Solitude and Fun at Great Pond. This property is a private National Seashore treasure.

The exclusive property sits on a knoll above your own private beach on Great Pond-- pristine, freshwater, sandy bottomed, warm and swimmable in the Cape Cod National Seashore. You will be away from it all, surrounded by pine forest and sand roads. Walking distance to the ocean. Private raft.

Home Details:
- Our property is two houses joined together. We call one house the Big House and one house the Summer Side.
- Private beach and raft on Great Pond
- Sleeps 8 in bedrooms. There is a double futon in Summer Side living room for extra guests.
- While almost a single level dwelling, there are 2-6 stairs at entrances and between rooms

Big House: (fully insulated and heated for Fall/Winter)
- Bedroom 1: King w/semi-ensuite bathroom
- Bedroom 2: two twin beds and writing desk.
- Bedroom 3: two twin beds

Our Great Pond Property is two fully equipped houses joined as one, a blend of rustic and contemporary. The ‘Summer Side’ is the original cottage - full of Cape Cod charm and a huge screened-in porch. The ‘Big House’ was added in the 80’s. It is fully insulated / heated, has a window-lined living room and a gorgeous dining room that makes you feel you are eating outside. The 2 homes are connected by a hallway with a twin bedroom. Each home has private decks with views of the pond and a full kitchen. This lovely property is only one of three that are available to rent on Great Pond in the summer and the only one available to rent in the off season. Built by our family, this property has personal touches and a few Cape Cod quirks.

Summer: This wonderful “two vacation homes as one" is available to rent in its entirety for any week. It is a perfect vacation spot for a large family, two families or a multigenerational family gathering. For those who love to swim, this home is a paradise. (May - September)

Fall / Winter: Stay in the Big House, gaze at the water, walk the sand roads, and spy on our resident heron as you nestle by the fireplace. Enjoy the quiet of Wellfleet as it returns to its roots as a sleepy fishing village. The insulated/heated Big House is a 3 bedroom home. (October - May)

Wonderful Home

Our family of (5) plus a couple friends stayed at this spacious house and it was perfect. When we were looking at the house, I told my Wife I bet the pictures don't do it justice, I was right. The "pond" has more of a small lake feel and was perfect for all the kids. The house comes with it's own small marina and a floating dock off shore to dive and fish from. Highly suggest fishing, some big bass in there. Essentially you have two homes bridged together creating a ton of space. The entire back of the house has seating areas that have great views of the pond, plus a large deck off the master and living room. All that and you're still only a 5 min. ride to the ocean. 25 min. or so to P-town. I could go on and on. Hope to stay there again sometime.

Idyllic

We love Wellfleet in the summer and this Great Pond house does not disappoint! This home is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable with a quick drive to quaint downtown Wellfleet and beaches. The pond is perfect for swimming. SUP, and canoeing. There is nothing like the peacefulness of having coffee on the porch in the morning looking out at the sparkling pond and the sound of the frogs at night under a sky full of stars.

Wonderful!

We returned to this lovely home this summer and it is just as wonderful as we remembered it. Nothing better than peaceful mornings by the pond, paddleboarding and kayaking with the kids, and exploring the beautiful natural delights of Wellfleet. We hope to return yet again!

Beautiful home with a gorgeous pond.

The family enjoyed swimming kayaking in the clean pond it was enjoyable to be able to relax in the morning by the water and watching the grandkids swim. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Wonderful joined house on a peaceful lake.

We loved our stay at Tammy and Terry’s property. Exploring the lake by kayak, going to the nearby Atlantic beaches, and walking around Welfleet were some highlights. This property is a lovely home base for your outer cape vacation.

Idyllic location

We loved staying in this lovely home right on Great Pond. The views from the home are beautiful and peaceful. We could have just sat on the deck all day watching the many moods of the pond. We had a fabulous time taking the kayaks and SUPs out, and what a treat to swim to your very own raft! A truly special place. We hope to return!

Can't wait to return!

