe on the streets. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, and for those who like to cook we highly recommend the fruit market on Church ave. at which you can get all manner of curious fruits and vegetables. There are great restaurants on Cortelyou, a hip area that also has nice bars and cafes. And nearby Prospect Park, designed by Olmsted (the guy who designed Central Park) is a natural wonder. The Brooklyn Museum on the opposite side of the park is a must see.
