About this property

Casa Sara Adobe Home in Taos New Mexico, sleeps 12

This home is a fabulous vacation location. It is situated on five irrigated acres in the foothills above the village of Arroyo Seco. You can walk or ride bikes to the town along a creek on a tree-lined road.
El Salto Road is the very best location to enjoy a Taos holiday. The creeks and irrigation keep the area green and lush. The five-acre property surrounding the house has 1000 trees in Cottonwood, Willow, Austrian Pines, and Aspen. There is a small plum and apple orchard and a whole garden on site for guests to pick vegetables. We are growing lettuce, spinach, tomato, radish, carrot, potato, and basil.
The mountain biking and cycling are world-class right out the front door. Hiking trails are phenomenal, with access to Forest Service lands just minutes away. From Taos Ski Valley (15 minutes), there are countless trails and cooler temperatures as one gains altitude. The Ski Valley offers trail riding horse stables and chairlift rides.
Relax in an authentic Adobe home after skiing in winter or hiking any time of the year. Located just minutes from the village of Arroyo Seco and fifteen minutes from Taos Ski Valley, this comfortable, warm, and inviting residence awaits you and your family. The home was built by Taos' most successful designer/builder/developer team for their own family and enjoyment. The architecture and furnishings might be described as French Country Northern New Mexico.
The walls are 18-inch thick adobe with viga and beam ceilings, flagstone floors covered with oriental rugs, and antique furniture throughout. The house feels good, warm, cozy, and luxurious. The furnishings and finishes have been selected with great care and comfort in mind.
The kitchen features a stainless steel restaurant stove and oven, side by side refrigerator, a dishwasher, a compactor, and a full line of dishes and cooking utensils. There is a large central island for food preparation where the entire family can participate in making a meal.
The sizeable primary bedroom contains a queen bed and a couch that slides out to make two twin beds. The middle and front bedrooms have queen beds and a twin bed in each.
There is also a convertible couch for two more twin beds in the living room.
There are two patios for use all year round.
All the linens and towels are provided for a large group. The owners have many years of experience providing their guests with a beautiful vacation experience.

Great ski base and family hone

We had a little family ski reunion and found the perfect space in Casa Sara. Plenty of space for a big group to sleep and also hang out, fully stocked kitchen, and great location between skiing and town. We were cozy and relaxed when indoors and enjoyed the outdoor experiences so much too. The owner and a helper were responsive and quick to help/make us comfortable. The pictures don’t show how big and comfortable the common spaces are; everyone enjoyed their beds too. We’d come back for sure.

Best Taos haven!

I can't say enough nice things about our gracious host. Our multi family holiday vacay was sucked into crisis mode when we found our original booking with NO HEAT and a dangerous electrical short. We were beyond grateful to trade UP to Casasara. Host greeted our grateful crew in person and the rest was awesome. Beautiful property with lots of room and sleeping options. And the hands down favorite amenity was the amazing rainwater steam shower! If you get a chance, check it out.

Amazing place and hospitality!

The house is perfect! Plenty of room for us to spread out and have our own space, and the kitchen is large for gathering to cook and socialize. The grounds are a beautiful view while enjoying the hot tub. Rick is the perfect host by being available when we needed him! He helped us get our car out after the snow storm! Highly recommend!

Great thanksgiving stay

Rick, the owner, made this a great stay for us. Since we arrived after dark he was nice enough to meet close to the property so we could follow him to the house. He gave a great tour of the house before leaving us for the weekend. For the entirety of the stay he made sure that we had everything we needed, and it was overall a great experience. Definitely recommend checking out this property and I am hoping to come back very soon

Beautiful Property, Bad Owner

When we arrived on site it was dark and couldn't get a real sense of the property. The owner insisted on meeting us upon arrival, even though it was late, and giving us a tour. He was waiting at the front door and asked if we were comfortable not wearing masks. It was somewhat uncomfortable as he had no sense of boundaries. He told us he would be staying in the studio on the property. We didn't see it being an issue until later in our stay. He asked what brought us to the location and we told him we were celebrating our wedding with a small group of 20. He said that was wonderful and he has had many weddings on the property. Over the next few days it felt like we were in a horror movie. The next day he came over cursing and causing a scene when we were putting up a small tent. My 11 year old daughter was present which didn't seem to phase him. His behavior was extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. Once he calmed down he realized everything was fine and apologized for his behavior. The following day, during our event and leading up to it, we had a few guests say someone with his description was in the house. I never specifically saw him but our guests wouldn't have any reason to make this up. At this point we realized this guy was not stable and displayed odd behavior. On our final morning the owner stormed into a bedroom, at 7am, where one of the couples was sleeping and asked why they were in his home and what they were doing. He started cursing at them and causing a scene. Unfortunately a critter had gotten into the outdoor trash which put him over the edge. Our checkout time was at 11am but the owner felt the need to start stripping beds around 8:30am and sit in the front yard. He also thought it would be okay to start cursing at my mom and and other guests. When we asked him to stop he said this is how he handles things. We cleaned the house and left it in just as good, if not better, shape than when we arrived. As we were pulling out of the driveway the owner came lurking from behind a tree to the front door. He attempted calling me but I ignored the call in order to avoid any other blow ups. It is unfortunate the owner was completely overbearing and inappropriate because the property was beautiful. I do not think it is appropriate for the owner to be on site, especially during COVID, and when he clearly isn't comfortable with people in his home.