We had such a wonderful time at Great Pond. It was the perfect spot for us, with my husband and me in the main house, and my daughter and her partner in the attached cottage. They loved the privacy of their own space and couldn't rave enough about the outdoor shower! The main house was far more luxurious than we'd expected, and even in mid-September, the gas fireplace was much appreciated! But for as lovely as the house was, we spent most of our time there relaxing on the comfortably furnished decks over-looking the pond. The listing tells you exactly what to expect when you visit so the only surprises are the extras we found there. The provided amenities for outdoor activities (beach chairs, beach toys, kayaks, paddle board, outdoor shower, etc) as well as a fully stocked kitchen, complete with plenty of plates and glasses as well as every cooking utensil you could want. But the best part was starting and ending the day sitting outside and looking out over the pond. We definitely hope to visit again in the future!

Beautiful location, a few issues with one of the houses

The location can't be beat. The pond is amazing. The Big House is great, with everything you need. Summerside house needs some work. The bathroom is tiny. It would be nice to have an indoor shower. The oven needed to be cleaned and got very smoky when we first used it. I'm sure the owners are happy to take care of this as they seem very responsible. It would be better to have photos and more explanation of how small the bathroom is in Summerside. I still recommend staying here, especially in the Big House.

Perfect vacation on Great Pond in Wellfleet

Three generations of our family spent an amazing week on Great Pond. We had perfect weather in June to swim, paddleboard and kayak. Special times were breakfast and dinner on the screened porch, enjoying the pond from early morning through the evening. My 85 year old mother-in-law could enjoy the pond from an easy chair on the the porch and patio, while the water was just down the steps for the rest of the family. The well-equipped kitchen had everything we needed for cooking,from basic baking supplies/spices to a blender, lots of pot/pans, etc. We enjoy the ocean beaches (just a mile walk), but the beauty, privacy and solitude 24/7 of the pond can't be beat! The house is very spacious, with lots of room for our group to relax and hang out. . It's a home we felt fortunate to share for a week. Welflleet is a short drive for groceries and other shopping including the General Store and Hatch's fish market, yummy seafood restaurants and great biking. We've enjoyed other rentals near Wellfleet over the years, but Tammy's house on Great Pond is our favorite. We can't wait to return in 2019. She's is a an accommodating host, quickly responding to all our inquiries.

We had a wonderful time at Tammy and Terry's house. The house is in a beautiful location and is nicely furnished, very well equipped kitchen, and clean. When I had a problem, Tammy came over right away and called the plumbers, who came the next morning to fix the problem. We loved waking up the beautiful views of the pond, and the canoes were a plus.

Truly Amazing

Everything about this place is really nice and has a very home-y feel. It is a beautiful, well-maintained house with an amazing view and access to the pond. We woke up and opened the blinds in the morning and could walk out on the deck to enjoy the pond and quiet wooded area around us. The owners kept basic amenities in the kitchen and bathroom, and if you go in a cooler month, the fireplace makes it even more cozy. The owners were easy to work with and communicate with and left brochures with things to do in the area. We are returning this summer and looking forward to it!

Amazing home! Private access to pond

I recently stayed with my family for two weeks in Nov/December. I love this home! It is beautiful and full of the small things that make me feel welcome when traveling. Being here in the off-Season was tranquil. Images that stay with me include: the full moon reflecting on the pond, sitting with my coffee by the fireplace, the solitude of walking along the ocean with no one else in sight but my 3 year old son making sand castles, listening to live music - just a five minute drive away in Wellfleet, and driving to the Orleans Hog Island brewery for tastey food and amazing beer. It was too cold to swim but my toes went in the pond anyway! The property was picturesque, clean, beds comfortable, kitchen/dining room lovely, owner easy to communicate with. Wonderful. I look forward to a summer visit as well.

City of Refuge

The property is perfect! Remote, perfectly taken care of, and charming. It has its own pond with boats, paddle boards, and kayaks. My wife and I were there with our two kids and never had a moment that the boys weren't enjoying themselves! Driving into town was easy and Wellfleet was charming. We will be staying there again!

