About this property
Sun-kissed, seaside sanctuary in Britannia Heights: relax with great views
Discover Tiro Moana, (Sea Views), our family's Nelson retreat, back again for the 24/25 Summer. This relaxed top-floor haven is bathed in natural light and has stunning views of Tahunanui Beach and across the Bay to the Kuhurangi mountains.
Just a 20 minute walk to the beach and a short drive to town, enjoy serene moments in the private garden overlooking the bay.
Perfect for relaxation and soaking in nature's beauty.
Indulge in the breathtaking, unobstructed 180-degree sea views, encompassing Tahunanui Beach and the Takaka Hills. This top story apartment is drenched in sunlight, particularly in the afternoons, with the lounge and kitchen offering west-facing vistas for spectacular sunsets.
Tiro Moana seamlessly blends modern comfort with charming late '60s retro features. Retaining its original character, the home has authentic 1960s elements like vintage lighting fixtures, classic door handles, and natural wood window frames, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. This fusion of the old and new provides a fresh, clean, and comfortable setting, ideal for guests seeking both the privacy and the nostalgic charm of a chic, relaxed home.
The open-plan lounge, kitchen, and dining area feature a well-equipped kitchen, complete with a dishwasher and a range of coffee options – Nespresso with capsules, a plunger, and a stovetop espresso maker with local coffee. Cooks will appreciate the ample cookware, platters, and utensils, along with a soda water maker.
The garden pathways lead to a flat lawn area, ideal for outdoor dining or relaxing, complete with a gas BBQ, tables, chairs, and a large umbrella.
Accommodations include a main bedroom with a queen bed and garden views, a second bedroom that can be made up as two singles or a super king. There is a separate, sunlit study. Modern conveniences like a laundry area with washer and dryer, a fesh bathroom, and a separate toilet enhance your stay.
Experience luxury with plush spa-sized towels, high-quality 100% cotton linens, and separate beach towels, all provided for your comfort.
Tiro Moana, fenced and private from the road, is an idyllic sanctuary for those seeking a relaxed, tranquil getaway in Nelson.
The apartment is very near the top of Britannia Heights. Many tour buses stop on the other side of the round about just up the road to take in the views which are yours for the stay. Being high up on the hill, you are probably best with a car as town, the beach and any trips you take will all be down the hill. Having said that there is a network of walking tracks that weave up and down both sides of the hill. Apart from a great walk, these can take you by various routes to a great kids park along the hill, into town and to the beach.
Tahunaunui Beach and surrounding park is fabulous for families. The beach is mostly very calm and safe. There are go-karts, hydro slides, a small nature reserve, a skating ring, volley ball and petanque courts, and, a couple of places where you can buy that all important kiwi ice cream. On the windy days you'll also find Nelson's windsurfing, kitesurfing and wind foiling community down at the very end section.
Two of our favourite haunts are down the hill on the waterfront side. The BoatShed for higher end meals and the BoatHouse for sunny afternoons on their over water deck, live music and a quiet drink or two. In Nelson itself there is a massive range of restaurants from award winning: Hopgoods (THE local institution), Oyster Bar and Grill (hip with sharing plates) to ethnic, to local brewery bars.

We love travelling the world and meeting fabulous people. And there are so many of you out there! We particularly love the outdoors, the sea, the bush, forests, mountains and lakes. The air too, we're partial to a bit of paraglding and other air sports.

When we moved to Nelson, we thought we got all that in one little town. Just fabulous! And we think it's great you're getting to experience it too.