Wonderful home with beautiful grounds

My family (son 3.5, daughter 18 months) stayed here for a month in July 2020. We were working remotely from the house and it was the perfect set up for our family. The house is very spacious and comfortable. The master bedroom has a desk and is separate from the rest of the house which made it ideal for working. The kitchen is very well equipped, there were plenty of linens/towels/paper products, and we had everything we needed for our stay. The outdoor spaces around the house were just stunning. There is a beautiful, soft green yard in the immediate area around the house that our kids loved. The landscaping is immaculate. There is a garden, fruit trees, and plenty of places to explore on the property as well. We spent a lot of time enjoying the outdoor spaces here and will very much miss being here. The owner Rick was a wonderful host and was always available to answer questions we had or provide advice on things to do. This is an incredibly beautiful place that is very convenient to the ski area as well as Taos. We were sad to leave and would definitely stay here again.

Lovely house in a beautiful area of NM

Our party of 8 (4 adults, 4 kids) plus 2 dogs stayed for 7 nights at Casa Sara. It was delightful. There were plenty of beds and space to spread out. Rick is a generous host and strong communicator-- he ensured we had everything we needed at the house and shared ideas for several local activities that we enjoyed. The house is beautifully decorated and the kitchen well stocked. We found that the wifi worked well enough to effectively work remotely (2 of us were working on this trip), although our cell phone service was relatively poor. Arroyo Seco had basic supplies, with Taos an easy drive for groceries (we recommend Cid's!). Kids couldn't get enough of the ice cream at the Taos Cow, which is within walking distance of the house.

Casa Sara

Rick was amazing as a host. I even referenced the level of customer service he provided us on my team call at work to exemplify what customer service should look like. Would definitely recommend checking this place out. Also the pictures make the house look smaller than it actually is. The house is deceivingly large

Fabulous Property

Our family of 6 adults and 2 young children stayed at this property (there is room for more) for a Taos ski vacation. The house is spacious with a bathroom for each of the bedrooms. High quality furnishings and with abundant extra supplies and a fully stocked, roomy kitchen, we lacked for nothing. The hot tub was clean and worked great. The owner is very friendly, attentive and helpful. This property is located on several scenic acres in Arroyo Seco Village which is located about halfway between the town of Taos and Taos Ski Village and is the closest you can be to the ski area without actually staying at the ski village. Arroyo Seco offers some quaint shops and couple of small grocery stores along with a few restaurants. Highly recommend this property.

Awesome!

We had a group of 12 people and everyone was comfortable and had beds. The house is really big, the picture do not do it justice as to how nice it is! Rick was as good a host as I had read in other reviews he was. We wanted to watch a pay per view on a night we were there so I emailed him. He called and got it set up for us! I can't say enough good things about our stay!!!

Best Vacation Ever!

Fabulous does not even begin to describe Casa Sara or our stay there! The pictures just don't do it justice. The minute you walk through the door, a feeling of warmth and calmness comes over you and you instantly feel at home. It is such a beautiful, peaceful place, very livable and comfortable. From the grounds to the home itself, they are kept in immaculate condition. It is super clean and everything you could possibly need is there. We stayed for two weeks, and Rick even had the house cleaner come during our stay to insure we had a clean home. The owners, Rick and Sara, are amazing people! They are gracious, kind and more than accommodating. He was available for any questions and can provide you with any information you could want or need about Taos and the surrounding areas. We traveled with our daughter and our pets. Rick took every possible consideration to make sure we were ALL comfortable. He definitely went above and beyond! The location was fantastic! We enjoyed walking to the lovely town of Arroyo Seco on many occasions, partook in their 4th of July parade and experienced the shops and restaurants of this quaint, little town. It is also a very short drive into Taos or up to the ski valley. We also went for daily hikes in the mountains just by walking out the front door. We cannot say enough about Casa Sara, the owners, Rick and Sara, and their beautiful dog, Sadie. Amazing vacation!!! If you want the best, I highly recommend staying here. We can't wait to go back! : )