Wellfleet wonderland

My husband and I, together with our three grown kids and a couple significant others, spent Memorial Day weekend here. It's really hard to overstate how lovely a property this is. All but one bedroom have magnificent views of the pond, and there are tremendous views as well from three separate decks, a screened porch, and the dining area. The house wasextremely well-appointed and made cooking fun and clean-up easy. (Evening mosquitoes do make grilling a bit of a challenge, however.) Our hostess was easy to reach and very accommodating. We have rented for several decades in Wellfleet, and this property was a real find. We hope to return.

Paradise Tucked Away..

After having rented in Wellfleet for the past several years with two of my college girlfriends, and our kids ages 8-16, we finally have found the perfect space for us! We wanted to be on one of the beautiful kettle ponds and in close proximity to the pristine beaches in Wellfleet. My three boys and I stayed on the Summer Side of the property which afforded me the space and privacy needed to feed hungry kids and put them to bed on our schedule. The house was neat and clean upon arrival and had all the amenities, and more, that were needed for my family. The Queen room had a breathtaking view of the pond and to wake up to the sunrise as well as to be able to watch the moon rise over the water was truly my favorite times of the day. I also had a private deck off my bedroom where I was able to read quietly or to have my morning coffee with my friends. In addition to this deck there is a very large screened in porch with a few sitting areas and a picnic table. We enjoyed breakfast here, having evening cocktails, playing cards with the kids and my teenage son even slept out there a few nights. It was cozy and comfortable, just the perfect space for the four of us. On the Big Side of the property was where my friends stayed with their teenagers. The kitchen was large and open and we were able to cook for our group without stepping on each other's toes and being able to serve the meals in the bright, open dining room with a fabulous view was a treat. There is a large living room with a piano, which we used almost on a nightly basis. My friend and her children are all accomplished musicians so we had a ball singing along with their guitars. Such great memory makers for us and the kids! Both bedrooms on this side had their own bathrooms and the front bedroom was very large, surrounded by windows which again looked out on Great Pond and the surrounding woods. Again, there is a private deck off this bedroom as well. Great Pond is clean, serene and a beautiful spot to vacation at. Some days we never even made it to the beach because we had everything we could ever want on Great Pond. You can walk the fire roads that are in the surrounding woods and swim in some of the other kettle ponds, Dyer Pond and Long Pond are a short walk away. We all agreed that this house is true paradise in every sense of the word and we hope to be able to return for many years to come!

AMAZING!!!!

Wow! What an amazing property. Our party consisted of 4 people (3 adults and one preteen). Three of us stayed in the Big House with the 3rd adult in the Summer Side Cottage. The property allows for each side to have adequate privacy while also being able to enjoy the shared spaces. The beauty, quiet and tranquility of these homes is something very special. The homes are set in the woods with a gorgeous pond just a stairwell away. We rarely left except when we had to fetch groceries or dinner since we were living in paradise. The Big House was comfortable with a well stocked kitchen. The benefit of renting both sides is the cottage is also well-stocked and between the two kitchens, we were able to make more than due. The house has DSL internet and is equipped with satellite TV (if that is your thing). We brought a DVD Blu Ray player with us (for the preteen) and we were glad we did since the TV has basic channels. The Big House's decor is dated and it is immaculate which makes up for some of the dated feel. Dealing with the owner was delightful. She was easy to work with, was responsive to our inquiries and made our stay just delightful. After we stayed in the Big House, She sought feedback from us and from our suggestions she bought new knives for the kitchen and a new comfy chair for the living room. The owners clearly cares about making their home comfortable so that people can have an enjoyable, pleasant and memorable vacation and that is really appreciated.

My brother and I grew up spending summers in this cottage when it was just one room and had no electricity or running water. We swam and sailed in the pond all day or played on the sandy beach or in the pine woods. It was a wonderful way to spend childhood summers.

Why they chose this property

My great grandfather was the Methodist Minister in Wellfleet. It has been a family gathering spot for 4 generations.

What makes this property unique

Because there are 2 houses connected by a hallway, there are lots of private areas as well as communal areas.The screened in porch is one of the unique features of the Summer Side. It extends across one entire side of the cottage. It overlooks the pond and is surrounded by pine trees. There is a picnic table for dining on, comfortable chairs for reading in. On warm nights it's a wonderful place for reading and visiting.
The Big House has the tv and the big living room to gather in the evenings.
